Chapter Three: Water Stops And Brian's Will

Anisa stepped out of her car and into the Florida sun. “I’m never gonna do that again.” She said to no one in particular. She stretched her legs and looked around. After a minute she walked over the Star Mart, having stopped at a Texaco station.

As she walked in she pushed her sunglasses to the top of her head and beathed a sigh or relief. It was air-conditioned.

“Hello.” The clerk said, with a smile.

“Hi.” Anisa said uneasily.

She disregarded the disturbing feeling she had in the pit of her stomach and walked to the back of the store, where the cold drinks were kept. After grabbing a huge bottled water, hoping that she wouldn’t have to stop at another place like this, she walked up to the register.

“Is that all for you?” The man asked.

“Yes.”

“OK. I hope you don’t mind me asking, but what’s a pretty little thing like you doing out here in the middle of no where, all by yourself?”

“I’m just passing through.”

“Where you from?”

“Kentucky.”

“That’s the accent! I should have caught that. Where are you headed?”

“South.” By then he was finished ringing up her water and she had paid him. She turned around and started walking away, water in hand.

“I’d be careful if I were you, darlin'. There are a lot of weird people out there.”

“Yeah, no kidding.” She said under her breath as she walked out into the end of summer heat. She pulled her sunglasses back into place in front of her eyes and got back into her car.

“Forget stretching. I’m not gonna do that ever again either. “ She buckled her seatbelt and turned the key in the ignition.

She was soon back on the road, windows rolled down, and music blaring. But she still couldn’t shake the feeling that she had when she walked into that place. “Remind me to put that on my top ten list of places not to stop on a road trip.”

“Brian, you need to calm down. If you don’t you are gonna give yourself an ulcer.” AJ said. He was sitting on the couch in Brian’s living room, along with Brian, Howie and Nick. Well, Brian wasn’t sitting, he was pacing. “Not to mention that is you don’t stop the pacing you’re gonna put a hole in the floor.”

“Yeah, Bri, stop with the pacing, you’re making me dizzy!” Howie said.

“Bone, you don’t understand. She’s gonna KILL me when she sees me. I just hope she doesn’t know that she’s touring with us. If she does then right now I bet she’s plotting my death.” He said, finally sitting down next to Nick.

“What ever it is that you did, it can’t be that bad, Frick!” Nick tried to assure his friend.

“That’s what you think, Frack. She’s gonna kill me and then she’ll probably try to kill Kevin. You guys are gonna have to go on as a trio. Because I am so dead right now.”

“She’s a nurse, Bri. She helps save people, not kill them.”

“She is a nurse. Which means that she would know exactly how to kill me. She could even make it look like an accident, probably. AW man...”

“Brian?” Howie started.

“Yeah, D?”

“SHUT THE HELL UP!!! She’s not gonna kill you. That’s what security is for, not to mention that you guys were friends when you were younger.”

“Were is the key word in that sentence.”

“Hey Frick?” Nick asked, with a grin. “If does she kill you, can I have your CDs? And your waterbed?”

“HELL NO! They’re coming with me, man! You're weird in the head!”

“Yeah I kn-.... HEY!” Brian, AJ and Howie all burst into laughter.

“What’s so funny?” Kevin asked, walking into the room.

“Nick” The three of them said in unison.

“Oh, OK. Well, it looks like we wont meet up with Anisa until we leave for the tour.”

“You mean, she’s gonna be here, in the area, and we aren’t gonna see her until the tour?” Brian asked.

“Um... yeah. Rok, I’m pretty sure that’s what he means considering that’s what he said!” AJ said.

“And we leave in..... Three days?” Brian asked, hoping her was right.

“Two.” Kevin said, sitting down on the couch. Almost as soon as he sat down, Brian stood up and started walking towards his room.

“B, where you going man?” Nick asked.

“To write my Will. Kevin you might want to do the same.” With that he turned around and walked into his room. As soon as the door was shut the four remaining Backstreet Boys burst into hysterical laughter.
