We giggled, while the little girl watched so amazed. “Aw.. she’s so adorable!”
“She is a cute lil’ thang isn’t she?” asked Nick.
“Sure is.”
A lady got on the intercom, and announced that flight 1051 had just arrived.
“That’s them!”
We waited for them to come through the entrance. As always, they were the last to get off. They put their stuff down, and we all went over for hugs. Nick just kind of stood there unsure of what to do.
“Oh, I almost forgot!” I pulled Nick over, “Mom, dad, this is Nick..”
My dad stood back.
My mom also shocked said, “Yeah we know! Oh my!”
They all knew how big of a fan I was of his, and absolutely couldn’t believe he was standing there, his arm around me. My dad and Nick exchanged handshakes. Then we went to gather all of their luggage.
They wanted to know how in the world I had met Nick, so my sister listened intently as we told the story again, for like the billionth time now.
Once all their stuff was packed into the car, my parents got out the souvenirs they had gotten in Florida. Tony was handed some kind of baseball video game. Cassandra had gotten a BSB keychain, and a little figurine that she had wanted (for some reason) the last time we were in Florida, and went into the crazy store, “Alvin’s Island”.
My dad handed me back a wrapped gift. I opened it. It was a bottle of Gravity- Nick’s favorite cologne.
My dad laughed and said, “I don’t think you really need it- now that you can smell what it’s like on Nick himself!”
I felt so stupid.
Ever since I had found out his favorite cologne was Gravity, I had wanted to have a bottle of my own. That way, I could have an idea what Nick smelled like! I told my mom and dad about that a LONG time ago, I couldn’t believe they remembered it. I know it sounds corny, but I really thought it would be cool to have my own bottle of it.
Nick looked at me and said, “What is he talking about?” I felt so dumb explaining my reason for wanting it. He looked at me, flashed that radiant smile and said with a little laugh, “Well, I think it’s kinda sweet..”
“Really?”
“Well yeah. In a weird, sort of way.” He leaned over and gave me a peck on the cheek.
“Hey, hey, hey. None of that in my car!” My dad exclaimed half- serious.
“Well, that’s my dad for ya!” I whispered to Nick, “You’ll have a blast with him later I’m sure! He’s soo overly protective when it comes to me and guys. Just to let you know..”
Like my mom had promised; she was taking me to get my hair and nails done. She wanted to make sure I brought my dress with me so before they did my hair, I could just slip it on, without having to worry about messing it up once they had finished.
I flew down the stairs.
AJ, Brian, Howie, and Kevin, had already left. They decided to have a “Guys Day Out” before prom.
To my surprise, Nick had stayed back.
I carried the dress in the bag it had come in, and asked Nick why he had stayed back.
“Your dad wants to “bond” with me before I take you anywhere tonight..”
“Oh, good luck!” I said as I gave him a quick hug, and raced out the door.
“Hey! Where are you heading?” He called after me.
“I’m going to pretty her all up for you!” shouted my mom from inside my car.
I smiled and waved to Nick. He muttered something under his breath, then watched us leave.
After they pulled out of the driveway, I stood there and thought to myself:
Pretty her up?!? She can’t get any prettier! “Are you ready Nick?” asked her father.
“Umm, yeah, I guess so.”
“All right, let’s go!”
Go where?
