brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:12:40 PM)

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:13:34 PM)

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:15:49 PM)

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:15:50 PM)
I am a social worker with experience with non profit mamage,t in NYC. I am doing well. My daighter will be placed in a classroom in the fall that has an amplification system.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:16:09 PM)

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:16:22 PM)
Yes! Can I help?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:16:53 PM)
Yes!! I am new to the non profit area and will be needing alot of help!

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:17:13 PM)
Hi, mlmom. I didn't want to talk around you but I type very slowly.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:17:32 PM)
I am currently setting the board of directors and will be putting together and advisory panel also

mlmom (ID=24) (Jun 19, 2000 8:17:56 PM)
brooklyn, no problem Take your time

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:18:04 PM)
I have written grants, started non profits, developed programs etc.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:18:22 PM)
what type of non profits were you involved with before?

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:19:24 PM)
I was a consultant both privately and for the Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies. I worked with helping agencies that serve children and families.

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:20:00 PM)
Much of my earlier work was with foster care and adoption evaluation.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:20:39 PM)
what I would like to do once I get the paperwork finalized and the 501(c)3 status. is organize state contacts in as many states as possible.

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:20:41 PM)
Do you know who the players are in NYC?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:20:54 PM)
I am in Florida

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:21:53 PM)
I'm not familiar with NYC

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:22:03 PM)
My daighters audiologist is Dr. Donna Geffner. She was the President of ASLA when they presented papers that put capd in the spotlight. Her office is at St. John's Univ.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:22:43 PM)
How long have you been familiar with Dr Donna Geffner?

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:22:48 PM)
Maybe we could put a call out on the list serve to get more names by state and then we will have a working list?

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:23:23 PM)
I have been working with her since the end of last year. She is great and very much in demand.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:24:10 PM)
The call on the listserv is what I was thinking of also, but I wanted to talk to parents first. I have some parents that I have been talking to who have already begun gathering some information for me.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:24:49 PM)
It's going to be a long process of getting together a comprehensive list. I've started a new website that I am putting together for the Foundation and will be storing information on that until we are up and running.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:25:03 PM)
Are you familiar with any organizations that do start up grants?

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:25:09 PM)
Great. I would like to organize a support group in brooklyn. Should I use the list too?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:25:27 PM)
yes! you are more than welcome too.

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:26:01 PM)
You have to do research at the Foundation Library. They have an office in NYC but they also have a web site. When you go there they can help you search.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:26:36 PM)
On the email list on my website I can run demographics of where people are from if they entered the information....I will be contacting individuals on the list about helping out also.

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:26:39 PM)
Until now I have just been reading my eamail from the list. How do I communicate with the entire list?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:27:02 PM)
I have been doing some research on grants and business plans already.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:27:24 PM)
Are you wanting to send information on the website list or the CAPD list by Dr J?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:27:40 PM)
mlmom....did you find the information in the chat helpful last Thursday?

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:27:42 PM)
Also, you might try contacting the SelfHelp ClearingHouse. They used to be run by a woman in NYC . They should be online.

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:28:36 PM)
I am fine

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:28:47 PM)
I am new to all this

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:29:00 PM)
Me Too! I don't know how to address the entire listserve.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:29:03 PM)
Hi. I just joined too.

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:29:07 PM)
Not to sure of the prodical

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:29:08 PM)
I work full time besides trying to organize this so Im doing as much research as i can, but it all takes time and I cant do it alone..that's why I'm looking for the help.

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:29:11 PM)
Hi!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:29:21 PM)
Wacaj everything here is pretty easy going!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:29:25 PM)
hi Denise!

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:29:37 PM)
Good to hear

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:29:58 PM)
Is this a new list? I've never seen it.

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:30:21 PM)
I have enjoyed reading all the letter

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:30:23 PM)
For those of you who I dont know yet, I am the person who is trying to organize a non profit on CAPD and who is organizing this support group. I have a daughter who was diagnosed with capd 2 1/2 years ago

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:30:28 PM)
I will look for start up money if you describe exectly how you envision the organization will function/be structeded etc.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:30:47 PM)
This website is about 1 year old. The support group here is about 5 months old

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:31:09 PM)
brooklyn, i am working on a business plan now and will send you information as i get it together....

