There was a huge banner that read WELCOME HOME, MEGS! across the front archway. She was so surprised and was glad that Nick was standing behind her because she almost fell over. Aaron and Angel were the first to notice that she was there, and began running towards her yelling, "MEGS IS HERE! MEGS IS HERE!" in unison. She bent down and gave each of them a hug.
When she stood back up, Nick whispered in her ear, "Welcome Home." She turned around and looked at him.
"You told me they had all gone off in there own direction!"
"They did, Frick went to get the decorations, Kev took BJ and the rest of the kids to design the banner and get it made, and Howie went with Mom and Dad to pick out the cake. My job was to get you out of the house and keep you out until 4:30. I didn't tell you one lie and I still got the job done so there!"
While they were having this conversation, Brian had come up behind Megan and when Nick finished his sentence he grabed Meg by the waist, scarring the living crap out of her. "May I have this dance?" She tipped her head back and looked up at him (Yes I did say looked UP)
"Sure, why not?" She turned around and faced him. Grabbing the hand he was offering her she followed him out to the dance floor, which was really the dining room that had been cleared out.
"So what did you and Nick do today?'
"We went out to lunch at restaurant that we got kicked out of ten years ago and swore would never let either of us back in. Then we went and saw Batman & Robin. It was the most God-awful movie I have ever seen." He laughed. "Then Nick took me to the park we use to go to when we were little and...." She looked at the floor.
"And what? Did Nick do something stupid?"
"No. I was the one crying my eyes out."
"Oh? And may Big Brother Bri ask why you were crying?"
"I caught my boyfriend cheating on me two weeks and as I was putting the necklace that I gave Nick on him I broke down. I just couldn't hold it in any longer. Then we got into this big talk about relationships."
"Um, while we're on that subject can I talk to you about what you saw yester-"
"I know it wasn't what it looked like." she cut him off. "BJ explained everything to me."
"Good." The song ended and she walked over to where Nick, BJ, Howie, Leslie, and Kevin were standing.
"Why did you wait to throw this today?" Nick looked at her and gave her an interesting smile. "Nickolas Gene Carter, What have you done? C’mon tell me!!!", she was whining.
"Well, we have a little surprise for you." He went into the kitchen and came out with a girl about 19 years old, with shoulder- length brown hair and light blue eyes. And a 16-year- old boy with very short dark hair and the same blue eyes. Apparently Brian hadn’t been introduced to Kaytee cause his jaw dropped when he saw her.
"KAYTEE! SHAYNE! Oh, my god, is that really you?" Meg ran to her friends and gave them huge hugs. "What are you doing here? How did you get here? When did you get in?", she asked Kaytee.
"Calm down Sweets, give her time to think."
"Sweets? Interesting." Shayne commented
"I'm the only one allowed to call her that cause she's my sweet little sister!"
"Bite me, Nick!" He bit her. "Ouch! I didn’t mean literally! You can be so stupid sometimes."
"What did he do this time?" Brian asked as he walked over to her.
"Brian, did you know about this?" He shook his head. "You liar. You were all in on it!"
"OK, I admit that I knew that your friends were coming, but..."
"But what? Nick! Dont tell me you didnt introduce them!
"OK I wont."
"AHHHHHHH! You are so dumb! Well, anyway Brian this is my good friend Kaytee Mills, and her little brother, another good friend, Shayne Mills. Kaytee, Shayne, this is another one of my adoptive big brothers, Brian Littrell. Now was that so hard Nick? It took me a whole thirty seconds. Kaytee who picked you up at the airport?"
"AJ"
"Sorry."
"Why? He was a gentleman."
"That doesn't sound like him. He’s usually very……high strung", Brian informed her.
"Well, how long are you going to be staying?'' Megan was asking but Kaytee and Brian where deep in conversation. And BJ and Shayne seemed to have hit it off.
"Let’s leave them alone. May I have this dance?" Nick was asking her.
"Anytime." Seeing that Nick was taking Meg out to the dance floor AJ, the DJ for the night, put the CD they were going to release that summer in the states, and played number 7. Nick recognised the music and looked at AJ, who just smiled. "Nicky?"
"Yeah?"
"Will you sing to me, please?" They were dancing together in the middle of the floor. She rested her head on his on his shoulder, and he wrapped his arms around her waist, holding her as close as he could. He started whispering the words to the song in her ear.

Both of them had their eyes closed so they didn't know that they were the only two people on the dance floor. Everyone else was watching them.
Including Bob and Jane.
Even Brian and Kaytee stopped talking when Brian noticed how close Nick and Meg were. He had told AJ what Meg had told him, about Matt. "Look at the two of them." Kaytee whispered to Brian.
"It's about time! They've been driving me crazy for the past year!
"They've been driving you crazy? You should hear Meg when she gets home from her stays down here, all I hear for a month is 'Nick this, Nick that’."
Brian chuckled to himself thinking 'That’s nothing, what I've seen is enough to make anyone sick to there stomach' but he didn't say it, he didn't want to make her laugh and ruin his friend's moment
When the song ended they just sorta stood there. 'I need to tell her.' Nick thought. I need to tell her how I feel.
They hadn’t let go of each other. It didn’t look like they were going to so AJ put another slow song on. This time it was 'Truly, Madly, Deeply'. Other couples moved on to the floor (friends). Among them were BJ and Shayne.
Brian asked Kaytee to dance and she accepted (DUH!). As they moved out on the dance floor, Brian looked at Megs and Nick. They hadn’t changed position at all, she had her arms around his neck, and Brian saw she was smiling, but he also saw that she had tears in her eyes. They were still closed though.
He led Kaytee to the other side so he could see Nick.
His head was resting on the top of hers (that's how short she is) and his eyes are still closed. He looked happy though.
It looked like to get any closer on a dance floor wasn’t humanly possible.
They danced to another song after 'Truly, Madly, Deeply' and then they were pried apart by Aaron, (Who, by the way, was getting paid ten dollars by Brian.) when he asked her to dance with him.
She looked up at Nick, he nodded, and let go of her. He walked over to where Brian was standing with Kevin, Shayne, and BJ.
"How much did you pay Aaron to go ask Meg to dance?" Nick asked Brian casually.
"What makes you think I would do such a thing?"
"I know you!" Nick wasn’t mad he just wanted to know.
"That's classified information"
"So you admit it? You paid my little brother to ask Meg to dance. You got ripped off, man! He would have done it for nothing!" Nick laughed. He looks over at Megan and Aaron dancing.
"Hey, Aaron why did you ask me to dance?"
"I ask all the pretty girls to dance."
"You little flirt! You are a really good dancer though. So whatcha been doin' while I was gone?"
"Listening to Nick sing, going to school and listening to Nick..." his voice trailed off.
"Listen to Nick what?"
"Nothing" She stopped dancing and bent down to look into his eyes.
"Aaron, listen to Nick what? You can't lie to me, you're not good at it."
"Listen to Nick talk about how much he misses you, and wishes that you lived down here all the time. He was really excited when he found out that you would be staying with us. I mean we all were but he was REALLY excited."
'Oh really', she thought 'I'm gonna have to talk to the boy about this but some other time'
The rest of the night was pretty much uneventful. Except when Brian kissed Kaytee goodnight.
