American Pie Fun Facts

Fun Facts:

At the press junket one reporter asked Sean William Scott how he created his character Stiffler. He said that he called up 8 guys that he hated in high school and talked to them for a while. Then took one guys walk, one guys smile etc.,etc..... Sean's really nice in person, nothing like the character that he plays in the movie.

It took four tries for this film to get an R-rating instead of an NC-17.

Actor Chris Klein got his big break in the acting world when he literally bumped into Election director Alexander Payne while he was scouting Klein's high school as a possible shoot location for the movie Election. Months later when Klein was attending college at Texas Christian University, Payne cast him in the co-starring role of Paul Metzler.

In American Pie they make references to the following movies: Graduate, The (1967) Terminator, The (1984) Little Mermaid, The (1989) "Get a Life!" (1990)

The three schools used in the movie are:
Long Beach Polytechnic High School (all classroom scenes, hallway scenes, jazz practice and bathroom scene)
Robert A. Millikan High School of Long Beach (all outdoor scenes, Lacrosse practice, Prom in the gym and in front of the school)
California State University, Long Beach (scene of last lacrosse game of the season, MSU campus and the outside of the music competition)

Some fun tidbits of information about the school locations:
The steps leading up to the prom are actually the steps into auditorium -- not the gym!
The hallway/stairwell with the mural of the people (at school) is at Long Beach Poly. Unfortunately, we weren't able to see it because the stairwell had been sealed off for over 40 years! The mural was painted in the 1940's (or 1950's - I'm not positive) to depict the life of those who had worked and lived in the Long Beach area. In order to protect the mural, the school sealed off the stairwell.
The bathroom used for the unfortunate bathroom incident is actually much nicer now than it was when I went to the school 4 years ago. Amazing what a little Hollywood money can do. . . .

This film was originally sold as the "Untitled Teenage Sex Comedy Which Can Be Made For Under $10 Million Which Studio Readers Will Most Likely Hate But I Think You Will Love". It then went through two other name changes, GREAT FALLS and EAST GREAT FALLS HIGH.

Ben Affleck's baby brother, Casey Affleck, makes a cameo in this film as the "older, wiser brother".

The reason that Shannon Elizabeth (Nadia in the movie) was not in the official movie poster is that she was out of town filming a movie the day they were shooting. The movie aired on UPN called "Dying To Live" and starred Johnathan Frakes from Star Trek fame (played "# 1"). Since the studio had everyone else available that day they went ahead with it. They tried to digitally put her photo in....but could not find a way that made it look authentic.

The slow song playing when Jim walks towards Nadia at the party is called "At Last"

The name of the song that is played during the trailer is called "Laid" and the bands name is James

Alyson Hannigan when on Craig Kilborne mentioned that her famous line, "Say my name bitch" was actually ad libbed
