Chapter Fourteen

Surprisingly I was the first one to arrive from my youth choir. I introduced Marge (our choir director) to all the guys. Her first words out of her mouth were, “Ohh.. So these are the young men you talk about all the time! She always is talking about you all! i mean, whenever we sing I tell her to sing like she would to a Backstreet song! It seems to always get her motivated!”

Nick looked over with a big smile crossing his cheeks. Aw... that smile!....

After awhile of Marge chatting about me this.. and me that.. others arrived. Erin of course was late - as always! I introduced the fellas to Mallory, Caitlin, Candra, Jeremy, and Constance. Erin about flipped out when she saw them standing in our church! I know the feeling!

“No way!” AJ remarked, “Is he the only guy singing?”

“Yeah.”

“Well we’re just gonna have to change that!”

AJ grabbed a mic and asked, “Would you mind if we sang along”

“Not at all! I think it would be great! The more the merrier!” Marge replied; that seeming to be her favorite phrase.

“All right!” shouted AJ.

Everyone followed AJ’s lead and went up on the stage. Within minutes they all learned the words to the song. We were nervous about singing with the Backstreet Boys. After all, their voices are truly amazing! Our’s aren’t quite up there yet, but we sang out hearts out anyways. We listened to the recording and all agreed that it sounded awesome.

Once we noticed other people from the congregation appearing, we headed back to our seats.

Lots of little girls; including the Turners; came over and wanted hugs. Chloe and Caitlin (two of the Turner family) are twins and were both born on January 28th - Nick’s birthday!

Nick thought that was the neatest thing and he gladly gave them hugs, and his autograph. It was obvious that they enjoyed seeing him very much. Who wouldn’t!

Prudence (their older sister who also loves BSB) walked over and wanted to meet Brian. It was so cute and the guys were so sweet and patient with them!

The church bell rang and the crowd parted as everyone took their seats once again. After the announcements and a few songs had finished; we were up. 'Well, here goes nothing!'

There we stood in front of everyone at church. The crowd was unusually big today. We hadn’t even began to sing when girls and a few guys started cheering us on. Parents tried to keep them quiet but nothing seemed to work. They soon gave up.

The music started and we all sang. We weren’t worried or nervous in the least bit.. well not me anyways. I guess because Nick standing by me, made me feel at ease. That’s what happens when I’m around Nick, he just makes me feel really comfortable and relaxed; it feels so right whenever he’s near.

I continued singing and REALLY got into it! It sounded unbelievably terrific!

When the song came to an end, everyone immediately raised out of their seats and gave us a standing ovation which seemed to have lasted forever. As we went back to our seats we received pats on the back along with plenty of comments from various members of the church.

The preacher then started his sermon and we listened intently. Following the service, Randy our preacher, came over and thanked us for coming and told us he was totally amazed by their voices.

After talking with the guys for a while, he soon noticed how strong their faith really was and gladly invited them to come back and join us for another service.

Nick looked up at Randy and replied, “Thanks. I think we’ll be taking you up on that offer!”

“Great! I hope to see you all back very soon then!”

“Oh I’m sure you will!” Nick said with confidence as he looked at me and smiled, “As long as Mandy will let us come back with her that is!”

Randy laughed and said, “Oh I don’t think she’ll mind too much!”

“Nope! Not at all! I’d love for you to come with me again! See you later Randy!”

We jumped back into the van and took off. On our way back home, we decided to stop in at Ryan’s (a great restraunt with a variety of food) for lunch.