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:31:44 PM)
My seven yr old daughter was also diagnosed about two years ago. It is hard to tell you exectly when I got the diagnosis because I saw three different people.

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:31:45 PM)
This sounds like a great idea

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:32:13 PM)
My son has only been seen by a neuro-psyche this past week

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:32:29 PM)
My son has a fairly severe CAPD, and has semantic-pragmatic disorder, and possibly dyspraxia (developmental). He is 6.10

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:32:41 PM)
Right now what I have is I'd like to put together information packets for parents, audiologist, slp and educators on CAPD, I'd like to sponsor public awareness programs, and a Be-A-Friend Program, putting parents in touch with other parents who have a child who was diagnosed with CAPD. Eventually as things progress I'd like to get more into advocacy

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:32:56 PM)
We are waiting for his diagnosis

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:33:07 PM)
I never has my daughter tested by a neurologist. Is that necessary?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:33:22 PM)
I am currently in the process of having my daughter re-evaluated to find out where we stand now.

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:33:32 PM)
I am not sure if my son has other problems

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:33:59 PM)
Debbie- Sounds like you need to research startup grants is parent education, public health, learning disabilities, referral services etc.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:34:01 PM)
Brooklyn, not all kids need to see a neuologist, It depends on the type of problems they have that is causing the CAPD

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:34:07 PM)
that is where our Ped. said to start

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:34:13 PM)
I would like to see lots of info on the success of FM trainers. Medicaid did not want to cover this for home use saying CAPD is not medical.

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:34:31 PM)
But capd is medical!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:34:41 PM)
I do want to make sure you all know, I am not an aud or a slp I am a parent!

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:35:04 PM)
Yes, I know. They have agreed to let me rent one for a month to see if it's effective...after I asked for a fair hearing.

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:35:04 PM)
Understood

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:35:21 PM)
That is great Denise

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:35:23 PM)
Parent's are the MOST knowledgeable, in my opinion!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:35:23 PM)
Denise and Brooklyn, that is where there needs to be public awareness on CAPD,, professionals have a hard time agreeing on what CAPD is and is not

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:35:36 PM)
Understood. I think parents are not sure who to see.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:35:54 PM)
Exactly my point, Debbie. I could have used this organization last September! :)

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:36:33 PM)
It is the not understanding my child that is the worst for me

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:36:48 PM)
I call him my enigma

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:36:52 PM)
I think parents need help matching their child's symptoms with the right professuinal to see.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:02 PM)
I also have CAPD, in case you are interested in hearing that.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:23 PM)
The first 1 1/2 years after my daughter was diagnosed I never had another parent to talk to...everyone thought I was nuts and had no idea what I was talking about when I mentioned CAPD. The night I met another parent online I sat and cried...I dont want other parents to have to feel that frustration and lonliness if I can help it. That is why I am here doing this.

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:31 PM)
I need to run it was nice being included

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:39 PM)
I might be back

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:45 PM)
Bye!

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:46 PM)
It is dinner time

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:49 PM)
please do stop back if you can!

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:57 PM)
thank you

Wacaj (ID=25) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:59 PM)
bye

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:38:11 PM)
Debbie- I had exectly the same experience!!!! I used the internet in the beginning and searched on her symptoms

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:38:26 PM)
Denise I am definitely interested in hearing that! YOU can offer a unique perspective that no one else can.

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:38:44 PM)
Opps, I meant Debbie

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:38:44 PM)
Yes. I find it is helpful to other parents on my web site.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:39:01 PM)
Denise, do you have a website on capd?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:39:43 PM)
I have a website on semantic-pragmatic disorder. CAPD info is included, along with sensory intergation dysfunction, dyspraxia, etc.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:39:57 PM)
can I have the address of your site?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:40:17 PM)
I talk a lot about my belief that the language disorder is caused by the CAPD.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:40:31 PM)
sure. www.geocities.com/denisev2/

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:40:36 PM)
The internet has been a life save for my family when it comes to capd.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:40:51 PM)
Denise would you mind if I created a link to your site on my site?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:40:57 PM)
Have you been to Caroline Bowen's site? She liked my web page and put it on hers.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:41:07 PM)
Oh, please include the link!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:41:14 PM)
I'm not sure if I know Caroline Bowen

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:41:18 PM)
The more exposure the better

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:41:25 PM)
That's they way I feel!

