Prologue

“Mr Littrell, you need to go down to the main office. You have a phone call.” Mr. Montgomery, the American history teacher said.

“OK....” Brian looked slightly confused. He looked at Anisa and shrugged. She just motioned him to go, hoping he would be back before lunch so they could have their talk.

He gathered his books and stood up. Giving her one last look over his shoulder he walked out of the room.

That was the last time she had seen him. Her best friend since they were four. He never came back to class. She didn’t see him at lunch. And he wasn’t at school the next day.

She had called his mother to make sure that he was OK. That’s when she found out that he had gone to Orlando. His cousin Kevin was down there and had called because he wanted Brian to audition for a group that he was in.

That was six years ago.

Anisa Hargrove looked at her Senior year book and sighed. She had given up hope that she would ever see him again a long time ago. She had never got to say good bye to the one person in her life that she knew really cared. But he obviously didn’t care as much as she thought he did.

Anisa shut the year book and put it in the box along with all the others that had been on her bookself. She closed the box and taped it shut. She stood up from her position on the floor and looked around her.

The apartment was small, but just right for her. She had lived there are the last six years of her life. Since she graduated.

‘Well.’ She thought ‘I guess it’s on to bigger and better things now’ She glanced at her watch and grabbed her purse. She still had two days to work before she left. And she didn’t need to be late.
