Chapter 8
"Hey Sunshine!" Sara yelled as she came into my room and jumped on
the bed.
"Sara!" I said still half asleep. I rubbed my eyes and
then gave her a huge
hug. It was so good to see her again!
"What
time is it?" I asked her.
"It's 4:00 am. I caught the really early
flight out here so I could visit
with you before you went to school."
"Well, let me shower and then I'll talk to you," I said as I smiled and
grabbed my housecoat and headed for the bathroom. I took a short, warm
shower
and washed my hair. It was defiantly refreshing.
"Ok, I'm done,"
I said as I headed out of the bathroom and back into my
room where Sara was trying
on most of my clothes.
The two of us talked and caught up on all of
the
gossip we'd missed until I had to leave to go to
school. Sara decided to walk
me to the bus stop where we met up with Nick.
It was pretty funny to see
Nick's eyes bug out when he saw Sara. He'd always
had a crush on her and it was
obvious he still did.
"Hey Nicky!" Sara said as she ran over and
gave him a big hug. Nick's grin
grew even wider.
"Hi Sara! What
are you doing here?" he asked.
"Visiting for a couple days,"
she replied.
"Cool! Well do you and Lezlee want to come over tonight.
You could see the
rest of the guys!" he offered.
"Sure!"
Sara said just as the bus pulled up.
"Well see you tonight!"
"By Nicky, By E!" Sara said as she waved to us.

School felt like it went on forever. I couldn't wait to get home and see
Sara and AJ at Nick's that night.
When the final bell rang I ran to my
locker, grabbed my stuff and drove
home with Jessie.
"Here ya go!"
Jess said as we pulled up in front of my house.
"Thanks, I'll call you
tonight, kay?" I said as I opened the door of her
jeep and got out.
"Well call me before we all head over to Nick's."
"Alright!
See ya," I waved as she drove off. I walked up the brick
sidewalk and into
the house where I could hear Sara making something with
the blender.
"Hey!" she said looking up from the blender, "Want some? It's a
strawberry-banana
smoothie." She offered me a glass.
"Mmmmm!" I said taking
a sip.
Sara always was a health food fanatic. We
gathered up our drinks
and then grabbed some cookies for me, and a bran
muffin for Sara.
"Yuck,
how can you even eat that stuff?" I asked her as she bit into her
muffin.
"It's healthy!" Sara replied as she shut the door to my room and locked
it.
"You won't ever catch me with one of those!" I said.
"Try it."
"No!"
"Come on," she said
as she inched towards me with the muffin.
I opened my
mouth and took
a tiny bite. Surprisingly it was good, but I couldn't tell
her that after I had
complained about them two seconds ago.
"So, anything new on the guy
front?" she asked cramming another bite of
muffin in her mouth.
"Well, no one other than AJ," I said as I sipped my smoothie.
"You
still like him? Man! You've been in love with him forever."
"I
know, but Sara, I just don't know how to tell him."
"Why don't
you write him a letter. That way you won't have to tell him face
to face and
if for some dumb reason he doesn't like you, after I beat him
up, he can write
you back!"
"Well..."
"Come on!"
"I don't know...."
"Don't be so chicken! Do it or I'll write
one for you and believe me, you
don't want that!" After Sara's threat I
grabbed a pen off my desk. She was a
horrible writer, so I figured I better
start
writing.
We sat there for one hour scrawling the letter down onto my
stationary
with the little rose in the left corner. When I was done, I
signed my name and
sprayed a bit of Tommy Girl on the envelope.
"There, don't you feel
better?" asked Sara. Surprisingly I did. I smiled
and put the letter in
my book bag.
"Well I guess I'll give it to him on Monday..." I
said nervously.

"We're going to be late!
Hurry it up!" Sara yelled from the bottom of the
stairs.
Of course
she looked great in her tank top, cardigan and long skirt
with the slits up the
side, and all the blue she had on defiantly brought
out her crystal blue eyes.
I on the other hand looked like a disaster. I had
spent the last hour
trying on the perfect outfit and still no luck.
"I'm not going,"
I wailed from behind my door.
"What?" Sara said as she came running
up the stairs and threw open the door
to my room. She went over to my closet
and took out my cream Capri pants and
a pink cardigan with a matching tank top.
I quickly got dressed as she slid
two little clips into my hair.
"There,
that wasn't hard was it?"
"Shut up!" I said as I ran down
the stairs and out the front door where we
headed to Nick's house.
"Hey
guys!" Nick said as he opened the door.
"Hi Nick," I said
as I pushed past him and saw Aaron running towards me.
"Hi Nicky,"
Sara said as she gave him a hug.
"H..hi" Nick stammered as his
face turned a light pink. You could tell he
still wanted Sara no matter what
he said.
"Where's everyone?" I asked interrupting Nick's daze.
"Uh...outback," he said as we all walked through the kitchen and out the
patio door.
