Point of Grace Weekend

On March 4, 1998, I left my home in St. Petersburg, Florida and traveled to
my net family's home in Liberty, Mississippi and met Bill, Trish, Alisha, and Bryan.  We had a really great time getting to know each other and finding out none of us were ax-murderers. *LOL*  On March 6th, we went to Jackson, MS and met another net friend, Nicole, another non-ax-murderer. *LOL*  That same afternoon, we continued on to Monroe, Louisiana for the first of two Point of Grace concerts benefiting Mercy Ministries of America.  That evening we picked up my sister, Lori, from the airport, along with friends from Point of Grace chat.  The entire Circle of Friends now included myself, my sister, Lori, Bill, Trish, Alisha, Bryan, Treeva, Laura, Angie, Tim, Jason, Jerri, Joyce, Joel, Tanya and her parents.  The next morning, we participated in the Mercy Ministries Walkathon.   From the start it looked as if we would be drenched from all the rain that morning.  But as Nancy Alcorn (President and founder of Mercy Ministries of America) said, "God parted the Red Sea for us."  The rain stopped from the time we started the walk until the last step was taken.  One of our friends, Jerri, received honors for the funds she raised and enjoyed dinner with Point of Grace and Danny Wuerffel for her efforts.  Congrats, Jerri!!!!!!!

That evening, all 17 of us were off to the Monroe Civic Center (in the rain again!)  to see Point of Grace and Danny Wuerffel.  For me, it was my first time ever seeing Point of Grace and I was very excited! The concert was awesome!!  I could really feel God ministering to me through Point of Grace, Danny Wuerffel and Mercy Ministries! A special highlight was hearing the new Point of Grace song "Who Am I?" I can hardly wait for it's release! Great song.
During the concert, Shelley Breen made mention of our group's presence.  For that we were grateful.  Afterwards, we went to stand in line for autographs.  While awaiting our turn, we posed for many photographs of our group.

and Treeva. Front row: Bryan, Lori, and Alisha.

Upon reaching Point of Grace and Danny Wuerffel at the autograph table, a storm of photos, videos, CD cases, Bibles, footballs, and other various merchandise was unleashed!  Point of Grace obliged all with a smile and willingness that could only be heartfelt.  I was impressed with how "real"
the girls of Point of Grace are.

The following day, March 8th, we attended the worship service at First Baptist Church of West Monroe, one of the sponsors of the weekend events.  We enjoyed the contemporary service and Dr. David Uth's sermon titled
"Who Am I?"  In the afternoon, we attended an open house celebrating the 15th anniversary of Mercy Ministries of America at the Mercy House in Monroe.  From there, we traveled to Shreveport, LA to  see
Point of Grace in concert (again!).  The church was packed and an "overflow room" was necessary to accomodate everyone in attendance.  I really enjoyed seeing the girls perform for the second time and hearing "Who Am I?" (which, at this point, seemed to be the theme for the whole weekend.)  This new song won't be released soon enough for me!
At the end of the concert, we couldn't resist getting in line for autographs.  But on this night, we had something very unique for the girls to sign for us.  During the concert, we displayed pen light candles during the performance of "Keep the Candle Burning."  *thanks to Tim!*  These candles, Tim gave to each of us as a keepsake and the girls were able to fit all their signatures on each candle.  He also presented candles to Heather, Terry, Denise, and Shelley who sincerely appreciated them.
As you can tell, I had a very uplifting weekend, so much so, that it rated it's own page!
