Chapter 2
"Alexander you have barely touched
your dinner, art thou alright?"
Gabriella asked.
"I am well, I just have a lot on my mind," he said
looking at his food and poking it with his fork.
"Dwaine is hear
sir!" One of their servants yelled.
"Coming!" A.J. said as
Denise and Gabriella
looked at him funny.
"Thou has not been excused,"
Denise said as A.J.
sat down.
"May I be excused mother?" He
asked annoyed
at all the politeness.
"Yes thou may, though shall
back by the hour of 9," she
said as A.J. ran down the castle steps and out
to
the front door with Howie.
"Where are we going?" A.J. asked
as they walked
through the woods.
"Thou is so forgetful today Alexander!
We do this
every night," Howie said as A.J. got aggravated.
"DO
WHAT?"
"Thy looks upon Princess' chamber?" Howie said
as
A.J. grinned. Whatever A.J. did, he
likes to spy on Jessie.
"Sorry
How…Dwaine, it has been a long day," A.J.
said with a grin. They sat down
as close, but as
far away for the king's castle as possible.
"I took
some of thy master's food, care for
some?" Howie asked as A.J. shook his
head.
"You are a servant?" A.J. asked.
"That I am Alexander,
thy must be really
ill," Howie said munching on a muffin.
"I
think I am Dwaine," A.J. said hoping that's what
was causing this weird
stuff to happen.
"Look! Isabel is in thy chamber!" Howie
whispered
pointing to her candelabra.
"That she is," A.J. said entranced.
He wanted to talk
to her, to feel her beautiful hair again, to kiss her…
"Alexander
is thou dreaming of Isabel?" Howie laughed.
"I'm going to get her
Dwaine," A.J. said as
Howie looked at him puzzled.
"Get her?"
He asked finishing the muffin.
"I meant I am going to have her as my
lady," A.J. said hoping that was the right words.
"Oh! Silly
me," Dwaine said.
"You gentleman!" Jessie yelled from
her
'chamber' as they jumped up.
"What are thou doing?"
"Alexander
is looking at thy castle before
us for a painting!" Howie yelled to her.
"Painting?"
Jessie asked as she and A.J. locked eyes.
"Yes your heighness, Alexander
is a genius at
painting!" Howie said as A.J. and Jessie
smiled at each
other.
"Is that so…Alexander?" Jessie asked with a smile.
"Why
yes your heighness," A.J. said lying through
his teeth.
"Well
be quiet, you shall wake up
thy whole castle!" She whispered.
"We
shall your heighness, goodnight," Howie said
as he bowed. A.J. looked and
groaned,
he didn't want to bow down to Jessie!
"Goodnight indeed!"
Jessie said blowing out her
candles and walking away from the window.
"See
that Dwaine? She knows me now," A.J. said
sitting back down on the grassy
hill.
"Alexander, Princess Isabel is a person thou shall never
'get?'
Is that what thy says?" Howie asked as
A.J. nodded with a small laugh.
"Yes
Dwaine, that is how you say it. But you watch, I
will have her, if my life depends
on it," A.J. said
looking up at the black room she was sleeping in.
"Why
thy had gone mad!" Howie said as A.J.
heard something.
"What
was that?" He asked as a figure jumped in
front of them.
"Alexander
there thou are! When thy ran away from
the apple tree I was worried!" Nick
said as A.J.
laughed at what Nick was wearing.
"Nick?" He asked
laughing still.
"Thy Alexander is ill this day Nickolas, shant
worry
about him," Howie said as they looked at A.J.
"Nickolas, do you
think I will have Isabel as
my own?" A.J. asked as Nick sat down next to
them on the hill.
"Thou would have to own a country to get to Isabel
Alexander! Art thou serious?" Nick asked as
A.J. smiled at Nick's stupid
accent.
"Thou is," A.J. said with a small laugh at his accent.
He
could almost have it down since they were talking
with 'thy' and 'thou' so much.
"Where
is Thomas?" Howie asked as A.J. assumed it
would be Brian.
"Thou
is with Gillian," Nick said picking the grass
off the ground.
"Thomas
'got' her," Howie whispered to A.J. as
A.J. nodded.
