"Miss Riley, your daughter is in stable condition as of right now. She did code in the OR and we were successful in reviving her. She is still borderline. Her injuries were very extensive and if she does wake up, she will need extensive physical therapy."
"What do you mean if she wakes up? You just said you were successful in fixing her heart."
"Yes we did infact fix her heart but she was down for so long that her brain didn't receive enough oxygen. This put her into a coma. She may wake up tomorrow, or she may not wake up for a year or not at all."
Those words were like a knife piercing at my heart. The one thing I had in this world and it might be taken away forever.
"When can I see her?"
"Right now. She is down the hall. The last room on the left."
"Thank you doctor."
I quickly grabbed everything I had and walked down the hallway to her room. I quietly opened the door and saw a scary sight. My little girl layed there. She was pale as a ghost and all the life she had in her looked like it was gone forever.
I put all of my things in the corner of the room and pulled a chair up to her bed and grabbed her hand, holding on to it for dear life.
"Leea, baby mommy's here. I'm not leaving until you are all better and ready to go home." I spoke softly and quietly to her while rubbing her blonde hair.
At that moment the tears struck me and I started to cry. I layed my head next to her hand and sang softly to her.
