BIBLE STUDIES |

Throne of Grace worships in a manner similar to what Jesus, the Apostles, the early church, and most Christian churches have historically done in their worship services. We believe God the Holy Spirit desires to speak to us incarnationally. That is, just as Jesus, the eternally begotten of God who is Spirit became physical/flesh to speak to us in a final way (Heb. 1:1-3) God continues to speak to us spiritually through physical means. God has always done this. Paul, in Romans 1:20 says, " For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse." As God speaks through physical means, in our worship, you will experience a "feast for the senses" seeing, hearing, touching, tasting, and even smelling the presence of God! When we worship, there is abundant singing of praise songs and hymns appropriate to the day and season. As the powerful presence and ministry of the Holy Spirit brings us to the throne of Jesus Christ, we often experience the biblical gifts given to build up the Body of Christ, and also engage in extemporaneous prayer and praise. We bless God, He blesses us and His people are edified. There is teaching. The Bible is read: an Old Testament lesson, a Psalm, a reading from the Gospel, and another New Testament lesson. A substantial sermon is preached, drawn from Holy Scripture, instructing, correcting, exhorting, and building-up the people in the Truth of God's Word. We profess our faith and confess our shortcomings. We ask for God's gracious help. We celebrate and make present before us the wonderful truth of God's Love, His saving acts throughout history, the life and death and resurrection of His Son. And His coming again in power and glory. We remember and rejoice in our salvation. We exchange the Peace of the Lord with greetings and hugs as we come to our Father's house to sit with Jesus in heavenly places to eat the meal of the New Covenant. We share in Holy Communion and renew our oneness with Jesus, our Lord and Savior. At the same time, a prayer and healing team gathers at the altar for anyone who desires God's healing or help with any concern he or she may have. Many come forward, and the team anoints them and prays with and for them. We then participate in a "coffee hour" each Sunday after worship with an agape type meal at various times. These times are about sharing food, fellowship, and love together. Renewed in the Spirit, we go forth into the world. What we've described here is our typical regular Sunday service. Prior to the service there is opportunity to share in a quiet gathering for prayer. During part of the service children may leave to participate in Sunday School. There are also regular services on Tuesday evenings, and we have numerous special events. |
