The Coral Reefer Band was originally a fictitious group of characters that Buffett would refer to onstage as his "band" when he worked solo. The members included Al Vacado, Kitty Litter, and Marvin Gardens. It became official in the 1970's. For the first 3 ABC albums, "The Coral Reefer Band" referred to whoever played on the sessions. In 1974, Jimmy was ready to form the first actual official "Coral Reefer Band" road unit. Along with Greg "Fingers" Taylor and guitarist Roger Bartlett, he added Philip Fajardo on drums and Harry Dailey on bass. This band toured together for a couple of years before the first of many changes in lineup that would happen over the next two decades.
