Ranma Saotome is cursed to turn into a girl whenever he is splashed with cold water. When doused with hot water he returns back to a guy. This tragedy occured when he and his father, Genma, traveled to China on a training trip and ended up at the cursed springs. Unfortunately Genma falls into a spring that turns him into a Panda and Ranma falls into one that turns him into a girl. They later travel back to Japan so that Ranma can chose his fianceé. He had an option from three of Soun Tendo's daughters: The oldest is Kasumi, Nabiki, and then Akane. The two older sisters chose Akane for him and thus starts the extremely eventful and funny adventures. Later on, characters such as Shampoo (a Chinese Amazon who was tryin to kill girl-type Ranma and falls in love with boy-type Ranma..she later falls into the springs and becomes a cute little cat), Ryoga ( the eternally lost boy who also fell into the cursed spring, therefore turns into a little black piglet and who tries to defeat Ranma so that he can gain Akane's love), Mousse (a Chinese martial artist that came from China in pursuit of his love - Shampoo..and he also falls into the springs and becomes a duck), Kuno (the highschool's kendo champion who is trying to double date both Akane and girl-type Ranma), Ukyou (an okonomiyaki cook who wields a huge spatula and falls in love with boy-type Ranma), Cologne (Shampoo's great grandmother), and Happousai (the Master of the Anything Goes School of Martial Arts - and the biggest pervert in the cartoon...he steals girls panties and bras).
