Chapter 5

Amy and I raced to the steps when it finally hit me. I’m actually gonna see BSB! Here! Live! ahhh!

I glanced at Amy. She had to have been thinkin the same thing, because the first words out of her mouth were, “We are gonna see BSB! Can you believe it?!? Hey! Who knows! Maybe we’ll find our ‘perfect moment’ here!” she joked.

“Oh I doubt that! There’s no way I can have a ‘perfect moment’ in the concert! The WHOLE thing is gonna be PERFECT!!!!! ... Unless of course, Nick just so happened to come up and was to give me a kiss or something..”

“That’d be awesome if something like that would happen!” she announced agreeingly.

We continued walking up the many flights of stairs. “There’s just too many of these things!”

“Oh I know what you mean! By the time we finally reach the top, the concert will be over!”

We giggled the rest of the way, finally coming to the last step. “Oh thank heavens!”

We made our way inside the huge building. By just walking in, we could already feel all the energy and rush floating around in the air. I loved it!

There was still plenty of time before the show, so we went ahead and stood in the 30-person (if not more) line for a concert shirt.

It was so cool to see CINCINNATI, OHIO printed on the back. Only 10 min away from where we live!

We slowly got through the crowd and found our seats. The lady told us when we got the tickets that we were the 5th floor row. Well, all the floor seats were for those people who had gotten tickets from radio stations or contests; so our row was the 5th row behing the floor seats.

We were still pretty close! I had brought a set of binocculars in case I needed them, but from here, there was no need.

Other fans swarmed in. I looked around at their seats, and felt bad for those who were way, way, way up there. You could just barely see them!

Amy and I had gotten there a little early, hoping to spot them getting off their bus, or signing some autographs before the show, which they are known to somethimes doing so. We waited and waited and waited. Fifteen minutes passed and we gave up hope.

Then we got the urge to pee. We got up and went to the restroom. We figured we might as well go ahead and go now, instead of waiting and having to go later on in the concert.

There was a long line of fans waiting for us when we got there; obviousely with the same idea. Can’t say I blam em! Afterall.. who would wanna get up while BSB serenades us, to get up and pee!?!!!!!? Not me!

Somehow we finally reached the stalls, then desperately tried to get back to our seats, but it was extremely difficult to do so, with everyone racing around, doing last minute shopping.

Not a single seat laid empty. I looked down at my watch surprised by the time.

8:00- Showtime!

Showtime! ~ Or so I thought. 8:00 soon turned into 8:30 - everyone was growing very impatient. The wave got started by some bored fan.. we took it around the whole Firstar Center.

It took a while to go all the way around but we ended up doing it 10-15 times! We were about to start the next round when BSB music came on. We all froze. Then started going nuts!

We all looked up as we saw the Sear’s commercial with the Backstreet Boys flash on the huge screens above us. Everyone in the audience cheered and watched in awe, as our favorite 5 guys in this whole world ran through our eyes as we watched them in action.

The commercial was really neat. Much better than the one they aired on tv! And much longer!

Once it was over though we expected BSB or Mandy Moore to come out. The lights had dimmed. And Nothing happened. Eventually the lights went off. And someone introduced Mandy Moore over the loud speaker.

She came out and sang a few of her songs off her new album, including what was her first hit, “Candy”. (Which by the way I love!)

Fifteen minutes later or so, EYC came on stage and performed. They absolutely took forever! The songs dragged on and on! So much so, that once they finished one, we all I assumed it would be their last ~ nope!

*Eventually, I had the urge to pee!* So I got up and went to the restroom once again. The line was longer than it was before. I waited and waited for the line to move up or at least budge even the tiniest bit. But of course with my luck, nobody moved.

So I started chatting with the girl in front of me to overcome my boredom. We talked until we reached the stalls. Found out her favorite is Brian and she (supposedly) met BSB and got their autographs when she saw them at a theme park. Yeah right. I mean.. it might’ve been true but it was kind of hard to believe anyone at the concert.

They all seemed to have a story of when they met them.. and some were just so unreal! And it was even noticable that they were lying! You could see it written all over their face and in the statements they made!

