Ellie is one of two daughters born to Katsuo and Keiko Takahashi. Her older sister, Esther, was formerly a rhythmic gymnast but now does kickboxing. She has two cats and a dog named Mimi. Ellie at one time was coached by former U.S. rhythmic champion Lydia Bree. Ellie maintains a 4.30 grade point average.