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:35:25 PM)
She is in Australia, and seems very knowledgeable. Just search for her name. Excellent web site

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:35:59 PM)
I will definitelly do that.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:36:33 PM)
brooklyn, im sorry, did you say earlier, if you are currently involved in any organizations now?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:36:48 PM)
She may be interested in hearing about your idea for an organization. You should e-mail her. Very nice lady.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:13 PM)
I will definitely do that!

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:22 PM)
Debbie-I am just a parent involved with the P.A. and the School Leadership Team. No affiliations relating to capd. Can you tell me how to post a message on the listserve or refer me to that info.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:37:51 PM)
Please spread the word to anyone you know about what I am trying to do. I"d like to arrange a chat once a month or so just about the organization to get it up and running.

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:38:24 PM)
OK!

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:38:42 PM)
If I were to put a listing on my web page, what would the URL be?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:38:51 PM)

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:40:59 PM)

I am working on getting this for my son through the school district. My son is in a private special needs school, and his speech teacher is certified. They are hesitating it's use even thought the program was made for Tony's problems!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:47:20 PM)
that is one reason we are doing the reevaluation..i want to evaluate where sarah is at in regards to things we've done to try and help

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:47:22 PM)
Wasn't Dr. J on the St. John's list?

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 8:48:27 PM)

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:50:38 PM)
Has it changed?

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 8:50:39 PM)

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:51:20 PM)
Hi Graeme. I also have CAPD. My son's problem is much more severe

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 8:51:20 PM)

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:51:38 PM)
Hi b'smom. hi Dorene

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:51:40 PM)
She still has capd issues and an articulation problem, though.

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 8:51:42 PM)
HI everyone

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:51:51 PM)
Hi Doreen!

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:52:01 PM)
could the articulation problem be motor planning?

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 8:52:08 PM)
If you know of any adult CAPDs who need to contact other adult CAPDs yhen i am setting up a contact site

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:52:08 PM)
brooklyn we still have some issues too..but we are working on them.

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:52:24 PM)
I have never heard that term before. What is it?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:53:02 PM)
motor planning?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:53:14 PM)
just to let you all know real quick since i have not sent out a message on any list yet..Dr J will be hosting a chat this wednesday morning from 8:15 to 9:30 AM EST

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:53:15 PM)
What is motor planning?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:54:24 PM)
b's mom..have you been in the chat before?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:54:26 PM)
It's when you can't get your body organized to work the way it should. Like catching a ball would be difficult .

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 8:54:43 PM)
yes

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:54:47 PM)
Tony needs a lot of hand over hand work for this type of thing.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:55:06 PM)
ok...please forgive me for not recognizing the name...*L*

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 8:55:14 PM)
that's ok

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 8:55:22 PM)
i was only here once before

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 8:55:50 PM)
i remember

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:55:58 PM)
His problem is developmental dyspraxia, I think. Your's might be verbal dyspraxia. These are also referred to as apraxia, clumsy child syndrom (although my son is not clumsy) and something else, I can't think of it right now.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:56:07 PM)
whew!! *wiping forehead*..i hate it when i think i might not remember someone

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:56:11 PM)
Who or how is motor planning diagnosed? An O.T.? My daughter was never too coordinated but seems to be getting better. She still finds tying her shoelaces very difficult.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:56:40 PM)
Yes. You should go look at my web site for some info. www.geocities.com/denisev2/

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 8:56:45 PM)
a speech therapist can diagnose apraxia of speech, ot for fine motor

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 8:56:49 PM)
CAPDs have good recall

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:56:52 PM)
An OT can screen for it, I think.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:57:00 PM)
CAPD's have good recall?????

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:57:02 PM)
not my daughter Graeme!! *L*

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 8:57:11 PM)
visual recall

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:57:34 PM)
Okay, okay. Good spontaneous recall, but not good recall for answering questions.

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 8:57:59 PM)
It makes up for other problems

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:58:10 PM)
where are you from b's mom?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:58:13 PM)
Has anyone ever heard of nonverbal learning disorder?

