Chapter 19
ASHLEY AND BJ…
"Ashley can I talk to you?" Nick asked me as
I awoke.
"Yeah sure Nick, what's up?" I asked as he took my hands.
"I
love you, I love you so much. I hope one day
we can get married. I love you so
much Ashley."
"Oh I love you too!" I said as we kissed…
"Ash?"
BJ asked me waking me up.
"Huh?"
"Were you dreaming
of my brother?"
"Why?"
"Cause I heard Nick and
I love you."
"Yeah I was. Sorry I fell asleep BJ. If we get
some
coke I'll be awake," I said rubbing my eyes.
"Kay, I'll be right
back. Diet or regular?" She got up
going to the kitchen.
"Doesn't
matter." She walked away as I hoped Nick would
come home soon. I needed
to talk to him about tons of
things, I just hoped he would listen and agree.
This was the last
time I could ever talk to Nick again, or until he comes back
to
town which won't be for a real long time. God! I have so much stuff
running
through my head I can't have fun with BJ!
"Here. I got diet, Nick will
kill us if we take the last
cokes." She handed it to me as I gulped it down.
"Thanks
BJ," I said as I set it down on the coffee table.
"Tell me what
you want to tell my brother. He's stubborn,
if you tell him something he doesn't
want to hear he'll
pretend to ignore you. If he does that I'll beat him up for
you though."
I laughed, "Thanks. Well I don't really know yet.
Can
you tell me what Stacey was like?"
"Well, blonde, plastic basically,
total rhyming word of witch.
She had this huge attitude against everyone and
supposedly
loved Nick but I never saw it. They broke up when Nick
finally
got a clue."
"Oh. Did he ever love her?"
"Yeah.
For a short period. He was upset for a few days
over it too. I mean they went
out for 2 years so…"
"Yeah. He told me he was in love once, I was
just checking, I knew it wasn't me."
"Aw Ash! I bet he does.
If he doesn't he's dumb and doesn't
deserve you. I know he's my brother and everything,
but sometimes he can be stupid."
"Yeah I guess you're right.
I wonder how Leslie is
doing."
"Leslie?"
"Oh!
My roommate?"
"Oh yeah! Brian and Nick were talking about her last
night."
"What about?"
"How much Brian cares about
her and doesn't know
what to do. Nick was trying to help, but it really wasn't
working."
"Really? I should tell Leslie this." I picked up
the phone and
dialed our apartment number. I knew she would be up,
even if
it was 3 in the morning.
"What?" Leslie said whining.
"Leslie?
Oh God were you asleep?"
"Yeah actually, scary huh?"
"Leslie
why are you whispering?"
"Brian's next to me."
"Oh
my God! Really?"
"Yes Ash why would I lie?"
"Did
you?"
"Yes Ash, I did. Now what do you want?"
"Les
you animal!" I said laughing.
"Shut up Ash! Just tell me what you
want!"
"Actually I was going to tell you something about Brian,
but I guess not."
"Ash, let me go to the kitchen and switch
phones, hold on."
I sat there and laughed.
"She had sex with
Brian." Leslie's eyes popped out.
"Brian had sex with her? Oh my
God! Wow!"
She said wanting to know more.
"Ash?" Leslie
called from the other phone.
"Les! Tell me what's up with this girl!
How did
it happen?"
"I don't know Ash! I just saw him standing
in the doorway,
no words exchanged, and that was it, that's how it
happened!"
"You
mean he didn't say a word?"
"No! I tried, but he kissed me, I didn't
mind of course," she said
as we laughed. BJ still eager to find out what
we
were saying.
"So are you guys together now?"
"I
don't know, he's asleep, I'm not going to wake him up now!
Wait, I hear something."
A few seconds later, she sighed and
picked up the phone. "He left."
"He
just left? He didn't say anything or leave a note or
something?"
"Nope.
Can I talk to you later Ash? I want to try to get him."
"Yeah."
I hung up and sighed. "He left her."
"Brian wouldn't do something
like that!"
"Apparently he did."
