It was funny; I got a big kick out of it. I brought them all inside and they immediately went straight to the living room where I had told them they’d be. Hmm.. I wonder where they went! I had assummed everyone else was thinking the same thing by the confused expressions on their faces.
Just then the back door swung open and they leaped in singing,
“Oh my god were back again!”
It was a funny sight watching them try to jump in at the same time. I picked up my camera and took pictures galore! I was going to make sure I got these Boys in as many pics as I could!
My friends pulled out their cameras. Obviousely with the same idea in mind.
The Boys made their way to the front of the living room while dodging all my friends who were chasing them down. After awhile they finally calmed down a bit and we watched as each of our men sang and grooved their way into our hearts.
They mostly sang their more upbeat songs like: “Larger Than Life”, “That’s the Way I Like It”, “We’ve Got It Goin’ On”, “Everybody”, and “Lets Have a Party”.
But they also took some other favorites like, “Quit Playin’ Games”, “I Want It That Way”, and “The One” and sang them too.
During the whole thing Nick kept looking at me and smiling.. as if the words he sang were meant for me.
Then they had decided they’d also sing “No One Else Comes Close”. Nick and I made contact the whole time. When his part came up he came over, got down on his knee and held my hand in his and sang,
“ And when I wake up too.. the touch of your head on my shoulder, You’re my dream come true~ oh yeah. Girl you know I’ll always treasure every kiss, and everyday, I love you girl in every way. And I always will cause in my eyes~oh baby... No one else comes close to you. No one makes me feel the way you do. You’re so special girl to me. And you’ll always be eternally..”
After his part ended, he stayed right by my side, and continued singing every word straight to me.
“Aw, Nick..” I managed to mutter through my tears.
He was just so sweet! The song slowly came to a stop. Each guy took a bow as we gave them a standing ovation. They gladly accepted the applause, but the whole time they all had their eyes focused on Nick. They had something planned, but I wasn’t quite sure what.
He hesitated for a moment and then took my hand and asked me the following words, “Mandy.. will you go steady with me? I mean we’re practically going out anyways.. I just thought I’d make it official. So.. would you please do me the honor?”
“Aw, Nick! Of course I will!”
More tears ran down my cheeks. He leaned in for a sweet kiss. I wrapped my hands around him and we shared a nice long hug. I was now in desperate need of a box of tissues, but I really didn’t care. I was just trying to take it all in.
Cheers and whistles flew through the air as a roar of clapping filled the room. Erin wiped a tear or two from her face as well, and came over to me and gave me a hug.
“Oh, Mandy! I’m so happy for you!”
Soon all my pals were getting up and gathering around me and giving me friendly squeezes. I managed to see Nick through the big circle of all my gals. All the guys congratulated him as well. I went over to Nick and gave him a peck on the cheek. “That was so sweet. Thank you.”
“I meant every word of it.”
I smiled as he put his arms around me and scuted closer. “You are just full of surprises aren’t you?”
For the next hour or two we all just sat back and enjoyed ourselves. Of course all my friends made me explain how I met these 5 wonderful and gorgeous men.
They couldn’t believe it. And to tell you the truth, neither could I. I felt as if I were in a dream.
The only difference was that I wasn’t going to be woken up. Because I was well awake and well aware of what had happened. This was for real, and it actually had happened to me. The whole situation was truly amazing.
No one wanted to admit it but they all eventually had to leave. But before they did they wanted to take pictures. Pictures of BSB as a whole and individually with each Backstreet Boy. Then they insisted taking pix of me and Nick together! Like I said... it took forever to get everyone out of the house.
“Thanks you guys. You put on a great show as always! And I know it really meant a lot to them, as well as for me.”
“Hey, it’s no problem. We really enjoy doing it.”
“That’s right. And we’ll do anything for you, Mandy. I mean it. You’re one of us now and you mean a lot to our buddy Nick.”
“Yeah, you sure do!” replied Nick.
“You guys are so great! I’m glad I’ve gotten to spend so much time with you. I’ve had a blast over the past couple of days!”
“So have we! But why are you acting like you’re never going to see us again? It’s like you’re saying goodbye to us. Why? We’re not going anywhere!”