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 8:58:20 PM)
Tomorrow is the last day of school. I want to write thank-you notes to my kids teachers so I may leave early.

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 8:58:22 PM)
yes

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 8:58:39 PM)
NJ

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 8:58:42 PM)
I was under the impression that capd affects short term auditory memory since they are trying so hard to process what they hear

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:58:42 PM)
ok..

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:58:50 PM)
Very interesting similarities.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 8:59:00 PM)
brooklyn, my dauther has problems with short term memory

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 8:59:13 PM)
where in NJ thats where I live

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:59:22 PM)
I think it involves more than that. It affects the way information is stored in long term memory too

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 8:59:25 PM)
i have heardof it but i have not gone too deep into it as yet as my site is still being reorganised

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 8:59:27 PM)
Northern, how about you?

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 8:59:36 PM)
Southern

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 8:59:42 PM)
I'm in Monmouth Cty

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 8:59:52 PM)

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 8:59:56 PM)
I am in the UK

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:00:01 PM)
So we have northern, middle, and southern!

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 9:00:04 PM)
Debbie -So does my daughter She can remember things from way back but forgets recent events.

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 9:00:30 PM)
sounds familiar

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:00:32 PM)
Once it gets in, it stays in

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:00:50 PM)
once my daughter catches onto an idea, she has it!!

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:01:03 PM)
sounds like so many of my students

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:01:07 PM)
My son can recite movie dialogue after seeing the movie once, but he can't remember a multi step directive. The memory is tricky. I wrote an article about it. Don't know if it's any good.

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 9:01:08 PM)
you have to build routines and stratagies for imediate events

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 9:01:31 PM)
Has enyone/everyone heard the audio clip Ladle Rat Rotten Hut? I am making copies for my daughters school. The special ed suoervisor wants to train teachers next year and will use it!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:01:44 PM)
Denise could you send me the article?

Wacaj (ID=30) (Jun 19, 2000 9:01:58 PM)
(This user has entered CAPD: From the Heart)

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:02:00 PM)
brooklyn that is fantastic!

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 9:02:02 PM)
Yes my son understyands it but i cannot

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:02:05 PM)
Haven't heard of it, is it supposed to simulated CAPD?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:02:08 PM)
welcome back Wacaj

Wacaj (ID=30) (Jun 19, 2000 9:02:20 PM)
Thanks

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:02:23 PM)
Yes. You also have to get productive pages into the front of their "files," and have to work on making positive behavior automatic.

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:02:54 PM)
How can I get a copy?

Wacaj (ID=30) (Jun 19, 2000 9:03:02 PM)
Debbie, I would love to chat about your experience with CAPD. I think my husband may be too

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 9:03:02 PM)
B'smom- It is how little red riding hood sounds to a person with capd and it is very effective. A real eye oppener!

brooklyn (ID=23) (Jun 19, 2000 9:03:22 PM)
Soory I have to go and put my daughter to bed. BYE!

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:03:34 PM)
Just look for it on my web page, under the parents papers section. It's about schema organization

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 9:03:39 PM)
how old is he would he like to join an ADult CAPD site

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:03:41 PM)
bye brooklyn...i'll be in touch with you!@

Wacaj (ID=30) (Jun 19, 2000 9:03:45 PM)
Bye

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:03:47 PM)
I almost cried when I tested my two older kids for CAPD, they got all the vowel sounds but not the consonants.

Wacaj (ID=30) (Jun 19, 2000 9:03:54 PM)
He is 36

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:04:06 PM)
b's mom...are you an aud?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:04:15 PM)
Tony doesn't get consonants. But funny thing is, he did it on the testing with the headphones.

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:04:18 PM)
speech therapist

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:04:32 PM)
was there background noise?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:04:43 PM)
not at that point

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:05:04 PM)
my kids did great until there were voices in the background

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 9:05:13 PM)
I am setting up a chat room and other communication site for adult CAPDs who have different needs than children

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:05:15 PM)
but at home, even when no noise, he misses the consonants. This is why an FM trainer is so good for him.

