Chapter 7

Jessie woke up to the loud crying of Jason, causing her
to run to Jason's room and try to calm him down.

"Hey Jay," she said picking him up and turning on his
bedroom light. She sat down in her rocking chair and rocked
him slowly until he calmed down. "Nightmare or what?" She asked him
kissing his head softly.

Jason just smiled, he was always happy when
she was thinking about Nick, even in her head.

"Nick got you down too?" She asked getting up and carrying
him to her bedroom. She set him down on the bed as she got ready for a day of shopping with Jason.

She put on a blue gap spaghetti-strap shirt and a pair of khaki
shorts. She brushed her hair and put it up in a ponytail.

"Whatcha think my man?" She said as Jason giggled.

She laughed and picked him up, changing him, and taking him down the stairs.

"Maybe we'll see Nick today, excited?" She asked him as
she walked out of the bookstore. Jason laughed and grabbed Jessie's shirt.

"Yeah me too Jay, me too," she said carrying him down the street.

"Do we have any break time at all today?" Brian asked as
Nick ran to the rental van through the screaming fans.

"Probably not why?" Kevin asked.

"Cause Nick is driving me CRAZY wanting to see Jessie
so bad!" Brian said as Nick got into the van and
shut the door.

"You and Jessie are…" Howie asked.

"Not officially yet, but I know it will happen, even Jason
likes me…I think," Nick said as the van ran a deep
left turn.

"Jason?" A.J. asked as everyone curiously waited for
Nick's answer.

"Her…it's her son," Nick said as the guys looked
at him disappointed.

"You're in so-called love with a single mother who is only
18?" Kevin asked as Nick nodded in kind
of shame.

"How old is Jason?" Brian asked.

"10 months," Nick said as the guys sighed.

"Where's the dad?" A.J. asked.

"Look you guys, this is Jessie's problem not mine, it shouldn't
matter if she had a kid or not," Nick said as he was waiting
for Kevin's dad speech he always gave.

"You love her?" Brian asked.

"I think I do," Nick said twiddling his thumbs.

"You can't, not in the span of one day Nick…
I mean come on!" Kevin said as the guys nodded.

"Oh and you should be the one to talk? All of you have
girlfriends, ones you love, why can't you be happy for me?"

"Because she's 18, a single parent who lives in New
York, she lives across the country from you!" A.J. said
as the guys agreed with 'yeps' and 'yea's.'

"Screw all of you, I'm happy for once in 4 months and you
give me a hard time about it? Whatever," Nick said looking
out the window in anger. 'They don't understand.'

"Can we go in here Jay? Well I am anyway so come
on!" Jessie said walking into the Virgin Megastore. Girls were
all over the place and in a long line with cd's waiting to
be signed.

"Excuse me who's here today?" Some girl asked next to Jessie.

"Backstreet Boys!" The girl said jumping up and down.

Jessie laughed and decided to wait for Nick to come,
she couldn't wait to see him in action.

"Come on grumpy," Howie said pulling Nick out of the van
and into the Megastore. The girls started screaming and yelling for
Nick as he came into the store and sat down in the chair in
an angry manner.

"Hi Nick!" The first girl said as she handed him her cd and poster.

"Hi how are you?" He said putting on a fake smile.

Even though he hated his band mates at the time,
he was always there for his fans.

"Great! I love your voice, you're my favorite!" She said
as Nick handed her her things.

"Thank you very much I feel so loved!" He said as
she giggled and walked away.

"Nick! Hey Nick!" Nick heard his name as
he stood up and saw Jessie in the back.

"I'll be right back," Nick said to Brian as he took one
of the bodyguards and walked over to her.

"Hey!" Nick said smiling as he looked at Jason.

"Jason look at all these people here to see Nick!" Jessie said as
Jason's eyes grew big. They both laughed as girls
looked at them and pointed.

"Do you want to come join me?" He asked as they walked
over to the signing table with the bodyguard.

"I'll sit for a second sure," she said sitting next to Nick.

A girl around 3 years old came up to Nick with her mother.

"Hi what's your name?" Nick asked the little girl.
She just sucked her thumb nervously.

"Hi, this is Rachael, Rachael give him your picture," her mother
said as Jessie smiled. Rachael handed Nick her poster and
immediately put her thumb back in her mouth.

Jason started wiggling around wanting Nick to hold him.

"Nick," she said as he crawled from Jessie's
lap to Nick's lap, holding onto him tight.

"Hey my man, come sign with me," Nick said as the guys
looked at him angrily. Jason sat as Nick signed, Jessie stayed
there for at least an hour as Jason and Nick played together in
between autographs. The guys finally got a break and went
into the back room to eat.

"Guys, I'd like you to meet some people," Nick said as he shut the door.

"Jessie, this is Howie, Kevin, Brian, and A.J.," Nick said as she
shook their hands.

"We've met," A.J. said harshly.

"I'm sorry about that really," she said trying to apologize.

"And this is her son Jason," Nick said as Jessie waved
Jason's hand. The guys had a long pause, they were just
staring at her and Jason; Jessie could take a hint
they wanted her to go away.

"Um…I really…Jason and I have to
go," she said picking up her shopping bags.

"No you don't have to…" Nick said.

