Chapter 10

After putting on her dark blue, light blue and white-stripped flannel pants and her dark blue tank top Gwen made her way down stairs. It had been about an hour since Kevin left and she was getting a little worried. She plopped down on the couch and picked up a magazine that was lying on the table.

After leafing through it for a few minutes she heard the door open. “Kevin?” She called softly, getting up from the couch.

“Yeah, sorry I took so long, the pizza place took forever!” Kevin called back hurrying into the kitchen and setting everything down.

Gwen walked in and started unloading the groceries. “What movies did you get?” She asked while setting the chips on the counter.

“Purple rain, The Bone Collector and Only you.” Kevin replied, setting the pizza on the table along with the pop and the popcorn.

“Cool, Only you and Purple Rain are some of my favorite movies, I haven’t seen the bone collector yet though.” Gwen said smiling as she got 2 glasses and sat down on the couch.

“Yeah, same here.” Kevin called from the kitchen, “ I’m going to go change into some sweat pants and a T-shirt, I’ll be right back.” With that he headed up the stairs to his room.

Gwen poured them both a glass of pop and got 2 plates out of the kitchen before putting a movie in the VCR and waiting for Kevin to finish changing.

“So what movie do you want to watch first?” Kevin asked coming down the stairs and plopping down on the couch next to Gwen.

“Purple Rain.” Gwen said, getting them both a piece of pizza from the box.

“Cool.” Kevin whispered as the movie started.

4 Hours Later

As the Bone collector neared the end, Gwen buried her face in Kevin’s arm again.

“I’m such a sissy.” She said laughing when the movie was over.

“You’re right you are!” Kevin said laughing with her.

Gwen gave him a light punch in the arm and got up to put in Only you. As the movie began, Gwen moved a little closer to Kevin and pulled a blanket over her.

Kevin smiled and wrapped his arm around her shoulders as Gwen slowly drifted off to sleep. Kevin tucked the blanket around her and finished watching the movie.

“Gwen?” Kevin whispered after turning the TV off.

“Hmmmmm…” Was Gwen’s only reply as she snuggled closer to Kevin.

“The movie's over, do you want me to take you to bed?” Kevin asked softly, rubbing her shoulder. Gwen just rested her head on his chest and pulled the blanket up to her chin.

Kevin smiled and rolled his eyes. Careful he lifted her into his arms and carried her up the stairs.

“Hmmm….Kevin?” Gwen mumbled, sleepily opening her eyes.

“Shhh, I’m taking you to bed sleepy head.” Kevin whispered walking into her room.

He gently laid her down and pulled a blanket over her. “Thanks Kevin.” Gwen murmured softly squeezing his hand.

Kevin smiled as he leaned down and kissed her forehead. Gwen moved a little and a small smile appeared on her lips.

Kevin left the room, being careful not to wake her and headed to his own room to get some sleep.

~ The Next Morning ~

Gwen woke up and rubbed her eyes, she smiled when she remembered how Kevin had carried her upstairs last night. Slowly she got up and went downstairs humming to herself to make some breakfast. When Gwen got to the kitchen she looked at the clock, it read 8:45.

“This is the latest I’ve slept in a while.” Gwen muttered as she poured her self a cup of coffee.

After putting on the older Madonna CD she’d bought yesterday, Gwen poured another cup of coffee and headed up to Kevin’s room.

“Rise and shine.” Gwen whispered sitting on the edge of his bed.

Kevin just turned over towards her and pulled the covers up more.

Gwen watched him as he slept; he seemed to be at total peace with everything. Slowly she ran her fingers through his thick hair and smiled as he stirred in his sleep. She moved closer to him and gently brushed her hand across his face.

“Hmmm….” Kevin murmured.

Gwen pulled her hand away quickly and set his coffee on the nightstand. She slowly got up from the bed and left the room. Kevin slowly woke up and stretched. He looked over at the coffee left on his nightstand.

“I guess it wasn’t a dream after all.” He whispered smiling to himself, as he took a sip of the hot coffee and got up, after brushing his teeth he headed down stairs.

“Morning.” Kevin called softly into the living room, but there was no one there.

Kevin was a bit confused until he saw Gwen sitting by the pool with her feet in the water.

“Good morning.” He whispered again, sitting down next to her, putting his feet in the cold water.

“Morning.” Gwen said softly, looking at him and smiling.

“So…are you ready for the audition?” Kevin asked taking another drink of his coffee.

“I think so, I’m just really nervous.” Gwen answered, looking down at their reflections in the water.

“You’re going to do great, I know it, you’re amazing.” Kevin said looking over at her.

“I hope you’re right.” Gwen murmured, moving her feat so the reflection was gone.
