The UFFL was created in 1995 by league commissioner, Dave Torreano.
The league was founded in El Paso, TX and consisted of ten butterbar lieutenants
attending the Officer Basic Course at Fort Bliss. The first UFFL champion was Matthew Lambert, whereabouts unknown. The league then moved to Fort Bragg, NC in 1996 and Brian Thorne dominated the league on his way to the title. The following year, 1997, the Commish defeated Brian in the championship game and claimed the crown. The league expanded to twelve teams in 1998 and went online for the first time. The Big Dawgs and owner Joe Reither defeated the Ridglea Sharks and owner Kevin McBride in a battle of the league's top two teams. Joe will relinquish the crown this year since he left UFFL to particiapte in one of the other UFFL leagues. The original UFFL league is now a keeper league with a group of highly competitive owners and promises to be even more fun in 1999.
Here is a look back at the 1998 season.