"Thou must
leave Dwaine! Thy masters are looking
for thee and if they catch thee here they
will have
thee killed for sure!" Nick whispered as Howie
got up quickly.
"Goodnight
Nickolas, Alexander," Howie said as he
ran a few feet, then turned around.
"Alexander,
make sure thy gets some rest," Howie said
sprinting out of the woods.
"Shall
we go?" Nick asked as A.J. nodded.
"Nickolas, are you a servant?"
A.J. asked as they walked
through the woods.
"Alexander, I shall
answer this only because thou is
ill, thou is a servant though soon will not
be," Nick
said sadly.
"Why will you not be?" A.J. asked.
"I
shall steal a horse and ride to the next town," Nick
said as A.J. nodded.
Even back then Nick was
so sure of himself.
"How will you do this?"
A.J. asked as they started
walking on the dirt road.
"Why is thou
so curious? Thou had never cared before
of my plans," Nick said as A.J.
shrugged. "And why is
thou speaking so…different? Thy can barely
understand
what thou is saying!" Nick pouted.
"I think something happened when
I hit my head
today Nickolas, I think I lost some of my memory,"
A.J.
said nodding confidently. Sounded like something
smart, so A.J. stuck with it.
"Is
that why thou is so different? Thou should have told
Dwaine, he is worried about
thee," Nick said as A.J.
kicked a rock.
"I did not think to
tell him, it slipped my mind," A.J. said
as Nick looked at him.
"Slipped
your mind? How does Dwaine slide down
thou mind? Is thy hair wet?" Nick
asked as A.J.
laughed.
"No Nickolas, I meant I forgot to tell him,"
A.J. said
as Nick nodded.
"I shall remember that Alexander…here is
thy
chamber," Nick said pointing to a barn.
"Nickolas?"
A.J. asked.
"Yes?"
"Why am I good friends with you and
Dwaine
when I'm not a servant?" A.J. asked as Nick grinned.
"Well,
thy and thou have known each other for years
Alexander, before thou was a servant
Denise and thy
mother were best of friends," Nick explained as A.J.
nodded.
"I
must go, goodnight Nick…olas," A.J. said as
Nick opened his door.
"Goodnight
Alexander, sleep well," Nick said shutting his
door. Now all A.J. had to
do was remember where
his home was.
When he finally got there, he shut
the front door quietly
and tip toed in. He had no idea if he was late or not,
they didn't carry watches so he had no clue!
"Alexander James where
has thy been!?!" Denise asked
as A.J. cringed at his name.
"I
did not realize the time mother, thou is sorry," A.J.
said running up the
steps. He now had to figure out
which room is his.
"Hello Alexander,"
Gabriella said as A.J. smiled as
his new little sister.
"Gabriella
I sort of lost my memory today when
I hit my head, where is my room?" A.J.
asked
as Gabriella pointed. "Thanks…I mean thank you."
"Alexander?"
She asked as he turned to
her face once more.
"Yes?"
"Thou
has changed," she said sadly.
"I have not! I just talk funny and
forgot a few
things," A.J. shrugged.
"Thou does not seem as
if thy is who thy says thy
is," she said as A.J. tried to figure out what
she said. The 'thy's' were getting to him.
"I am sister, I am,"
he said brushing her cheek lightly
and walking to his room.
He walked in
and smiled wide at how big his bed was.
It could fit at least 4 people in it
and it was all his!
"Now this, is luxury," A.J. said aloud jumping
onto
the hard bed. Mattresses were hard and not
very comfortable as A.J.
observed from his jumping
accident.
"OUCH!" He whispered holding
his back as he tried
to find a comfortable spot in the bed. He looked at his
wardrobe and pulled out his…nightgown.
"How your package can be hanging
wide opened like
this is beyond me," he said as he changed into it.
He
pulled the covers over him and thought of how
excited he was here. So many things
he could show
the people here and how much he wanted the challenge
of Jessie,
a.k.a. Isabel the PRINCESS!
"Good night Alexander," Denise said
with a candle
in hand.
"Good night mother," he said as she walked
down the
hall to her room. He moved around and finally found
the soft spot,
get comfortable, and getting droopy
eyes. He thought about what he was going
to
do to get Jessie to notice him…but what?