Wacaj (ID=30) (Jun 19, 2000 9:05:21 PM)
This is true for my son too

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:05:38 PM)
like in a classroom\

Wacaj (ID=30) (Jun 19, 2000 9:05:44 PM)
yes

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:05:48 PM)
I"m going to ask the aud i see on friday who is doing the reevalutation for my daughter if i can hear the ssw test through the headphones..

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:06:03 PM)
good idea, I wonder how you will do?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:06:10 PM)
I'll never forget the time I said, "The geese are in the shade." Tony said, "Shave?!?" He could not understand until I either speeled it or had him look at my lips.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:06:30 PM)
im not sure if she'll let me do the test..but i want to hear what it sounds like for my daughter

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:06:40 PM)
When I was a kid I would sing songs I heard on the radio and my brothers would laugh at me.

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:06:49 PM)
I got the words all wrong

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 9:06:54 PM)
my son M&M has CAPD and we are now supplying tghe education authorities with all the information about CAPD

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:06:57 PM)
Yep. Me too.

Wacaj (ID=30) (Jun 19, 2000 9:07:13 PM)
me too

Wacaj (ID=30) (Jun 19, 2000 9:07:32 PM)
Gotta run bye too all

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:07:37 PM)
BYE

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:07:37 PM)
bye bye...

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:08:11 PM)
Dr. Dorothy Bishop is doing some work on specific language impairment. She is looking into processing as part of her research

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:08:21 PM)
b's mom...do you do capd screenings?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:08:36 PM)
I don't think she intended to look very hard, but it seems from her site that she has changed direction a bit

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:08:43 PM)
Not technically, but some of our testing taps into it.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:08:59 PM)
do you do alot of remeadiation for capd?

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:09:26 PM)
Many of my students are classified autistic, but I think some are really CAPD.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:09:26 PM)
So, do you think the TAPS or TARPS is really a true test of auditory perception? Seems more IQ-ish to me.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:10:05 PM)
YES! This is my son. I keep telling everyone I know that it can be mistaken for autism and ADHD

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:10:09 PM)
TAPS no and I'm not familiar with TARPS. We have a screening test for Auditory Processing.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:10:25 PM)
Do you know the name of it?

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:10:59 PM)
my son's teacher was hinting at ADD, I took him to a neurologist and she said no he just had a bad teacher. She didn't recommend an audiologist.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:11:07 PM)
b's mom..that is so very true about misdiagnosis

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:11:15 PM)
My word finding..... I 'll see if I can find it

dolfrog (ID=27) (Jun 19, 2000 9:11:26 PM)
I am off to do some more site construction bye all

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:11:29 PM)
I know what you mean b'smom

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:11:38 PM)
bye graeme

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:11:38 PM)
bye grame

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:12:01 PM)
Does anyone in NJ know of a good audiologist?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:12:01 PM)
Anyone know about learning styles?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:12:25 PM)
Dr DiSogra is knowledgeable about CAPD. He's in Freehold

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:12:52 PM)
Thank you

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:13:06 PM)
welcome

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:13:18 PM)
as an slp what would you like to see from a non profit on capd?

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:13:58 PM)
I don't have the name at home, sorry. It has three sections, the first is words with a filter, then with cafeteria type noise and then with a speaking voice in the background.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:14:25 PM)
I'll tell you as a parent what I'd like to see. Qualitative statistics on the effectiveness of different therpies for different categories of CAPD

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:14:44 PM)
I can use all the resources I can get my hands on. It is still a new area and I like to give parents information too.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:14:52 PM)
Oh cool! What age can it be used on?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:15:02 PM)
Is that the Willeford?

mermsie (ID=31) (Jun 19, 2000 9:15:08 PM)
(This user has entered CAPD: From the Heart)

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:15:11 PM)
I think all ages.

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:15:30 PM)
It can't be used to diagnose, only an audiologist can do that.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:15:31 PM)
hi mermsie how are you tonight?

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:15:40 PM)
not the willeford

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:16:06 PM)
it's called a screening test for...........I think CAPD?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:16:21 PM)
the Willeford is more diagnostic...the SCAN is a screener

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:16:27 PM)
Any idea what company puts it out?

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:16:36 PM)
Yes, I think it is the SCAN

mermsie (ID=31) (Jun 19, 2000 9:16:48 PM)
good. I've been on the listserve for months now and just joined onto this group.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:16:59 PM)
it's good to have you join us...

