Chapter 6

*A Week Later*

Brian was sitting in his room thinking about nothing in particular when Nick called.

"Hello?" Brian answered the phone.

"Yo, B, ya wanna go play some b-ball?" Nick asked.

"Nah, not right now. Maybe later."

Nick was worried. Brian? Turning down b-ball? "OK buddy. Give me a call later." click.

Brian resumed thinking on his bed when his thoughts turned to teaching A.C. b-ball. It was a lot of fun and she picked it up like a pro. Even in her uniform! (Think Britney Spears outfit in "Baby One More Time") He had given her a chance to play against Nick (as a test) and she had whooped his butt. He smiled as he thought of that. Nick was so pissed at him that he had taught a 14 year old girl all of his weak spots. She had also passed her gym test with flying colors. He had gone to pick her up two days ago for a celebratory lunch, but she was in science class. It was dissection day. Oh joy. They had to take apart their subjects and label them in classifications. Brian laughed out loud at the joke he had pulled on her. He remembered that she had science today also. Brian looked at his watch. 3:00. She should be here any second he thought.

On cue, she opened the door, yelling, "HONEY! I'M HOME!" She dropped her school bag onto his couch and knocked on his bedroom door. She jumped on his bed.

"Hey A.C." Brian greeted her. "I was just thinking about you."

She gave him a weird look and replied almost instantly, "Isn't it fun?"

He laughed. "Time to go, Chicklet." he told her using the nickname he gave her.

"Where we goin'?" she asked, getting off the bed and grabbing her coat.

"Kev and I have a surprise for ya."

"Oh!" she exclaimed as he took her arm and yanked her out the door.

Brian blindfolded her and led her to the hall where the guys practiced when they weren't on tour. She was put in a room with only a candle in it when he took off the blindfold.

"Wait here." he told her.

A.C. watched him as he went out the door with a mysterious look on his face.

A few moments later, Fatima walked in.

"Hey, 'Tima!" A.C. said.

"Hay is for horses. Put this on." Fatima said, and left.

A.C. looked at the dress in her hand. It was a red satin ballroom dress.

It was a little torn, but it was beautiful. She put in on a slowly twirled in front of the mirror. She started to shake. A.C. felt a little dizzy so she sat back down and waited for someone to come and get her. AJ walked in, not knowing that she was in there. He was in a costume much like her own and didn't notice her there until she coughed.

"Excuse me," he replied. "I didn't know anyone was in here."

"It's OK." A.C. told him. "I'm just waiting for Brian or Kevin to come and get me. Fatima told me to put this dress on. I have no clue what's happening." she said, still shaking.

"What's wrong?" he asked, with true sincerity. He sat down next to her.

"Nothing. I'm fine." A.C. lied. She knew what was happening.