“I know Nick, but you do know I’ve got school Monday - Wednesday right?”
“Yep. I was going to pick you up!”
“In what? Your tour bus?” I said laughing.
“No. I thought I’d get our limo and we could all come pick you up. I mean Wednesday is the last day of school ~ you might as well live it up!”
“You’re crazy! Do you know how many people will gather around the limo?!?! Everyone will see you!”
“Good! Then they’ll know we’re an item.”
I looked at him and started shaking my head, “You’re nuts, you really are.”
“Only about you babe, only about you.” We continued to get all luvvy- dubby- mushy- mushy on each other and then fell into each others arms and laid there quietly.
I woke up early Sunday morning on the couch. I must’ve fallen asleep while in Nick’s arms last night. I closed my eyes and smiled at the thought.
All the fellas were spread all over.. on the couches, recliners, and just on the floor! I leaned against the arm of the couch, yawned and then stretched. When I did I took a big whiff. I smelled something. Wow! It smelled really good! I got up from the couch and looked up. I saw Nick in the kitchen.
“No way! My boyfriend can actually cook?!?”
“Yep. But I never said it tasted good! Here. Take a bite. Tell me what you think.”
He brought me over a fork filled with food on it. “Well, it smells good.. but are you sure it won’t give me food poison?” I asked sarcastically.
“If it does I’ll be the first one to offer you a ride to the hospital! Come on! Try it. It can’t be all that bad!”
“Yeah but ya never know.. I mean afterall.. you did make it Nick!”
“Hey! What’s that supposed to mean?!?”
“Oh nothing..” I said with a little snicker.
“Hey! I asked you a question!”
Nick came over to me and started to grab my side.. he knew I couldn’t handle being tickled right now. “Okay, okay, okay. You win! Hand over the fork.”
“No.”
“What? I thought you wanted me to try it!”
“Nope. Changed my mind.”
“Huh?”
“Yep.. I don’t think you deserve to try my food right now.”
“Oh I see how you are. Fine then. Two of us can play at that game!”
We went around making jokes about each other and acting plain stupid. I was eager to try it. It smelled really great.. and by now I was starvin’.
“C’mon Nick. What will it take to let you let me try it?”
“Hmm... let me think of something good..”
“Nick!” I came over and wrestled the fork out of his hand. Just as I thought I could stick the fork in my mouth, he got a better grip and started pulling it out of my mouth. “Hey! I don’t think so! I’m gettin’ a bite of this!”
I pulled my mouth closer and got it half way into my mouth.. that was about as close as I’d get to it so I went ahead and took a bite. Then I let go of it which startled Nick and made him fly back a few steps.
“Mmm.. this stuff is actually good!!!! What’s in it?!?”
“Ah, but a chef never gives his secrets away!”
“Chef! Ha! Hardly!”
“Oh, and like you could do better! Right!”
“Oh I know I could! Is that a challenge Carter?”
“You bet! No.. never mind.”
“Why you backing out? Huh? Afraid you’re going to lose to a girl?”
“No. I just don’t want you to be upset when you LOSE to me! That’s all!”
“Oh whateva! I’d beat you by a long shot!”
“Right.. well.. you can just go ahead and think whatever you want to, but I know I’d win..”
He grabbed a hold of my two wrists.
“What do you think you’re doing?”
“This.”
Before I could ask what it was Nick was going on about, he took some of the batter of the pancakes he was in the middle of making, and took a big handful of the goop and rubbed it on my nose and eyelids.
“Nick!!!! Stop it!! EW!!”
“Oh no.. what’s wrong? Does Mandy have some yucky stuff on her?!? Poor baby! Oh wait.. you’re missin a spot! Here you go.”
He then spread it all over my lips and cheeks.
“Nick!! Quit it!!! Please!!!”
“Well since you asked so nicely.. no.”
“What? Come on! Let me go!”
“Are you insane?!?! I’m NEVER going to let you go!”
I looked at him sweetly.
“Thanks but um.. you’re going to have to for..oh.. I don’t know 10-15 minutes while I go clean up!”
“Oh how will I survive?!?”
“You’re going to hafta deal with it.”
“OOh.. tuff girl huh?”
