Kevin looked over at Kira, who was talking with Tristan at the kitchen table about dresses and colors for the wedding. Inwardly, he sighed, wishing that he could be planning his own wedding. Kira had made it clear that she didn't want to get married any time soon, without directly saying it.
"You know Kev, it's kind of fun planning Tristan and Nick's wedding."
"That's great. Have you had any thoughts aobut planning your own?"
"Not really. I don't know if I'll ever plan my own, you know?"
Kevin turned his attention back to Nick, who was asking whether or not he should sing to Tristan during the wedding or after.
The dresses came in the next week, and Kira went to try hers on with Tristan.
"Tristan," she said, standing in front of the mirror, "Do you think Kevin wants to marry me?"
"Of course he does, why?"
"Last week, he asked me if I thought I'd ever plan my own wedding. I hoped he was hinting at something, but when I made my own hint, he seemed to kind of shut down. He totally dropped the subject."
Tristan turned to look at Kira, "Honey, the only thing he wants is a family. He's head over heels for you. Why can't you realize that?"
"I don't know, I mean I do, but there's this thing in the back of my head saying that I don't deserve him. I've put him through so much. You know that we haven't made love since I lost the baby?"
"Why not?"
"Well, at first, I wasn't ready. Now that I think I am, he doesn't even try anymore. I don't want to just come out and say 'make love to me,' but it seems like that's the only way to get through to him."
Tristan smiled, "Why don't you seduce him?"
"Tristan!"
"When Nick and I first started dating, I made it clear that I wasn't looking for anything serious. When I wanted to move further, I set up a seduction, she said, smiling.
"Maybe that's what I'll do," Kira said thoughtfully.
"Kira!" Kevin called, walking in the door.
"I'm upstairs!" she yelled back.
He walked up the stairs to tell her about his day, and was surprised to find the lights out and candles lit.
"Kira, do you have another headache?"
She stepped out of the shadows, "No."
He turned to look at her and his jaw nearly dropped. She was wearing a long, sheer sleeping gown in pale blue silk. The long, sleek shimmer of silk whispered against her skin as she moved toward him.
"Kira-" he began.
She put a finger to his lips, "No words."
She took his hand and lead him towards the bed.
"Tonight, it's only us," she whispered, running her hands through his hair.
She kissed him softly, unbuttoning his shirt. The cloth fell to the floor as she ran her hands along his bare chest and moved her mouth to his neck.
Kevin's heart raced as Kira's hands traveled over his body, slowly removing clothing. He'd been wanting to make love to her for so long, but was afraid to hurt her.
He put his hands on the back of her neck and drew her closer to him. His mouth found hers, conveying the hunger he felt for her.
Kevin slowly slipped the straps from Kira's shoulders, letting the gown fall soundlessly to the floor.
Without realizing it, they'd moved to the bed, and for the first time in months, Kevin and Kira made love.