After a long time of being pushed and shoved by the frenzy of fans that were in a hurry to get back to their seats, I found Amy and took my seat once again.

To my surprise EYC was STILL performing. After what felt like a century of waiting they FINALLY got off the stage.

Twenty minutes later we heard screaming across the room.

Amy and I were on the front side of the stage.. but the screaming was coming from the other side. We looked around frantically.. but didn’t see anything!

I was going nuts trying to figure out why so many fans were screeching. I took a look at the stage.

There we saw 2 hands popping out from one of the openings.. and waving at us! Amy and I stared at the stage forever waiting for them to pop out or do or say something. Not a thing.

That’s when we noticed this big black box. Smoke came poring out from the top. We went absolutely balastic! (Later figured out.. the hands were from the band members!) Smoke, smoke, and more smoke. ~ That’s all we could see!

Then suddenly at no particular time, BSB rose out together on blue surfboards and were led by strings where to go.

I brought my camera with me.. but I was too busy watchin’ the guys’ every single move, and jumping up and down to take any decent pictures! So I just watched, and awed, and swooned as I saw Nick fly above me and onto the stage to sing their awesome song- about us! ~ “Larger Than Life”.

This is just so cool! It’s...it’s..it’s perfect!!!!

Just when I thought the concert couldn’t get any better.. it did.

They flew back out into the audience and all went in different directions. Kevin was to the left of me, AJ to the right, Howie next to him, then Brian. While Nick flew right on our side!!! Infact.. he was directly above us! He spotted us, smiled, and then waved!

...Of course I waved back! ...Along with every other girl near that section! No one was exactly sure who he was waving to, so we all just waved in response to him.

Then they started doing flips, hanging upside down and singing at the same time! The boys couldn’t be more talented!!!! Later on, they ended up back on the stage. .. That’s when they performed their other great songs.

Their stage was so cool!

It not only rotated; which allowed everyone to see each Backstreet Boy from each angle, but the stage itself, would transform and come together and form a little stage above that!

I thought it was pretty neat when Nick rapped with the new-comer! Oh, and when Kevin was lifted up on his piano...The whole concert was awesome!

The last (encore) song that they sang, was one of my favorite.. “I Want It That Way”! Close to the end of it, they walked around each side of the stage, and bowed. I thought it was a really cute idea! That way each and every person could see them end .. together!

Unfortunately after the song, it all ended. That was it. I couldn’t believe it was over already! It just happened so quick!

Slowly all the fans, started to head out; while Amy and I stayed put waiting for the stampede to settle down a bit.

Everyone raced outside hoping to see the boys get on their tour bus. No one saw them. So instead, everyone crowded around the radio stations that were set up live outside. They asked the fans to talk about the concert and how it was. Which they gladly and very excitedly did. Every station was playing different BSB songs. Both from their old and newer album.

Eventually everyone packed up and headed their way towards the parking lot. Amy and I on the other hand, still stood by their tour bus hoping to see even the slightest glimpse of them. After 15 minutes or so, we gathered up our stuff and gave up.

Amy asked if I was ready to head back.

“No.. actually I think I’ll just stay up here for awhile. I’ll just take a cab back home, ok?”

“Yeah, sure. That’s fine. I’ll c-ya tomorrow, then?”

“Yeah. Thanks for the ride over!”

“Anytime!”

Amy made her way down the long steps of stairs, as I watched her leave.

I turned around to take one last glimpse of the Backstreet Boy’s tour bus.. when I smacked right into....

“......Oh my gosh....!..!.”

I tried talking again; no words coming out. I swallowed hard and tried a second time. Stuttering I barely replied, “I...I...I’m ...so..sorry! I didn’t see you there! O-M-G!....I can’t believe....”

He looked at me with those gorgeous blue eyes, and oh-so-sexy smile of his. He had a big grin on his face. And all of a sudden words came out of those lucious lips, of none other than NICK CARTER!

“No, really.... It was my fault. I.. I shouldn’t have been standing so close to you....”

This time it was him who was stuttering! No way! Could Nick actually be intimated by me? Is he actually nervous? Oh, man!
