Backstreet Boys Announce Tour Plans For Early 2000

The 750,000+ tickets for the 1999 tour sold out in one day.

Backstreet Boys, who wrap up the 1999 leg of their ''Millennium'' tour this weekend,'' have unveiled their concert plans for early 2000 via their official website. The group's initial itinerary has 19 shows in 15 cities between Feb. 11 and March 10.

Only one on-sale date for tickets has surfaced: Dec. 11 for a March 3 show at Reunion Arena in Dallas.

Backstreet Boys' 1999 outing has been one of the year's hottest tickets. All seats for the tour were put on the market on Aug. 14, and the 750,000-plus tickets to all 53 shows were snapped up that day, for an estimated gross of about $30 million.

While at the show, according to Amusement Business, the average Backstreet Boys' concert-goer is spending between $13 and $16 on T-shirts and other novelties.

Backstreet Boys' management is currently embroiled in a dispute with House of Blues Concerts over a large number of tickets to a Denver show that fell into the hands of brokers, and it should be noted that none of the venues on the band's itinerary are owned by HOB, nor does it appear that HOB normally promotes shows at any of the venues. It could not be confirmed at press time that promoter HOB Concerts was completely cut out of Backstreet Boys' plans for 2000, though in a recent statement, Backstreet Boys proclaimed their support for ''publicly-held companies and reputable organizations such as SFX (a national concert-promotions conglomerate that competes with HOB) and Tickets.com.''

The group has announced plans to use to use Tickets.com's services to auction an expected 1,000 tickets for the upcoming tour, with profits earmarked for as-yet-unnamed charity groups.
