Part 24

"Hey girls, what have you been up to?" Nick asked, walking into Muzic and Megan's room a few hours later.

"Nothing much. We just unpacked and talked for a little while. How long are we going to be in San Fran?" Megan asked, putting the peice of paper she hand in her hand in the pocet of her shorts.

"Um, we are gonna be here a few more days and then it is back out on the road." Nick said with a smile. Megan nodded.

"Muzic, is there something wrong?" AJ asked, walking over to her.

Muzic looked at Megan for a minute. Her friend only shifted uncomfortably and looked down at the floor. "AJ, I think that we need to go somewhere and talk."

"OK, Babe." AJ looked at Nick, puzzled. All Nick could do was shrug. A moment later he and Megan were left in the room alone.

"So... how have you been?" Nick asked, trying to break the silence that had settled between them.

"I've been pretty good. Muz was sick all last week so I kept busy with taking care of her. But other then that there hasn't really been much to do since everyone went back home for the summer."

"Why didn't you and Muz go back home to....?" It was then that Nick realized that he had no idea where Megan and Muzic were from.

"Portland. I didn't go back because... well, I can't go back there anymore. And I'm not sure why Muzic didn't go. But I think that she didn't want to have to explain to everyone why I'm not going back, ever."

"Oh. That's gotta be tough on her."

"Yeah, but it was something that she decided. I didn't ask her to stay, she wanted to."

"Well, I guess it's a good thing that you didn't go back." Until that point Nick had been halfway across the room from her. It was then that he walked towards her and envolped her in a huge hug. "Cause if you had gone back, then there is a good chance that you wouldn't be here right now. And I'm not sure if I could handle that."

Megan didn't say anything, just hugged him back and thought about what was happening. Was this another problem that risen from her last visit home, or was this something that was suppose to happen to her? Was she destined to have to choose between someone that she had always dreamed of and someone that had slowly made their way into her heart?

"Hey Bone!" Brian called as AJ and Muzic got off the elevator. Muzic smiled and stayed behind AJ. Brian walked over to them.

"Hey Brian, what's up?"

"Nothing much, I was just gonna go out and play some B-Ball."

"They must have known you guys were coming." Muzic said, stepping out from behind AJ. "Normally they don't have basketball hoops at hotels."

"MUZIC!!!" Brian cried, and wrapped her in a bear hug. "It's a good thing you are here. You've saved us from having to listen to AJ whine."

"Brian, shut up, I do not whine."

"Sure you don't AJ." Brian released her and smiled at his friend. "Well, I'm gonna go play. Howie and Kev are gonna go out shopping." he laughed when both AJ and Muzic's eyes lit up. "I'm sure you can catch them." He started walking away. "I'll see ya later, we are all gonna catch a movie in one of the rooms tonight."

"See ya Rok!" AJ called after Brian.

"So, you wanna see if we can find Kev and Howie?" Muzic asked, forgetting all about why she had left the room with AJ in the first place.

"Do you really need to ask?"

Muzic laughed and pressed the elevator button. A moment later they were back upstairs and standing in front of Kevin's room.

"So, what do you wanna do now?" Nick asked from next to Megan. It had been an hour since they had last seen Muzic and AJ, and they had been talking for a while.

"Have you guys figured out what I'm gonna do on the tour so that I can stay?"

"Not yet. What are you majoring in?"

"I'm majoring in journalism, photo mostly, and I'm minoring in music."

"Hmmm." Nick thought for a minute. "I have an idea. It's kind of a streach, but it might work."

"What is it?"

"I can't tell you that."

"Why not?"

"Cause I just cant."

"Fine, be that way." She got up from the bed that they were laying on and walked over to the TV. She grabbed the remote from on top of it and walked back over to the bed.

Before she could turn on the TV, though, Nick grabbed her around the waist and pulled her back down on the bed. Once he had her pinned he started tickling her.

"Hey that's not fair!" She forced the words out between her laughter.

"Why not?"

"Cause you are a lot stronger then I am!" She laughed harder. After a few minutes she was laughing so hard that her sides hurt. "Nick, stop, I can't breath!" He kept tickling her. "NICK STOP!!!" He stopped.

"You OK?"

"Yeah...." She started laughing again. "I haven't laughed that hard in a long time."

Nick smiled at her and laid back down next to her. "You can turn the TV on now."

"Gee, thanks, oh great master of the hotel room." Megan said as she reached down to grab the remote off the floor where it had dropped when he had grabbed her. Once she had grabbed it she situated herself on the bed and turned of the TV.

"As if!" Megan turned the channel. There was no way that she was going to watch Clueless again, and definatly not with Nick.

"Go get your father!" She turned the channel again.

"HEY! Why'd you do that? I happen to like 'Fresh Prince'!" Nick whined.

"Yeah, well, I've seen that episode 8 times in the past year."

"Ouch. Why did you do that?"

"I didn't. Muzic did."

"Wow... that's kinda scary."

"No kidding. Here you take the remote, we can watch whatever you want to watch." She placed the remote on his stomach and turned on her side so that she was facing him.

"You look tired... really tired."

"I'm fine. Just a little out of it."

"You can take a nap if you want to."

"No, I'll be OK."

"OK." he turned back to the TV and started flipping through channels. Five minutes later, after stopping on the History Channel, he looked back at Megan to find her fast asleep, her hands tucked under her cheek, resting on the comforter covered pillow. "Yeah... you'll be OK." He said with a smile before scooting towards her a little and turning back to the TV.

Megan's POV

I was sitting in the hotel room with Nick, when the door was knocked on. I got up and opened it, expecting that the person on the other side would be Muzic, AJ, or one of the other guys. I was surprised to find Justin on the other side. And I was even more suprised at what he did.

He took me into his arms and kissed me, hard. Right in front of Nick. As soon as he left me go I turned to explain to Nick that I didn't care for Justin the way that I did for him, but as soon as I turned around all I saw was the look of heart ache on Nick's face before he dissapeared, walking through the door that Justin had come in...

I began to cry, mumbling about not wanting it to turn out this way. Justin tried to tell me that it was going to be alright but I only pushed him away, telling him that I loved Nick.

Suddenly, realizing what I had said I looked up and Justin, to find the same look on his face as Nick had worn only moments before. He too walked out of the room and out of my life.

I collapsed in the middle of the floor in a fit of tears when another knock came to the door. I opened the door and saw my father...

I shot straight up from my sleep.

"Megan, are you OK?" Nick asked from right next to me. He reached up and whiped a tear that I hadn't taken note of, off of my cheek with his thumb. I nodded, then decided that I wasn't doing either of us any favors by pretending to be OK. I shook my head and started crying. "It's OK. What's wrong?"

"My dream. It was awful!"

"Do you want to tell me about it?" He asked, hugging me to him.

I shook my head. "No... I'm gonna be OK."

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah.... I'm sure." I took a deep breath and relaxed in his arms. This was where I belonged and a pair of diamond earings couldn't change that. I felt Nick kiss the top of my head before leaning back against the headboard of the bed, still hugging me to him.