"No actually we're shopping, I've get his p-r-e-s-e-n-t-s for
his birthday," she said interrupting Nick. "Nice to meet
you guys," she said opening the door and walking off.

"Jessie, wait a second," Nick said taking her in another room with Jason.

"What? I'm really busy," she said sadly.

"I'm sorry about the guys, they're…they just can't except that
you have…"

"I have a child? I'm sorry I do," she said interrupting him again.

"I'm fine with it really! They don't understand though," he said
as she nodded. Jason whined for Nick again,
Jessie held onto him as he cried.

"No Jason!" She said trying to calm him down. She put him
down on the floor as she talked to Nick. "I don't think this
will work Nick," she said shaking her head as
Jason cried on Nick's leg.

"What? Why? You haven't even tried!" He said get
agitated over Jason and picked him up to calm him down.

"Because your friends don't like me and besides, you live on
the other side of the country!" She said as Nick
sighed, holding Jason as he giggled.

"Can't we give it a try before you say no? I like you…so
much," he said putting his free hand on her cheek.

"So much?" She said grinning.

"So…so much," he said smiling. Jason honked
Nick's nose as both of them laughed.

"We really do have to go," she said taking Jason
from Nick. He helped her pick up her bags.

"When is Jason's birthday?" Nick asked as she got ahold of everything.

"Next Friday," she said as Jason bounced up and down.
"I'll see you later," she said kissing him lightly. She opened the
door and peered her head in, "I like you too," she said as Nick
smiled. She opened the door to the store and walked out
into the shadows of the buildings.

After hours and hours of work for the guys, they finally got
to go to the hotel at 2 in the morning. Nick decided to go visit
Jessie, hoping she was still up. He buzzed at the bottom of the stairs,
hoping she would be up.

"Hello?" Jessie said in the intercom.

"Jessie it's Nick," Nick said as he heard the doors unlocked.
He ran up the stairs and up to her room.

"Hi!" He said lifting her up in his arms. She laughed as
he put her down inside her apartment.

"Hey good lookin', saw you on t.v. today," she whispered.

"You did?" He asked as she covered his mouth. She took
his hand and led him into the bedroom. "I like it in here," he said as
she laughed.

"It's so we wouldn't wake up Jason," she said sitting on the
bed. "But it is nice in here isn't it?" She asked as he
jumped on the bed. "Hey my uncle's underneath here!"
She said laughing.

"Whoops," he said as they laughed. He kissed her lightly,
hoping just to get a small kiss. But as he kissed her lightly as she
let his tongue roam in her mouth, as she pushed her hands up
his shirt. They both loved the taste of each other, and they
wanted each other so bad. He took off her shirt as she took of his
as Nick laid on top of her, kissing her passionately.

"Nick," she said letting go. They both sat up as she looked at him,
both of their breathing abnormal.

"I'm sorry," he said sighing.

"No it's okay, it's just…" she looked into his eyes
and lost every negative thought in her mind about him.

"Just what?" He asked as she shook her head.
She brushed her hand across his cheek and smiled.

"Nevermind," she said kissing him again.

Nick woke up with his arms around Jessie. He smiled at what
had happened, and how beautiful she was. He kissed her forehead
and got up; he got dressed and walked into Jason's room.
Jason was awake and sucking on his thumb.

"Hey Jason," Nick said tickling Jason's stomach.
Jason laughed and held his arms out for Nick to pick him up.
Nick picked him up and sat down on the couch next to Jessie's
bedroom. "You look so much like me," Nick whispered as
Jason wiggled around to get comfortable in Nick's arms.
Jessie put on her bathrobe and stood at her bedroom door.

"I can't even remember when Aaron and Angel were
your age, there my twin brother and sister," Nick said as Jason
played with Nick's pointer finger. "I think I love your mom,"
Nick said as Jason giggled. Nick smiled as his
cell phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Nick its Howie, did you win the bet or lose?"

"Look Jessie is not a bet anymore, forget the stupid
bet," he said shaking his head.

"But…"

"No buts, I would have won anyways, gotta go,"
Nick said hanging up his phone and getting up.

"A bet?" Jessie said as Nick turned to see her, his face
saddened.

"Jessie…" He tried to say.

"I was a bet?" She said walking over to Jason and grabbing
him from Nick. She put him in his crib and shut the
door.

"No you're not a bet," he said trying to explain.

"But I was! You slept with me and played with my son
and it was all for a stupid bet? How much?"
She asked angrily.

"Not important," he said as she shook her head.
She pushed him as she almost went to the verge of tears.

"How much damn money?" She asked as he sighed.

"200 dollars," he said as she nodded.

"You make me feel like a hoar! You get 200 dollars
for fucking me?" She said lowering her voice for Jason.

"No Jessie, it's not…"

"Get out," she said opening the door.

"Why won't you let me explain?" He asked as she shook
her head, tears streaming down her face.

"There's nothing to explain," she said as he walked over to her.

"Jessie…I love you," he said as she shook her head.

"Just get out, please," she said looking down at the ground.

"I'll be back," he said kissing her forehead. She shut the
door and wiped her eyes, knowing it would happen
to her but hoping, that one time, it wouldn't.