"Hey guys!" I called as I saw Brian and Howie throwing
a football, Kevin
lounging by the pool with Samantha and AJ was sitting alone
eating a hotdog.
"AJ!" I said as I ran over and gave him a hug.
It was so good to see him
home without any machines attached to him.
"Hey Sara!" Brian called as he saw her walk down to where the guys were
playing. Brian ran at her and knocked her to the ground.
"How's
it been?" he asked her as Howie pulled him off of her.
"Great until
you charged me," Sara said jokingly.
"So how long are you in for?"
Howie asked as he helped her to her feet.
"Till Sunday night."
"Cool!" Brian said before he ran off to get a hot dog. Sara came over to
where Nick was and asked him if he wanted to jump on the trampoline with
her.
"Sure!"
"Well for old time's sake," she said with a flirty
smile on her face. I
knew Sara liked Nick and I knew he liked her, it was just
a matter of when
the two of them would hook up. But I didn't see it happening
since Sara had
to go back to New York on Sunday. The two ran off and started
jumping on the
trampoline together, playing crack the egg and blind mans bluff.
Soon Kevin
and Samantha had joined them.
Howie and I sat on the side
and talked with AJ.
"So when are you guys going to be back singing?"
I asked.
"As soon as possible, we're working on some new songs. One's
called ‘I'll
Never Find Someone Like You' and ‘Tell Me That I'm Dreaming', so
we have to
figure out harmonies," Howie told me.
"Awesome!"
I said. We continued to talk for a while longer and then Aaron
came outside and
wanted to play soccer with all of us and Brian. We agreed
and soon we were kicking
the ball back and forth.
"I've gotta get some water, Be right back,"
Brian said as he left as Kevin
and Samantha came over to swing in the hammock
in the corner by us. We kept
playing until Brian came out of the house holding
Sara's sweater and her
runners.
"Uh guys," he called from the
front porch, "I'm thinking that Sara didn't
loose these."
I
laughed and AJ chimed in.
"Oh la la! Nicky Poo is alone with an older
woman!" he said covering his
mouth, pretending to act all shocked. Howie
hit him on the arm.
"I'm sure that Sara's just seeing his room...maybe
she was hot and took off
her sweater..." I said.
"Well I want
to know!" said Brian crossing his arms in front of him.
"I'll go
with you," I offered. The two of us walked into the house as the
rest of
them got back to their soccer game. We walked up the two flights of
stairs to
Nick' room.
"I'm kicking the door in!" Brian whispered to me as
we stood outside the
closed door.
"No don't! Open it," I said.
Brian put his hand on the door knob and
carefully opened the door.
Both
of looked on, our eyes the size of saucers. There was Sara sitting on
top of
Nick with no shirt on. She was in her bra and Nick had no shirt on.
The two were
engaged in some heavy duty making out.
"Oh my god!" I yelled.
"Censor!" shrieked Brian. Nick and Sara heard. Nick jumped up and
accidentally
threw Sara on the floor.
"Brian! Lezlee! What are you doing here?"
she gasped as she looked for her
shirt.
"I guess we could ask you
the same question!" I said sarcastically.
"Buddy! What were you
thinking?" asked Brian with a big grin on his face.
"Uh....I..uh..."
Nick stammered. Brian walked over and placed his hands on
Sara's shoulders.
"Now were you, or were you not making out with this lovely lady?" Bri asked
with that cheesy cowboy accent of his.
"Yeah," Nick said looking
pretty embarrassed.
"Well don't let us stop you!" Brian said as
he let out a laugh and threw
Sara back onto the bed and into Nick's lap.
"You're encouraging them?" I said looking at him in disbelief. Brian just
grinned.
"You're a strange person Mr. Brian Thomas Littrell!"
I said smiling. We
left the two love birds and went downstairs.
"So,
what's the 411?" AJ asked us as we went into the backyard.
"Nick
is currently making out with Sara," Brian said talking like a sports
broadcaster.
The guys just laughed at the thought of Nick making out with my
older sister.
We hung around for the rest of the time until Nick and Sara
came out of the house
about three minutes later.
"You cut it short?" Howie asked trying
not to laugh.
"Funny....B-rok over here and E had to put their sleuthing
skills to the
test and barge in on us!" Nick said sticking out his bottom
lip. Jess
laughed at him.
"So Sara, how does it feel to be a craddle
robber?" Jess asked Sara.
"Shut up...ok ha ha ha, you've all had
your laughs, now lets drop it," Sara
said with a little smile on her face.
We dropped it until Brian brought it
up again.
"Would one of you
two Bedroom Bandits go get me a hotdog?" he asked between
laughter.
Nick
threw a hot dog bun at him and then came running at him, and
sent Bri into the
pool. Eventually Nick and Brian were in the pool with
soggy hot dog buns floating
around them and the rest of laughing
hysterically in the pool deck.
I
sat in the beach chair and looked over at AJ who had a huge grin on his
face.
I wondered to myself why couldn't I have had what Nick and Sara had
with AJ.
It just didn't seem fair.
