The TV Guide Channel in the US even has a recent Bowie interview to promo the DVD's release, here's the transcript I painstakingly transcribed: - TV Guide Soundcheck: - Madison Michele: Welcome to TV Guide Soundcheck. He was born David Robert Heywood Jones and later transformed himself into an alien named Ziggy Stardust. Now the groundbreaking musical icon is simply known as David Bowie and these days he's grounded in Reality. Jeff Varner has the story - {cue Hallo Spaceboy} JV: David Bowie's new DVD David Bowie: A Reality Tour, marks the performer's first concert film in over 15 years and while it boasts a state of the art light and sound show, Bowie has deliberately toned down the theatrics he employed during his wilder Ziggy Stardust days of the 1970's. {cue Ziggy Stardust clip from Reality DVD} - " so where were the spiders...."...etc. DB: It's always been in my mind, ever since I was a kid, of doing some travelling venture that was ah, had a theatricality about it that tied in with Rock....AH...but I still haven't got it quite right yet. JV: Bowie admits to getting bored easily and finds that having a less structured show, allows him more freedom to improvise. DB: Also there's no theatrics to have to hold us down like 'oh, I've got to be standing on that side of the stage tonight in X minutes' -- there's no choreography like that. {cue HS} DB continues: - There's quite a few abstracts that I'm using, but they kind of support the tone that I'm using or the sensibility of the songs....some of them very beautiful and some of them quite disturbing. But you will be able to see them from 15 miles back! But a circus it's not! there are no elephants and trapezes and nobody hanging upside down.[laughing] {cue NGO} JV: Recorded in Dublin Ireland in 2003, the concert features 30 of Bowie's greatest hits and may provide fans with one of their last chances to see the 57 year old singer on stage. DB: - Which I find as I'm getting older, I'm probably doing more and more of just becoming a writer.....how boring! {cue Hang Onto Yourself}...come on, come on.... back to Madison Michele: - He could NEVER be boring! The DVD David Bowie: A Reality Tour is available in stores now. Photo shot from the TV: - (hey no stache!)
