Chapter 8
I awoke with a migraine and heartache, I remembered what
happened last night
and I had to call and explain somehow.
"Hello?" I heard her voice,
shaky and sounding awful.
"Jessie," I said as she sniffed.
"How's
your girlfriend? God I was just kidding when
I said it but now…"
"Sidney
is not my girlfriend."
"Oh I'm surprised you even know her name."
"Jessie
please…"
"I have nothing to say to you, I hate you!" She hung
up as
I put the phone back on the hook. I couldn't believe
what happened,
I couldn't lose her over this.
"A.J. are you okay?" Nick asked
as I sat down on the hood of my corvette.
"I can't believe I'm about
to talk to you about this," I
said with a sigh. He walked over to me and
sat down
on the hood aside me while the guys played basketball.
"What's
up?" Nick asked.
"Jessie hates me, I fucked up everything,"
I said as my eyes
watered.
"A.J. are you about to cry?" Nick
asked as I shook my head.
"I got drunk last night and went home with
some girl named
Sydney and Jessie called me while I was at her house.
She
won't talk to me, she hates me," I said wiping
my watered eyes.
"Did
you do anything?" Nick asked me.
"I kissed her that's it,"
I said taking off my necklace and
playing with it.
"I actually heard
this from Belle last night, Belle went to Jessie's
apartment this morning on
a flight. Belle told me Jessie's hysterical,
she couldn't understand anything
she said," Nick explained.
"I fucked things up," I said shaking
my head sadly. I took my
phone out of my pocket and dialed Jessie's number again.
"Hello?"
Jessie asked as I wiped my eyes.
"Jessie," I said as she started
crying again.
"Don't call me A.J., it's over, I never want to see you
again," she
said hanging up the phone. I couldn't take it then, I threw
my
phone against the driveway as the guys watched me
break down into tears.
"A.J.
it's okay," Nick said as I shook my head.
"She was…she is my everything,
and I ruined it,
I screwed up so bad!" I said as I wiped my tears.
"Go
see her then," Kevin said as I looked up at him.
"What?"
"Go
see her, make her realize how much you need her," Kevin
said as I got up
and wiped my eyes. I hugged Kevin
and got into my car.
"I'll call
you when I get there," I yelled out to them.
They were still amazed at
me, I was actually too.
"Mom I'm going out of town for a day or two,"
I yelled to my
mom from my room. I opened my suitcase and started
packing
clothes.
"Where are you going?" She asked walking into my room.
"I
have to see Jessie."
"A.J. you just left her!" She said with
a laugh.
"I know mom, I just have to. I'll call you later," I said
picking
up the framed picture of me and Jessie at our wedding.
I put it
in my bag and kissed my mom's cheek. "Love you,"
I said shutting the
front door and putting my
things in the back of my car.
I was never more
nervous in my life as I was when I got
up to Jessie's apartment complex. I didn't
know if she'd
even look at me, I had to do something though. I walked
up
to her door and knocked on it softly, hoping…more like praying
she would let
me talk to her.
"A.J.?" Belle asked looking at me. "What
are you doing here?"
"I have to see her," I exclaimed taking
off my sunglasses.
"Wow you have been crying…geez," she said shaking
her head. "Jessie isn't here right now but she'll be back soon if
you
want to come in."
"Thanks Belle," I said sitting down on the
couch.
"Tell me your side of this," Belle said sitting next to me.
"I
was drunk, Sydney promised to take me home, and she
took me to her house. I
kissed her, and Jessie called me,
that's all that happened," I said as tears
came to
my eyes again.
"Hmm…" Belle thought to herself. "I
would forgive you if
it was me," she said with a shrug. "I always
act stupid when
I'm drunk, you saw me before remember?" She said with
a
laugh.
"Oh God," Jessie said as I jumped up to her.
"What
the hell are you doing here? Why did you let him in?"
"I'm going
to go talk to Jason," Belle said pointing to his apartment.
She shut the
door as Jessie looked at me with
so many emotions in her eyes.
"I'm
so sorry, I love you so much I…" as I started to explain I
felt a hard punch
land me to the floor.
"You asshole! You never loved me; you just wanted
to fuck
me right? Just wanted a piece of ass and I was stupid
enough to
fall for you? I loved you!" She screamed as I looked at
her, my nose bleeding
in pain. She took off her necklace and
threw it at me.
She walked into
her bedroom as I got up off the floor.
She came back with a box.
