Chapter 6

"We're here!" Brian said happily running to the elevator.
I picked up my bags and walked into the elevator
aside Krystal.

"Having fun yet?" She asked me.

"Too much travel," I sighed.

"I'm dead, why don't we sleep when we get to our room," Krystal said as I nodded.

"Here's our floor," Nick informed us as we got off.

"What's our room number Krys?" I asked dragging my
luggage across the floor, Boomer in the other hand.

"387," Krys said as I looked down.

"My room's right here!" Brian said opening his door and slamming it shut.

"Mine's here!" Howie said.

"There's mine," Kevin said.

"Mine is next to yours," A.J. said to me as I grinned. I never
thought about A.J. as attractive, but now that I was getting over Nick…

"Cool," I said with a small grin.

"Krys mine's across from you okay?" Nick said as she nodded.

"Okay," she said quietly. He kissed her softly as I rolled my eyes and
walked inside.

"Hey Maranda?" A.J. asked.

"Yep?" I asked.

"I'm going to get my hair dyed today, wanna come?"
He asked as I smiled.

"Me?"

"Yeah, I mean I haven't been able to talk to you in forever
and I know you like seeing me mess up my hair,"
he said as I laughed.

"Cool okay, when are you going?" I asked.

"Today, I'll come wake you when I go," he said as I nodded.

"Okay, bye!" I said as I turned. I saw Nick's angered face as
I turned around, I smiled as him and shut the hotel door behind me.

"Are you okay?" I asked Krys as we both got into our beds.

"Yeah, I'm just thinking is all," she said as we looked at each other in the bed.

"Are we still best friends?" I asked.

"Always will Maranda you know that," she said as I grinned.

"I'm glad I came," I said as she smiled.

"Me too."

~*~*~*~

"So what color are you going for this time?" I asked as we strolled into the salon.

"Hmm, I think blonde again," he said as I nodded.

"Maybe I should dye my hair," I said as his mouth hung open.

"You would?"

"Well yeah! Blonde what do you think?" I asked with a laugh.

"You look fine babe, let's do it, it's on me!"

"Alright let's do it!" I said as we both sat in chairs.

~*~*~*~

"Hey guys what do you think?" I asked at dinner that night.

"It's…blonde!" Brian said as I looked at their shocked faces.

"Duh Brian, does it look bad?" I asked.

"Of course not! It looks great!" Kevin said as Howie nodded.

"Really?"

"Yeah! Ya look hot," Brian said in his southern
accent. I laughed and looked at Krystal.

"What do you this Krys?" I asked.

"I'm still in shock that you did it!" She said as I smiled.
"But it's really good, they did a good job!"

"Thanks," I said sitting aside her. "What do you think Nick?"

"It looks nice," he mumbled as he chowed down on his burger.

"Gee how nice Nick," Krystal said as everyone nodded.

"Get anymore sincere?" Brian asked.

"Okay you want me to be real truthful? You look like a Barbie
doll or an airheaded cheerleader, all you need is the pom poms,"
he said as I got hurt in my eyes.

"Nick!" Krystal said as I nodded.

"I just lost my appetite," I said throwing down my napkin and
running to the hotel elevator.

"Maranda wait!" A.J. said running after me. I held the elevator
door open for him as he got in. "Why are you letting
him get to you?"

"It's complicated, you wouldn't understand," I said shaking my head.

"Try me," he said folding his arms.

"I love Nick," I said bluntly as he stood in shock.

"YOU DO!?! I'm so sorry, it must be sad to be…"

"Yeah I know A.J. believe me I know," I said with a sigh. "It's so
hard to not be able to tell him I love him, or hold him, or anything!"

"I'm so…so sorry," he said as I burst into tears. "Oh geez don't
cry! Come on, please for A.J.?"

"I can't believe he said that to me, can we go buy
some hair dye and change it back to black?" I cried.

"Maranda no! You do look good I wouldn't lie!" A.J. said as
we got off the elevator. "Come on, we'll order room service and
talk okay?"

"You would do that for me?" I asked with a sniff.

"You bet! Come on," he said taking me to his room.

~*~*~*~

"I can't believe how much we have in common," I said taking
another bite of my sandwich.

"I know, it's fate I'm tellin' ya," he said as I smiled.

"A.J.!?!" Krystal pounded on the door.

"Come on in Krys," I said as she burst in.

"I've been looking all over for you two! Are you okay Maranda?"
She asked as I shrugged.

"Something's wrong with him, what…I don't really care
anymore," I said as she hugged me.

"He won't talk to anyone, he's like literally locked
himself in his room," she said as I rolled my eyes.

"Figures…Nick is fine, it's what he does when he wants to think,"
I said as Krystal sat down aside us.

"So what are you guys doing having a feast in here huh?"
She asked as A.J. and I nodded.

"We're talking, we're buds now aren't we A.J.?" I asked as
he nodded.

"How could you not resist this adorable face anyways huh?"
He said pinching my cheek as we laughed.

"Think we should talk to Nick?" Krystal asked as I sighed.

"Might as well, I'll be right back," I said jumping up. I walked over
across from A.J.'s room and knocked on the door.

"WHAT?" He yelled.

"Nick are you okay?" I asked annoyed.

"Come in," he said unlocking the door.

"Oh my God Nick, you've been drinking," I said looking
around at beer bottles. The smell of the room was sickening.

"So? I can if I want."

"It's illegal for you to drink stupid," I said still angry at him.
Though Nick was drinking, I had never seen him drink.

"Fuck you…" he said sitting on the bed. "Barbie."

"Look if you're just going to insult me I'm going to go," I said angrily.

"Aww, Nick is so sorry," he said sarcastically. "Can I have
a kiss?" He asked coming towards me.

"Oh Nick please," I said as he rolled his eyes.

"You wanted to Thursday," he said as I opened his
door.

"Don't talk to me," I said slamming the door.