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:17:17 PM)
Hi mermsie

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:17:40 PM)
b'smom, the name will probably wake you up tonight

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:18:25 PM)
mermsie...do you have a family member with capd?

mermsie (ID=31) (Jun 19, 2000 9:18:35 PM)
good to be here. I have a 13 yr, old daughter with capd. I and my husband are both sped tchrs. I seem to be constantly searching for more info

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:18:56 PM)
May I ask where you are from?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:18:59 PM)
debbie, when did you say you would be chatting? 8 every monday, eastern time?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:20:56 PM)
You might be able to find it through one of the links on my web page. Look under CAPD links.

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:21:08 PM)

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:21:15 PM)

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:23:11 PM)
I'll hang on then.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:23:20 PM)
goodnight b's mom...stay tuned for more info on non profit

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:24:12 PM)
My son's testing on background noise was a single word at a time. He only got 36%. I have heard that there is also a test for sentence in background noise. i would think the single word shows a clearer picture

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:24:54 PM)
I'm sure he would get 0% on a sentence test

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:25:07 PM)
http://www.exploratorium.edu/exhibits/ladle/index.html

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:25:22 PM)
maybe not Denise, sentences give more info and he could fill in the blanks better

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:25:28 PM)
thanks debbie

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:25:32 PM)
my son got 0% on the sentence

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:25:44 PM)
you are welcome!!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:25:53 PM)
if you haven't heard the demo it is great

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:26:00 PM)
Tony has a pragmatic language disorder, and rarely fills in the blanks

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:26:23 PM)
wow dorene!

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:26:54 PM)
I'm always learning!

b'smom (ID=28) (Jun 19, 2000 9:27:01 PM)
good night now.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:27:10 PM)
how old is your son, dorene

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:27:12 PM)
goodnight....

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:27:15 PM)
good night

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:27:21 PM)
12

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:27:31 PM)
when was he tested?

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:27:46 PM)
I am looking to get him retested

Patty (ID=32) (Jun 19, 2000 9:27:48 PM)
(This user has entered CAPD: From the Heart)

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:27:55 PM)
hi Patty

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:27:55 PM)
he was 7 at the time

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:27:57 PM)
hi Patty how are you tonight?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:28:14 PM)
Tony was 5

Patty (ID=32) (Jun 19, 2000 9:28:52 PM)
Hi, doing great and you

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:29:05 PM)
Funny thing, everyone recognized a processing problem, but until the report was in his file, they wouldn't work on it or make accomodations for it.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:29:21 PM)
doing wonderful!

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:29:34 PM)
I did manage to get the school district to pay for testing, even though they never had.

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:29:53 PM)
they still would not evaluate my son until a year later

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:30:06 PM)
ridiculous

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:30:12 PM)
Patty, may i ask where you are from?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:30:28 PM)
anything that affects education is supposed to be evaluated and in the file

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:30:34 PM)
so much time wasted, now they don't want to reevaluate

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:30:45 PM)
get on them!

Patty (ID=32) (Jun 19, 2000 9:30:56 PM)
Western New York

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:31:07 PM)
we had two Patti's in the chat on Thursday night!

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:31:07 PM)
I have a surprise IEP meeting on Wednesday

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:31:14 PM)
surprise IEP?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:31:26 PM)
do you have a family member with CAPD?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:31:48 PM)
It was supposed to be a meeting with the teacher on what I should reinforce this summer, and I was just told we'd do an IEP for next year.

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:32:12 PM)
Well, when I work with my son, he gains a lot, and an IEP now is kinda silly...

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:32:22 PM)
I wrote a letter to request an outside evaluation after she totally slandered my neurologist who requested the assessment

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:32:33 PM)
but I'm glad because I want to pin them all down on the fast forword and a personal aide

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:33:00 PM)
I've heard of school districts doing this to doctors. Again, I say ridiculous

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:33:06 PM)
I am pushing for the fast forward also

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:33:27 PM)
If your son got 0%, I'd say he's a prime candidate

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:34:08 PM)
Patty......the reason for the chat tonight was to look at ideas for a non profit on CAPD....can i ask what you would like to see?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:34:18 PM)
Does your school district know anything besides the basics of the program?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:35:21 PM)
Oh debbie, maybe a good thing would be on how to set up a seminar for school districts to learn about fast forword

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:35:49 PM)
I don't know but the CST director says her college daughter has CAPD and if there was anything out there she would have her in it

Patty (ID=32) (Jun 19, 2000 9:35:49 PM)
More education, teachers, schools, don't seem to know anything about CAPD

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:36:03 PM)
Denise that is one thing I definitely do want to do! I went to a meeting in S Carolina a while back...it was worth the drive!

