The Beginning of 5ive

In 1997 an ad was placed in a British newspaper that caught attention of young aspiring musicians throughtout the country. It read something like, "Five lads needed for a new pop band. Audition to be held in London." The ad was placed by the father and son music management team of Bob and Chris Herbert, famous for having launched the Spice Girls a few years earlier through a similar tactic. Bob and Chris wanted a band with attitude and edge. Those five fresh faces and voices were then singer/rapper/deejay Richard "Abs" Breen(17), Scott Robinson a smart soprano singer(17), Richard Neville a Birmingham singer with matinee idol looks(17), Jason "J" Brown a singer/rapper/producer from a military town(20), and a precocious guy named Sean Colon (15). PLEASE DON'T SEND ME EMAILS TELLING ME I GOT THEIR AGES WRONG BECAUSE I DIDN'T. THOSE ARE THE AGES WHEN THEY STARTED NOT THEIR PRESENT AGE. In no time the guys got a recording contract with RCA Records and then they hooked up with choreographer Paul Domaine and producer Denniz Pop. After all that the guys had things to work out. To avoid confusion between the two Riches, Richard Breen began going by a nickname, Abs, which is not because of his stomach muscles, but short for his middle name, Abidin. The guys had very little time to be creative. They needed a name for the band fast! Well let's see five guys, five different voices and looks. Why not Five? It's simple enough. But, is it "Five", "5", or "5ive"? How should you write it? Anyway you want! Yeah thats right! You do what you want!