“Hey.. when I have PANCAKE BATTER on my FACE! I tend to get that way! Geez.” I started to laugh and said, “I can’t believe you did that!”
“And why not?”
“Cuz..it was uncalled for!”
“Oh, so is this?” He leaned in for a sweet-pancake-tasting-kiss.
“No definitely not.” He gently let go so I decided to make my move.
“Nick! You have batter on your face now too!”
“Really? Where?” He pointed to spots as if asking if it was there.
“No where! Ha!” I turned the corner and ran.
“Hey! Where you going?!”
“To wash my face!!”
“Oh, well I’ll get you when you come back down.”
“Oh no you won’t!”
“We’ll just see about that!”
“Yes we will!” I laughed until I got into the restroom.
He was absolutely nuts. But ‘that’s the way I like it’. I wouldn’t change anything about him! Well.. maybe except the fact that he has the urge to put stuff like batter on my face! But other than that.. nothing.
“So.. was that the last of the pancakes?” AJ asked jokingly.
“Nah. There’s plenty more. So how long have you all been watching?”
“Long enough to see you flirt with Mandy! Man, Nick! You don’t make it obvious at all buddy!”
“So what’s up with the pancake batter on the face man!”
“I really don’t know Rok! When I’m around her.. my mind just kinda turns to mush! I don’t really think what I’m doing!”
“I noticed! But it was cute! I remember getting that way with Leighan-...” Silence.
“Umm..Excuse me, I need to go wash up too.”
Brian stepped into the restroom and closed the door behind him.
“He’s always wanting to end or ignore any of the conversations about her you know that Kev?”
“Yep. And I hate seeing my cousin like that. We need to do something about it. Someone needs to talk to him. But I really don’t think it should be one of us though..”
“What? You suggesting Mandy talk to him?”
“Do you think she would? She seems to be a really good person to talk to and she seems like a great listener.. which is what Bri needs.”
“I agree with you. And I’m sure she will. I’ll ask her later if she’s up to it.”
“Thanks man.”
“No prob.”
I finally got all the gritty-grimy-muck off my face and went back downstairs slowly.. unsure of what to expect. Instead of more stuff flyin’ at my face, I found the guys sitting at the table, waiting for me like gentlemen. How nice. As I got ready to pull my chair out Nick ran over and did it for me instead.
“Yeah right!”
“What?”
“After our lil’ pancake mess.. how do I know you won’t scute the chair from under me or something?”
“I guess you don’t.. I guess you’ll just have to trust me on this one. You can do that can’t you? Just trust me for a split second?”
“Hmm.. I’m not sure..”
“Oh so now you don’t trust me?!?”
“Please say you do so we can eat! I’m so hungry!”
“Ohh. Sorry Kevin!”
I looked back at Nick and he assured me, “I trust you.”
I smiled.
“Don’t worry.. I trust you too, Nick. I was just playing earlier. But I really do trust you Nick... just please don’t do anything that’ll make me question or doubt your trust.”
“Oh I won’t!”
Nick signaled me to sit down and he pushed my chair in.
“Thanks.”
He sat in the chair beside me and we all filled our mouths. “All I have to say is, ‘It’s about time!’ I don’t think my stomach could’ve handled waiting through anymore of that!”
“Well I’m sorry we were rude to your stomach AJ.”
“Apoplogy accepted.”
“Apology? Right. Ok..”
When AJ was going to add some other stupid comment to his and Nick’s conversation the phone rang. I grabbed the cordless and sat back down. It was Crystal.
“Hey! How are you?” I asked while digging into Nick’s “Mystery Food”.
“Fine! But I was wanting to know if I’d see you and Nick at the prom!”
“Oh my gosh! I can’t believe I forgot about that! You’re still going with Joey right?”
“Yes. I can’t wait to go with him! You can still get tickets at the door you know. Have you talked to Nick about it yet?”
“Not yet. I still have to ask him. That’d be nice if we went together though! I’m sure we’ll show up!”
“Good! Can’t wait to see you there girl!”
“Me either! I’ll talk to you later. Bye.”
“Ask me what?” Nick asked suspiciosely.
Just as I was going to spit the words out of my mouth and ask Nick to go to the prom with me the phone rang once again.