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:36:09 PM)
Also advocacy contacts by state, and audiologists who can help

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:36:38 PM)
I know a woman who set up a seminar with the school district, and the school is now going to get the program

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:36:40 PM)
If you all know of audiologist in your area who test for CAPD. please send me the info

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:36:43 PM)
I gave her the list for grants for the program

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:37:11 PM)
Patty that is what I have found in my area also...

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:37:49 PM)
debbie, how do I send you the info from here?

Patty (ID=32) (Jun 19, 2000 9:37:54 PM)
My cousin is a SP Ed teacher never heard of CAPD until I told him about my son.

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:38:18 PM)
my sons teacher thought he was hard of hearing

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:38:19 PM)
CAPD is one of those shadow disorders

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:38:38 PM)
At least the teacher didn't think he was defiant!!!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:38:48 PM)
One goal I have is to form an advisory panel for the non profit that would take a look at capd from a multi-disciplinary point of view..involve people from various professions as well as parents

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:39:02 PM)
yes, great idea.

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:39:28 PM)
No he just drifts off somewhere until someone notices

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:39:40 PM)
CAPD is now where ADD and ADHD were 10 to 15 years ago... It takes time and public awarenss so that people know what the disorder is and how it affects kids and people in real life!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:41:14 PM)
If you see brochures on CAPD or have informational brochures that you feel are particularly good...please let me know also.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:41:38 PM)
I'd like to put together packets of info that look at capd from different view points as well....

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:42:48 PM)
Does anyone have copies of their state's guidelines on ESE?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:43:05 PM)
what is ese

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:43:22 PM)
Im sorry...in my state it is Exceptional Student Education

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:43:34 PM)
(how we get an IEP or 504)

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:43:50 PM)
ah

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:44:18 PM)
I don't know. Wouldn't that be in the parents handout pamphlet? I just got a new one.

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:44:46 PM)
I just received 4 packets about CAPD parent-teacher-speech and laguage-school

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:44:48 PM)
I know in Florida I called my state department of education and requested a copy of guidelines..

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:45:00 PM)
where did you get those from Dorene?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:45:27 PM)
BRB everyone

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:45:33 PM)
in parent handouts you probably have procedural safeguards

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:45:38 PM)
bye bye Denise!!!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:45:45 PM)
thank you for coming to the chat tonight

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:46:02 PM)
Brenda Cowlishaw 109 Pinecrest Drive Silsbee, TX 77656

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:46:08 PM)

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:47:27 PM)
i haven't gotten the information from her as of yet...was it helpful?

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 9:48:37 PM)
(This user has entered CAPD: From the Heart)

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:48:45 PM)

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:48:46 PM)

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:49:15 PM)
may i ask what all was included?

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 9:49:32 PM)
Hi Debbie.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:49:45 PM)
how are you doing tonight?

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 9:50:30 PM)
Great! Have I missed alot already? How is the non profit organization going?

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 9:51:34 PM)
We started FFW last week.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:51:34 PM)
We have been discussing some ideas of what people would like to see the non profit involved with...

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:51:40 PM)
how is it going?

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 9:52:18 PM)
I think it's going really well. I just got the first weeks results but they are kind of hard to understand.

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:52:40 PM)
CAP current status of research and implications for clinical practice Subprofiles of CAPD by Teri James Bellis , Red flags for CAPD referrals, What are capd problems in children? (SLP packet)

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:52:44 PM)
what type of percents are you getting

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:54:22 PM)
I may have to contact Brenda about the packets...I've been working on putting together info also

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 9:54:36 PM)
two of them are already close to 100 after the first week and the others are in between 40-60.

