Chapter Four

Brian just sat there with his jaw hanging open. She was really good.

"I'll be right back! Don't go anywhere!" Brian ordered and dashed off the bus to get the others.

"Ok!" Gwen shouted after him wondering if she'd done something wrong.

Soon Brian returned with Nick, Kevin, AJ and Howie in tow.

"Gwen would you play that song again, please?" Brian asked.

"Sure." Gwen said slowly and began singing and playing again.

The guys all sat there in amazement. She was really good, just like Brian had said. She showed so much emotion when she sang.

When she was done the guys all applauded loudly and smiled.

"How would you like to do that for some people at our record company Gwen?" Kevin asked.

"Excuse me?" Gwen asked not sure she had heard him right. Did he mean go and audition for a record company?

"I asked if you would like to sing for some people at our record company." Kevin repeated.

"Thanks for the offer, really, but I don't think I can take it." Gwen said sadly putting her guitar back in its case and stood up.

"Why not?" Brian asked in disbelief.

Gwen didn't answer she just got her bag and walked off the bus quickly.

Brian immediately went after her.

"Gwen! Wait a second!" Brian called, gently taking her arm.

Gwen turned to face him.

"I'm sure that I'm not what your record company is looking for Brian." She said trying to pull her arm away.

"Sure you are! You're great, they would love to sign you!" Brian cried, trying desperately to convince her.

"I don't have the time. Look, I've been living off of 100 dollars for the past 2 weeks. I don't want to sound greedy but time is money and I can't afford to stay here and see if your record label will take a chance on me or not." Gwen replied yanking her arm away and turning her back to him.

"You have a gift and I think that you should use it to the best of your ability, and this record deal would help you do that." Brian said softly, putting a hand on her shoulder.

Gwen stood there for a moment, then slowly turned around, "Can I trust you?" She asked.

"What?" Brian said rather surprised.

"Can I trust you that your record company will like me?" Gwen asked again.

"I give you my word." Brian said.

Gwen sighed and turned to the others, "When do I audition?" She asked.

Kevin smiled, "We leave for Florida tomorrow, you'll audition the day after." He replied.

"Alright, well I'd better get going, I need to find a very, very moderately priced hotel to stay in tonight." Gwen said adjusting her backpack on her shoulder.

"Oh no you don't, I don't think you are going to find any hotel that will let you sleep there for the little bit of money you have, you can sleep on the bus." Kevin said motioning to the bus she had just been on.

"Are you sure?" She asked hesitantly.

"Of course, you can sleep in one of the bunks or out on the couch. I would invite you to stay in the hotel but I don't think that you would want to share a room with one of us." Kevin said smiling a bit.

Gwen involuntary glanced at Brian when Kevin mentioned sharing a room. "That would be great, thanks so much guys." She said smiling slightly.
