Chapter 2

I peeked into the windows of the coffeeshop hoping for a glimpse of Nick or Brian. I hadn't seen Nick since last semester. I really missed him. We had grown to e really good friends over the past few monthes. To my delight I spotted Nick's blonde hair right away. He had these beautiful blonde locks that made me extremly jealous. He was at the cash register ordering something. Forgetting I was with my roommate I ran over to Nick and grabbed him to hug him as best as I could. The only problem was the radical height difference between him and I. He was a whopping 6'1", while I barely reached 5'5". Unfortunatly I was coming closer to choking the poor guy than I was to hugging him.

"What the...?" He swung around. When he saw me his eyes lit up. "Hey buddy what's up?" Nick wrapped me in a huge bear hug, lifting me a few inches into the air.

"Lemme down, lemme down!" I squeeled.

He set me down. I didn't even notice that he was with someone until my feet were safely planted on the floor. She was about 5'2", and she had a very small frame. I guessed that she was about a size four at the most. I'll bet he could TOSS her into the air I thought.

Nick noticed that we were eyeing eachother.

"Oh...you guys don't know eachother do you?" he asked. "Angela...this is Carri...Carri, my friend Angela."

I couldn't help but feel slightly resentful towards her as I shook her hand. It wasn't that I was jealous...I realized that she was probably the reason Nick was never in his dorm room. I had called his room several times in a vain attempt to get together to hang out. The girl wasn't even pretty in my opinion. She wore way too much eye makeup. She wasn't even smiling. It looked to me as if she felt as threatened by me as I was by her. To sort of rub things in, I gave Nick another big bear hug. I could tell that it bothered her.

After we had finished ordering, we took a seat in the corner of the coffeeshop. I sat accross from the chair that held the familiar blue and black L.L. Bean jacket that I knew belonged to Brian. Soon he stepped out of the bathroom, and being the sweet guy that he is he swept Karen and I into a warm embrace.

"What have you girls been up to?" he asked.

"Oh you know...the usual. I'm back into my old studying 24/7 routine. I sighed and rolled my eyes. I noticed that Brian and Nick were eyeing eachother for some reason.

Nick cleared his throat "I have some good news Angie."

I looked up, intrigued.

Nick and Brian were still eyeing eachother. They were beginning to make me really nervous.

"Well, I got this weird phone call last month from this guy named Hal...he said that he was at our school last semester for the fall musical we put on.

Back in October, Mt. Ida College had performed "Into the Woods," a musical parody of many different fairy tales all combined into one main story. Nick had played Jack (from Jack in the Beanstalk).

"Well..." Nick ran his hands through his hair. It was always useless when he did that beause it alwaus ended up falling back into his face anyways. Most guys couldn't get away with the longer hairstyle...but it suited Nick very well. "He liked my voice. He thinks I could make a record deal."

My eyes must have popped out of my head. Karen slapped the table with her hands "that's GREAT!" she screamed. She wasn't one to hide her emotions.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. That was wonderful!

"Nick that's great...wow! I'll bet you can't wait to graduate!"

Brian coughed nervously.

"Actually, Ange...I'm going to take a leave of absence. I have already dropped my classes. I'm moving out next weekend.

The sound of my glass shattering filled my ears, and the sext thing I knew I was covered with Strawberry-Kiwi Snapple.