"Here's
all of our pictures," she said throwing
them to me, "the cell phone,
the letters you wrote me
while you were away, the roses you bought for me, the
corsage from my prom, and this," she said taking the
engagement ring
off her finger. "You can go pawn it for all
I care, it has no value to
me anymore."
"Jessie why can't I explain anything to you?"
I exclaimed
as I walked over to her.
"Because you cheated on me,
and you lied to me, and you
played me, and…" she burst into tears as I took
her
in my arms.
"I can't live without you Jessie," I whispered
as I held
her. "You're my world, you're my everything.
I can't lose
you."
"I can't trust you A.J.," she said as tears fell
down
my face.
"Do you seriously want to know what I was
thinking while
I was with that girl?" I asked.
"Hmm?" she cried.
"You,
when I kissed her I felt it was you, I wanted it to be
you…I was also drunk so
I mean for all I know I pictured
you too," I said with a grin. I held onto
her, not wanting
to let go without knowing she'd be in my arms again.
"Move
in with me, live with me," I said holding
her tight.
"I can't…"
"You
won't, but I need you, and you need me,
I know you do."
"But
my work…"
"What's wrong with FSU? Tiffany's there, I'm there,
the
guys and Belle are there," I said with a sigh.
"I need time to
think," she said letting me go.
She looked at my face and cried. "God
I'm sorry."
"I deserved it," I said as she brushed her hand
across my bruised face.
"Want me to clean it?" She asked as
I
shrugged.
"I haven't been paying attention to it, my full
attention
was on my heart," I said as she brushed her eyes.
"God you say the
nicest things," she said with a small grin.
"Oh, see this," she
said pulling a magazine out of a
drawer. "Look at us."
"McLean
and Olsen have been dating for almost a year, and
although they are 3 years apart,
they are fully
capable of love," I said with a grin.
"What still
amazes me is that they think being 3 years apart
is like you being 80 and 16
or something," she said then
jumping up. "I have something important
to tell you."
"What?" I asked a little worried.
"Well
after the interviews and stuff with me and you a
modeling agency asked me to
model for them!" She said
excitedly. I grinned and held her in my arms,
her
excitement rushing into me.
"Congrats Jess," I whispered
as we looked at each other.
I felt awkward, I didn't know if I could kiss her
or not.
"Thanks…" she trailed off letting me go.
"So when
is your flight?"
"You don't want to talk?" I asked hurt.
"Not
right now A.J., I'm still in a punching mood,"
Jessie said grabbing her
washcloth and some ice.
"I don't care ba…Jessie, I need to talk to you,
that's why
I'm here," I said as she sat down next to me. She ignored what
I
said as she held the washcloth up to my face and
brushing her other hand
down my neck.
"Are you sure it doesn't hurt?" She asked as I grabbed
her
and kissed her passionately. I needed to feel her, I was afraid
it might
be my last time. She pushed me away and got up
with tears in her eyes. "Here,"
she said handing me the
washcloth as I looked at her confused face.
"Jessie?"
Jason asked from the door with Belle aside him.
"Jason," Jessie
said hugging him as I sighed.
"Jessie can we talk please?" I asked
standing up to Jason
and Jessie.
"No A.J., not right now," she
said angrily as Jason held her in
his arms.
"I don't think she wants
to talk to you," Jason said as
I looked at him with rage in my eyes.
"I
don't think you want to get involved in this asshole."
"A.J. stop,"
Jessie said as Jason set Jessie aside
and stared at me in the face.
"You've
had a problem with me ever since I met you,
what's your fucking problem?"
"You
are my problem, you're probably the only thing
keeping Jessie here."
"You
can't handle the competition, you know she wants to fuck
me right?" As
soon as he said that I punched him square
in the jaw, sending us to the floor
as we fought on the ground.
"Stop!" Belle and Jessie yelled trying
to pull us apart.
I punched Jason in the gut as he held onto his stomach in
pain.
I got up, blood from my face as I laughed at the prick.
"Jason
are you okay?" Belle asked him getting down on
her knees as Jessie took
my hand and led me outside.
"Get out A.J.!" She screamed as I looked
at her with confusion.
"I just stuck up for you!" I said as my
eyes became
blurred from a punch to the eye.
"Just go A.J., get out
of here," she yelled throwing me
my bag and slamming the door. I stood
outside the
doorway and realizing what I had just done.
I just made things
worse between Jessie and I, and to top it
off, my face was started to swell.
I walked down the stairs
as I laughed, 'I finally punched that prick,'
I
thought as I called a cab.
