Whitefern's V.C. Andrews Biography
Virginia Cleo Andrews was born in 1924 in Portsmouth, Virginia. She
lived as a child in Portsmouth and Rochester, Virginia. Her father had a
career as a Navy man. Virginia loved to read and did well in art. When she
was fifteen years old she won a scholarship for a literary parody she had
written. Later on in her late teens she fell down a flight of stairs
tearing a membrane and giving her bone spurs. The fall and orthopedic surgery
she had lead her to a wheelchair later on. In 1972 she completed her first
novel, a science fantasy called "The Gods of the Green Mountain". Then
seven years later after other novels and short stories Virginia Andrews sold
"Flowers in the Attic". She continued to write more successful books, but
in December of 1986 that all ended. She left behind many saddened fans.
