Chapter 4
The days followed slowly, everyday when the coast was clear
Howie would come
over and sleep with me in my bed, making me
feel secure and safe. He didn't
mind at all, he said as long as he
was near me he didn't care. I knew then that
week I was
with him that he was my dream man, the man I loved.
"I
bought some whip cream for our ice cream!" I yelled to Howie
who was in
the other room. I had the day off so we decided to spend it together.
"Oh
let me have some!" He said running to the bags. He pulled
out the can
and squirted some in his mouth. He squirted some on
me as I yelled.
"HEY!"
I said as we laughed. I chased him as he squirted me, he
stopped as I grinned.
"How about a hug?" I asked jumping on him, the whip
cream going across
him as well, I laughed as he looked down at his shirt whining.
"My shirt!"
"Oh
it will come out!" I said still laughing.
"Oh think it's funny?"
he asked putting whip cream on my nose.
He kissed it as I grinned. He kissed
me lifting me up with ease as I wrapped
my arms around his neck and my legs around
his waist. He put me on the
counter as he licked the whip cream off my neck.
"We
wasted all the whip cream!" I whined as he looked at the can, shaking it as
he shrugged.
"Ice cream plain is great!" He said taking the ice
cream and two
spoons, handing them to me and picking me up.
"Where
are we going?" I asked in laughter.
"Watch the movies I rented!"
Howie said putting me down on the bed
as I opened the ice cream top, digging
into my chocolate chip cookie dough
ice cream. I wiped my face of whip cream
as I watched Howie lay aside me.
"To the movies," I said holding
up my spoon.
"Here here!" He said as I giggled. We clicked spoons
as I smiled, both
of us digging into the ice cream like we had never ate before.

"V?"
Howie asked opening the door to my house. Howie went to go
get something…I
had no idea what, so I decided to take a shower.
"I'm in the shower!"
I yelled. I brushed the water through my hair as I
saw Howie through the glass.
He opened the door as I giggled. "What are you…"
"Shh,"
Howie said getting in. He pecked me lightly as he looked at
me, I kissed him
passionately as the water came over our bodies.
"Why everytime I don't
want to do anything with you I end
up doing it?" I asked as he kissed my
neck.
"Because you want it in your heart, just as much as I do,"
he said looking in my eyes.
"I hope we can get through all this,"
I sighed.
"I know we will," he said kissing me softly.
~*~*~*~
That
night Jane, Nick's mother, had planned a dinner party that Howie had to attend.
"I
don't want to go!" I whined.
"Please? I want to show off the girl
I always tell them about," he said wrapping his arms around my waist.
"I've
only known you for 2 days!" I giggled.
"I know, but believe me
I've talked about you since I met you," he said kissing my neck as I sighed.
"Okay,"
I said as he smiled brightly.
"Thank you!" He said kissing me.
"It's at 7, meet me there?"
"Okay," I said with a grin.
"Gotta
go and get ready, can't wait to see you," he said kissing me softly. "Bye!"
I
looked through my stuff, I had all kinds of dinner dresses, but was
too fancy.
I pulled out the perfect one and put it on. I looked at the mirror and grinned.
"Perfect,"
I said brushing my hair as I looked down. It was a black dress
that came down
to my ankles with a slit up to the middle of my right
thigh. It had small spaghetti-straps
that were made of small black roses.
"Here goes nothing," I said
hopping into my car. I drove to Nick's house,
hoping no paparazzi were there…unfortunately
I forgot about the
whole Backstreet Boy thing.
"Ms. Keelson are you
here for Mr. Dorough's behalf?" One asked as I
walked inside the house
as the gates closed, leaving the press behind the gate.
"Hi! Veronica
right?" Nick asked as I nodded.
"Nick Carter, nice to meet you
again without you being drunk," I said as he smiled.
"Nice to meet
you and remember who you are," he said as I grinned.
Howie walked over
to me as my mouth almost dropped at the look of him.
"You look so beautiful,"
he whispered in my ear as I grinned.
"You're not so bad yourself,"
I said as he smiled.
"Howie I have a table for us, want to go to it?"
Nick asked.
"Sure," Howie said as I followed. I would still not
let him do
anything with me in public, it might go in the wrong hands.
"Here
it is! Hey guys, do you remember Veronica?" Nick asked as I sat down next
to Brian and Kevin.
"Yeah, you're Howie's attorney aren't you?"
Brian asked as I nodded.
"Mmm hmm," I said shaking everyone's hands.
"So…why
are you here?" Kevin asked.
"Maybe I invited her," A.J. said
as I knew Howie told him about me.
"I actually remember you, you handled
my friend's case back about
2 years ago," Brian said as I looked puzzled.
"Who?"
I asked curiously.
"John Patterson, he said he had the largest crush
on you during the trial."
"Yeah now I remember! He tried to ask
me out dozens of times,
he was always grabbing my ass," I said in laughter.
I danced the
night away with so many people, I forgot almost everyone's names
there.
"I'm so bored," I said aloud watching everyone dance and
laugh.
I felt a hand grace across my shoulder as I saw Howie standing.
"Dance
with me," he said taking my hand. He led me to the floor,
wrapping his
hands around my waist as I put my hands around his
neck. I put my head on his
chest as I heard his heart beating, I looked up
at him and sighed. "Did
I ever tell you how much I love your touch?"
He whispered in my ear. He
kissed my neck gently making sure no
one saw, as I closed my eyes and prayed
for the day I could kiss him back.
~*~*~*~
I got home and sat down
on my bed, waiting for Howie to
come and sleep with me, letting me hold him in
my arms as we waited
for the next day to come. This next day would soon be a
wonder
since the trial is tomorrow. I hoped that I could help him, I loved
him
so much I couldn't bear not to be with him for a day, nevertheless life.
"Hi,"
he said as I sat up. I saw him standing in the doorway as I grinned.
"Hey,"
I said in tears. He walked to me and held me tight, as I burst into tears.
"What's
wrong?" He asked brushing my hair as I cried. "Shh…"
After
streams of tears, I sighed and laid down on my bed in the dark as I felt Howie's
arms wrap around me.
"I don't want to lose you," I whispered in
more tears.
"You won't."
"Liar," I said turning
to him. "If we don't win I'll lose you."
"You'll never lose
my heart, I hope you someday understand that," he
said kissing me softly.
I kissed him passionately as he got on top of
me, brushing his hand down my
body as I knew in my mind, this might
be the last time I ever truly make love
to him.
