Chapter Five

They all road to the hotel in silence. When they got there all of the guys climbed off the bus except Brian.

"Do you mind if I hang out here with you for awhile?" He asked stuffing his hands into his pockets.

"Of course not, it's your bus." Gwen replied simply, sitting back down on the couch.

"Ok, cool, I'll just go tell the others, I'll be right back." And with that he jogged off the bus and into the hotel.

Gwen looked around her once again. She spotted what looked like a bathroom and quickly unzipped her backpack and pulled out a pair of worn old sweat pants and a rather big blue T-shirt. Quickly she walked over to the bathroom and stepped inside. She washed her face and brushed her teeth before changing her clothes. She stepped out of the bathroom just as Brian hoped back on the bus.

"Hey Brian." She said softly sitting back down on the couch again.

"Hey, are you sure it's ok if I stay and talk with you for a bit? I'll go if you want to get some sleep." Brian said sitting down next to her, but keeping a respectable distance of course.

"It's totally ok with me, what did you want to talk about?" She asked looking over at him.

"I just wanted to learn more about you." Brian replied simply.

"Ok, what would you like to know?" Gwen questioned.

"Hmm… Where are you from?" He asked leaning back into the couch.

"Sacramento, California." She replied.

"How old are you?"

"19, you?

"24."

"Do you have anything to drink?" Gwen asked softly.

"Of course we do! We have pop, coffee, orange juice…" Brian replied digging through a little refrigerator.

"Do you have any tea?" Gwen asked leaning forward.

"I think so, let me check." Brian said looking through various cupboards and shelves, "Here's some! Is ruby mist ok?" Brian asked holding up the box.

"Yeah, it's one of my favorites." Gwen answered smiling as she got up and walked over to where he was.

"Could you grab a kettle out of that cupboard over there please?" Brian asked motioning to a cupboard while he opened the box of tea.

Gwen quickly grabbed a kettle and set it on the stove. Brian turned it on after pouring water in the kettle. The two sat back down on the couch and waited for the water to warm up.

"So, I take it you guys had a concert tonight right?" Gwen asked.

Brian just nodded his head. He was studying her face, she had beautiful dark green eyes, but there seemed to be sadness to them, as a matter of fact there seemed to be a sadness to her completely, almost as if she had something to hid.

"How'd it go?" Gwen questioned, referring to the concert.

"Very well, I really enjoy performing, and this audience was great." He replied.

"That's good. I heard some of your admirers when they came out. They think you guys are the best thing since sliced bread." Gwen said laughing a bit.

"Well, we are aren't we?" Brian asked flexing his muscles and making a manly face.

Gwen laughed harder. "I don't think so!" She cried.

Brian was about to start pouting when the kettle started whistling, which meant the water was hot. He quickly got up and made them both a cup of tea.

"Thanks." Gwen said as Brian handed her a mug.

"So, how long have you been playing the guitar?" Brian questioned sitting back down with his mug.

"About 9 years." She replied taking a sip of her tea.

"Wow. We could probably give eachother some pointers then." Brian said taking a drink of his own tea. "Well Brian you'd better get back into the hotel and I'd better get some sleep. I'll see you in the morning." Gwen said getting up.

"Yeah, you're right." Brain replied following her example, setting his mug on the counter as he got to his feet.

"Well, goodnight." Gwen said softly.

"Goodnight." Brian answered, as he passed her on the way out he gave her shoulder a little squeeze.

Gwen closed the door behind him and fell asleep.
