Chapter Five

"Get off of me!" I yelled and pushed his hands off of me. I jumped up and ran towards Kaleea's bedside. The nurse grabbed me.

"Please, ma'am step out. Let them do their work." she said while escorting me out of the room and back out side. After closing the door in my face, she ran back into the room and began work again on my little girl.

I walked over to the other side where I saw the chairs and sat down in one. I leaned my head back and closed my eyes. One single tear fell down my cheek and I quickly wiped it away. I needed to be strong. If not for myself, than for Kaleea.

The door soon swung open and out walked a Doctor. The same Doctor that had worked on her so many times before. He walked towads me and by the look on his face, I knew there was something wrong. Being a mother, you get these sudden urges, they are hard to explain, but you just know in your heart there is something wrong.

"Miss Riley, the nick that we had sewn up, has reopened. She needs to go under another surgery to fix it. She needs it as soon as possible, but there is another problem."

"What? What more could be wrong?" I asked, trying to hold back my tears.

"We have no type specific blood. She is AB which is very rare. We need a donor or we can't perform the surgery. We need to test you, and if necessary, all the people in this building."

"I don't have a match. I know I don't. I am O negative. Are you sure it has to be type specific?"

"Yes, for this type of surgery it does, if infact we do loose her pulse, she will need blood which her body is familiar with. That is the only kind we can give her."

"I'll get tested." poked a little voice from the corner. It was AJ obviously listening into my converstaion with the Doctor. I was steaming.

"How dare you try to give me false hope. There is no way you could be a match."

"Look he just said that he will test everyone in the entire building. I am a person in this building."

"Excuse me miss," said the Doctor butting in."We are wasting time. Let me just test him anyway. You never know. It its not him then it has to be atleast one person in this hospital. But we have start from here."

"I understand. Just hurry." I said pleadingly while letting my guard down.

"Right this way sir" said Dr. Sutherland. With that he pointed down the opposite corridor from where I was standing and soon was out of sight."