“Hold on Nick... Hello?”
“Hey Mandy.”
“Hi Trisha!”
When AJ heard her name mentioned, his eyebrows raised in interest.
“Yeah I’ll ask him.”
RRRIIIINNNG!
“Hi. What? Ok. Alright Diana. I’ll ask but no guarantees.”
“Thanks. I understand. Bye.”
“So what was that all about?”
“Well Nick, how do you feel about going to..”
RRRIINGG!!
“Man! I need to unplug this thing! Hello?”
“Guess what?!?”
“What?”
“I just got a call from Aaron!”
“Really? What’d he say?”
“He wants to go to the prom with me!”
“Nikki! That’s great! But what are you going to wear?”
“That’s what I wanted to talk about. See I don’t know. I still have to shop for a dress. Do you think you and Nick could go shopping tommarrow after school? You are bringing Nick right?”
“Of course! I just haven’t gotten to it yet! Everytime I get ready to the phone rings!”
“Oh I see! ..Guess I need to call Stephanie then!.. She was planning to call you when I was done.”
“Could you? I’d appreciate it so much! Ok Nikki. C-ya.”
“You going to tell us or not?!?”
The curiousity was starting to get to Nick.
“Nick, would you go to the prom with me?”
“Yeah! I’d love to!”
“Cool!”
“When is it?”
“Tuesday night!”
“Geez! That really gives me a lot of time to get a tux!”
“I know I’m sorry. I got caught up in the past couple of days and I just totally forgot about it! But I’m so glad you said yes!”
“Of course I did! And plus, I wouldn’t want you going with anyone else!”
“Good! Cuz I wouldn’t want to go with anyone else!”
AJ interrupted us by blurting out, “Ok, ok. Enough of that. What did Trisha have to say?”
“She was wanting to know if you’d be interested in going with her. She thought you two hit it off so she thought she’d call up and give it a shot. But if you have other plans she said she’d understand.”
“No! I’ll go! It’ll be neat; especially since I didn’t have the chance to go to my junior or senior prom.”
“Here. Call her.”
I handed the phone to him and he started dialing. He already had memorized her number just from calling her last night!
“Oh I amost forgot! Kevin.. I know you’re with Kristin right now, and Brian- well umm.. I know you have been having some problems lately but I was curious if you, Kevin and Howie would like to come along? Diana has a few friends who need dancing partners. Will you three come along with them as friends?”
Howie agreed.
Kevin on the other hand said he’d have to discuss it with Kristin first, but he was sure he’d come too.
Brian replied, “I’ll go. It’s a good idea. It’ll help get my mind off things..”
The room got quiet, and Brian was still unsure of what he had just said.
“Well..great! Nikki and I were gonna go shopping tomorrow after school. Do you wanna meet us there?”
“Yeah. We’ll be waiting for you.”
“Alright! This is going to be so much fun!”
I glanced at my watch. 9:20. “Wow! I need to get ready! I’ve gotta be up at church at quarter till! Nick the breakfast was delicious sweetie!”
I flew up the stairs and threw on a blue-silky skirt and a speghetti strap shirt along with it. It too was blue, but it included little white fluffy clouds on it. It was always a little chilly inside the church, so I put a white quarter-length sleeved shirt over top, leaving it unbuttoned.
Cute! I slipped on a pair of dress shoes, messed with my hair a bit, and ran back down the steps.
The most 5 gorgoeus guys in the world stood around all dressed in their Sunday best. AJ was just finishing running a brush through his hair.
“Well you look very nice.”
I accepted Nick’s comment, and in return passed one along his way as well. “Thanks! You too! But.. I think you need a little help with that tie.. am I right?”
“You got it babe! I hate trying to tie these things! I’m horrible at it!”
“I can tell!”
“You’re so funny.”
“I know I am! There. All done.”
“Thanks. Well.. looks like we need to head on out if you’re going to make it in time!”
“Yes we do!”
“You fellas ready?”
As soon as they were, we all managed to pile up in my mom’s van. I would’ve took everyone in my car, but it wasn’t possible to get 6 people in a convertable. Not comfortably anyways. None the less; we made our way to church.
