Whoever the person was that decided that learning has to be repetitive and boring must be a public school official. (Just Kidding!) One point that I stress over and over again for the families jumping into the homeschooling adventure is to have fun. I can't tell you all the great learning experiences we have had while having fun.
Playing games: Board games are great for counting, recognizing colors and shapes and well as sportsmanship.
Cooking and Baking: There is nothing more delicious than making a batch of cookies. Measuring teaches math and fractions, not to mention having those great cookies and a glass of milk while curled up on the couch sharing a good story.
Field Trips: You can't help but to have fun and learn while on a field trip.
While you are having all that fun, get out a camera and take pictures for your log and portfolios, as well as having pictures grandma and grandpa.
