Biography

Scott Rees

Australian native Scott Rees' home was at the top of a hill overlooking the Bondi beach when a man attempting to walk this steep incline in the heat knocked at the door to ask for a glass of water. Scott's mom couldn't believe her eyes when she saw Roy Orbisonstanding there. She had taken 4 year old Scott to Orbison's concert just the night before. After Roy's visit, Scott picked up his older brother's guitar and hasn't put it down since!

Scott found his was to the American music scene in 1996. "I wasn't born in America", but I got here just as fast as I could", claimed Rees earlier this year at Florida's May SunFest music festival where he played to an audience of ten thousand and was selected "Best of the Bunch" by Palm Beach Post music critic, Charles Passey.

HONEYFISH was the first band Scott put together in the early 90's to play covers at local Australian pub gigs. When he later introduced some of his original tunes and found them so well recieved, he formed a new band called HARD that toured Australia and Hawaii, opening for such national acts as the Divivyles. While playing Mango Jam in Hawaii, a scout from Bugeater Records, an independant label in Boca Raton, Florida, "discovered" Scott's unique talent.

Writing about life's experiences and emotions, and influenced by mentors including Bono and Chris Cornell, Scott's distictive voice has a vibrant quality and broad range that makes you sit up and really take notice of the lyrical content. Each time you hear a song repeated, it takes on a new flavor, a heavier or more melodic twist.

Scott semi-relocated from Queensland to the USA to record a five song EP with producer Kevin Elson entitled CIRCUMSTANCES. CIRCUMSTANCES was unleashed to much local air play and Scott began playing variouslarge capacity venues, increasing his his profile to open for national acts.

On September 9, 1998, Scott was the opening act for Sister Hazel and Allman Brothers at the Coral Sky Amphitheatre, West Palm Beach, Florida.

While gaining strong attention from a number of major record labels, Scott is currently collaborating with songwriter Desmond Child to complete his first full length CD.

Scott's Favorite Rees songs are Woman and Jenna's Lullaby.
