RaM's Review on Amazon: - Who said this was a vampire movie?

When I first saw this movie, years ago, I was rather upset it did not follow the usual 'vampire line'. Catherine Deneuve and David Bowie are able to go out in the daylight, get their photos taken and see their images in mirrors, and no fangs in sight! On re-viewing this movie, I found it more thought provoking - Miriam (played by Catherine Deneuve) just wanted it all - youth, lovers and immortality (who can blame her!) and the blood drinking was merely some strange Egyptian ritual for eternal life. Sarah Roberts (played by Susan Sarandon), gets her just reward at the end, as does Miriam! Hated to see the David Bowie character have to go, though. Just proves you can't have it all!
