A picture of the Rhythmflex group at the 1998 Worlds
About 1998 Worlds:
Six gymnasts from Rhythmflex Gymnastics in Rockville, Md., will represent the United States in the World Championships in Sport Rhythmic Gymnastics, to be held May 8-10 in Seville, Spain.
The squad, which will be led by head coach Catherine Yakhimovich (Rockville, Md.), includes the last two U.S. Junior National Champions: Kate Jeffress (Rockville, Md.), who won the junior title in 1997; and Johanna Shoemaker (North Potomac, Md.), the 1996 junior champion. They are joined by Virginia Ledgerwood (Chester, Va.), who was a member of the U.S. Rhythmic Group Team which trained for the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games, where rhythmic group competition made its Olympic debut.
Also inculded are Stefanie Croyle (Harvard, Mass.) and two foreign-born athletes who are permanent U.S. residents: Natasha Lojevsky (Rockville, Md.), who was born in Russia; and Tatyana Brikulskaya (Brooklyn, N.Y.), a native of Ukraine. Alicia Albe is also a member of the group, but because of a back injury was forced to go to Worlds to merely give her team support.
The Rhythmflex group came in 16th. A great finish for the USA. Hopefully in the years to come we can improve on this placing :-)