Dorene (ID=29) (Jun 19, 2000 9:54:38 PM)
great!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:55:10 PM)

Patty (ID=32) (Jun 19, 2000 9:55:18 PM)
Those are great scores!

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:55:44 PM)
Has anyone used earobics?

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:55:50 PM)
Sarah did well on the first scores also..when we got to OMDFF she ran into trouble.

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 9:55:57 PM)
I guess so. He's doing 6 different ones now.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:56:13 PM)
I've not used Earo yet..I want to...have you been to their online demo yet?

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 9:56:40 PM)
Whats omdff?

Denise (ID=26) (Jun 19, 2000 9:56:44 PM)
no. My son was doing this with his SLP. She stopped though, and I think it's because it was ineffective so far

Patty (ID=32) (Jun 19, 2000 9:56:56 PM)
I have it but haven't used it yet.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:56:57 PM)
Im sorry..Old McDonald's Flying Farm

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 9:57:03 PM)

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 9:57:26 PM)

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 9:59:01 PM)

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 9:59:24 PM)

i have to tuck the girls in..be right back everyone

denise (ID=34) (Jun 19, 2000 10:00:50 PM)
I hit the wrong button!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:01:06 PM)
i've done that a few times!

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 10:01:08 PM)
Debbie, I wanted to tell you that I've been thinking about what would be helpful to parents and a detailed plan that would help parents explain CAPD to the schools would be great.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:02:00 PM)
just one sec..hold that thought while i tuck sarah and kendra in

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 10:02:23 PM)
I also would like to see the education target the school SLP's on what to watch for and the ultimate to me would be some sort of screening at the kindergarten level.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:04:14 PM)
I"m back!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:04:37 PM)
I know there are some tests for CAPD that include norms for kids as young as 5 and 6

denise (ID=34) (Jun 19, 2000 10:05:44 PM)
I have to run. I'll be back on another night if you're hear.

denise (ID=34) (Jun 19, 2000 10:05:58 PM)
I'll try to think of some ideas.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:06:02 PM)
so you would like to see a plan detailing....signs of capd....diagnosis of capd...

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:06:15 PM)
goodnight denise..thank you! I will be in touch..please email me with your addy!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:06:49 PM)

denise (ID=34) (Jun 19, 2000 10:07:34 PM)

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:07:48 PM)
my email is capdfromtheheart@aol.com

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:08:03 PM)
or reply to the message you got about this chat tonight

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 10:08:56 PM)
yes, something very easy to understand and explain to the schools. Perhaps an audiologist might be able to help. When we went to Dr. Ferre she gave me a packet that I thought explained it very well but thats because I was very familiar with what she was talking about. There needs to be someway to expain it to people who are not familiar and don't live with it in someway.

denise (ID=34) (Jun 19, 2000 10:08:58 PM)
thanks. goodnight everyone

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:09:04 PM)
on the website i am doing for the non profit i am hoping to put together a state by state guide

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:09:37 PM)
kate is it possible to have you send me a copy of the packet? i'd love to see it!!

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 10:09:40 PM)
I think anything at this point is great. I'm so glad you are tackling this!!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:09:57 PM)
i have the information she gave out at the conference

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 10:10:05 PM)
Sure, I was actually wondering if she gave them out at the convention.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:10:13 PM)
Kate im not sure if im tackling this or this is tackling me *L*

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 10:10:36 PM)
I'll bet thats right but either way I think it's great!!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:10:49 PM)
she gave out ..outlines of her presentation...i'd like so see what she gives parents

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 10:10:52 PM)
I still find it difficult to explain to people.

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:11:38 PM)
i do too..*sigh*...but sometimes i surprise myself..when i get started on the topic of capd im sure my friends think "Oh no! here she goes again" they are likely to never shut me up!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:12:07 PM)
oops..guess i ought give you an addy if you can send me a copy *L*

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 10:12:31 PM)
It was an indepth discussion on all the categories but you know I told my husband the other night she said he only had discrimination problems but most of the categories seemed to apply to me!!

debbie (ID=22) (Jun 19, 2000 10:12:35 PM)
i have a po box just for capd info and for future use by the non profit..to keep things straight

kate (ID=33) (Jun 19, 2000 10:13:07 PM)
