Nick awoke from his cozy, antique bed and stretched, yawning uncontrollably. He grinned as he rose from his bed, looking at the screaming fans at the gate of the home he had been missing for so long. He had finally come home from his too long tour and he was so happy to be back. He missed his room, his family, his house, but most of all, he missed his love...Sera. He never stopped thinking of her, he missed her so much.

He got dressed for the glorious day, today was the day he got to see his beloved.

He smiled happily and knocked on Sera's front door.

"COMING!" Sera yelled as he smiled wider at the sound of her voice. She opened the door and hugged him immediately.

"God I haven't heard from you in months!" She whispered happily.

"I've missed your voice, your touch, your..." when he saw her face he was shocked. "Sera, what happened to your face? What's wrong?" It was pale white and her eyes had black circles around them, her eyes itself bloodshot.

"No sleep, really screws up our reunion doesn't it?" She asked sadly.

"NO! Not at all," he said kissing her pale lips softly and shutting the front door behind him.

"How was the tour?" She asked sitting aside him on the loveseat.

"Same, boring and without you," he said brushing her hair gently. "You know, I'm graduating in a week?" She asked as he smiled.

"You are?  That's great! I'll be in the front row cheering you on the whole way!" Nick said as Sera nodded.

"You'll be the only one," she said as Nick's nose crinkled in confusion.

"Why is that?" He asked.

"My parent's don't care," she shrugged.

"You act like you don't care," Nick said puzzled.

"I'm used to it...how are the guys?" She asked, changing the subject quickly.

"Great....Sera are you okay?" He asked concerned of his love.

"Nick, wouldn't I tell you if something was wrong?" She asked as he nodded and smiled.

"You're right, I'm sorry. You know I only ask because I love you," he said as she nodded, seeming as if she didn't believe him.

They talked for hours, yet Sera seemed very different, so sad and so...distracted.

"I really gotta go, I'll come see you tomorrow, maybe we can go to the beach like old times?" He asked.

"Yeah....maybe," she said.

"Where's your smile?" He asked.

"With my sleep," she sighed.

"Are you going to watch TV tonight? The guys and I are going to be on Leno!" He said happily as she nodded. "I'll call you okay?"

"I'll wait by the phone," she said sarcastically.

"HA HA!" He said kissing her lips lightly. "I love you," he whispered.

"Mmm hmm," she nodded. "I love you too," she mumbled as he nodded.

"I'm glad I'm back," he said shutting the door. Something about the way she was acting, her face, and not smiling scared him. Sera always smiled, why she didn't now worried him.

That night he called her right on schedule.

"Hey Sera! Did you see me on TV?" He asked.

"Of course! You were so cute!" She said happily.

Now she was happy? Nick was so confused!

"Don't say cute you know I hate that!" He pouted as he heard her sweet laugh.

"Okay...you were...adorable?" She said with another laugh.

"Fine, I was adorable!" He said smiling at the sound of her sweet laughter.

"I'm sorry Nick but I kinda can't talk tonight, I have finals and I have to pass! So much pressure!" she said with the voice he had missed.

"Sera, you'll do fine, when haven't you passed a final?" He said as she laughed at herself.

"Good old Nick, always knowing how to remind me how my...life is," she said.

"How is your life?" He asked puzzled as to why she would say that.

"Look, I gotta go, love you!" She said hanging up quickly.

Something was wrong, he had to find out....

~*~*~*~*~
The next day, Nick came over with beach necessities in the car, ready for a day at a place he loved with the woman he loved. Nick knocked on the door at least ten times before walking in. He knew she was there, her car and car keys were there and she didn't leave a usual note. He walked upstairs to her room and knocked on the door.

"Sera?" He asked as he heard crying.

"Nick?  Please don't come in, I'm...really...busy!" she yelled as he panicked. He had to come in, and when he did he wished he hadn't. Sera was lying on the floor, staring at the fan on her cieling, tears streamed down her face and fell onto the floor alongside the pool of blood..

"Sera!" He yelled crying and running to her. He held her as she finally gave him the smile he bid her give.

"Nick, please let me be," she begged.

"Why did you do this!?!" He asked as tears streamed down his face.

"I'm ending my pain, I don't want to cry, don't want to be unhappy anymore," she said smiling wider.

"What is there to be unhappy about Sera? Once you graduate you would become a writer just like you've always dreamed! We could get married and be so happy!"

"My friends are gone, my parents I hate, my future I fear, and you," she brushed his cheek and coughed violently, "were never there. The only thing keeping me alive was to see your beautiful face one last time, and now I have.  I love..." she coughed harder as her eyes stopped moving about. Her arm fell to the ground and he shook his head with anger and disbelief.

"Why are you not breathing!?! I love you Sera you can't leave me like this!" He screamed as he watched her. He knew when he looked into her beautiful hazel eyes, she was taken from him forever.

All of this, because of problems she never tried to fix.
