The Claremont Tigers Football Club was formed in 1902, but failed to join the WAFL until 1926. Since joining the WAFL (now called Westar) they have won 10 premierships, the most recent in 1996.
The West Coast Eagles signed a host club agreement in the 1999 preseason. This agreement means that all players the Eagles recruit will play for Claremont. This makes it easier for the Eagles coaching to keep track of how the rookies are performing. As a result of this agreement, Andrew Embley and his fellow rookies all play for Claremont when not playing for the West Coast Eagles.
