debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:01:29 PM)
My husband and I are renewing our wedding vows to celebrate our 10th anniversary

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:01:58 PM)
our first wedding was disrupted by the persian gulf war

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:02:13 PM)
OK....I wondered if that was it. I remember my first time on, Woody told me you were going to do that. I think that's wonderful!!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:02:53 PM)
It's been one of those days.....i talked to the lady who had agreed to do the catering and wedding cake today...she backed out on both

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:02:56 PM)
Wow..I was in Rhode Island when that was going on...doesn't seem like 10 yrs. ago!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:03:14 PM)
It's been 10 years! Hard to believe huh?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:03:29 PM)
NO WAY!!! What was her reason? It had better be a darn good one!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:03:32 PM)
(This user has entered CAPD: From the Heart) (IP = 24.129.104.70 )

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:04:39 PM)

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:04:54 PM)
When is the wedding?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:05:01 PM)
Nov 18th

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:05:03 PM)
i'm great actually...we had the first iep meeting for cj..it looks like we're finally going to get what we've been asking for for two years.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:05:08 PM)
I"m running behind on the whole thing

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:05:17 PM)
who's getting married?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:05:21 PM)
Tammy that is fantastic!!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:05:28 PM)
Woody and I are renewing our vows

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:05:37 PM)
hey, that's great!

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:05:38 PM)
YEEEEEE-HAAAAAA Tammy!!! Congrats!!!!!!!!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:06:11 PM)
bill pharo actually went to the meeting with us...he said he wanted to make sure cj got the services he needed!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:07:17 PM)
I"m impressed!!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:07:22 PM)
amazing!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:07:37 PM)
He never spoke up and recommended services for Sarah

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:07:58 PM)
i had to take an "other health impaired" form to cj's pediatrician for her to complete. but now that they have that, we'll actually be setting up his iep on 10/24/00--the next iep date at bayview.

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:08:05 PM)
how is sarah?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:08:23 PM)
Struggling...having a hard time

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:08:41 PM)
cj will be getting pullouts for reading and math as well as speech twice a week.

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:08:49 PM)
is she still using the fm?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:09:01 PM)
How did you get the IEP? I thought he scored an 85 on his tests too

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:09:04 PM)
yes she is

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:09:15 PM)
Deb in case you dont remember....Tammy is from Jax too

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:09:40 PM)
Debbie....have you talked to Dr. M lately?I still haven't heard from Shands...I may call tomorrow. It jogged my memory...thanks Debbie

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:10:10 PM)
I emailed with her once today bout the NCAPD but haven't talked to her

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:10:22 PM)
email her Debbie.....do you have her email addy?

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:10:26 PM)
we had some more testing done on him at the end of last school year. because he had "attention problems" (we told them that was related to the capd), he qualified for "other health impaired" services.

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:11:00 PM)
Ok...I am anxious to find out when I can get Travis up there to start testing.

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:11:08 PM)
he already had the iep for speech as you know.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:11:10 PM)
what is "other health impaired"?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:11:16 PM)
i'm confused.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:11:46 PM)
hence,,the dumb duck look *LOL*

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:12:10 PM)
LOL...I walk around confused most of the time!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:12:15 PM)
it's a form that is completed by his pediatrician stating what the diagnosis is and that he needed special services outside of the regular classroom and/or curriculum. i've been trying to get them to give me the form for the past two years now.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:12:52 PM)
My pediatrician called my school...they never mentioned such a form

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:13:06 PM)
where did you get the form?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:13:13 PM)
from the school or ped?

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:13:18 PM)
they still don't recognize the capd but they do seem to appreciate "attention problems".

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:13:50 PM)
the ese representative gave it to me at our last staffing.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:14:06 PM)
i'm happy for you but that makes me really mad

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:14:48 PM)
is CJ still using his FM?

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:14:55 PM)
when i asked for the form before, everyone (including those downtown) acted like they didn't know what i was talking about...but they are the ones who gave me the form.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:15:38 PM)
Bill never mentioned the form either

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:16:00 PM)
i don't understand why they have to make everything so darn hard for a parent

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:16:03 PM)
yes, he's still using it. right now he's just beginning to struggle. they've been reviewing a lot of first grade stuff so he was okay. but now they're moving into the new stuff and he's starting to struggle again.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:16:27 PM)
Sarah is on a scholarship warning.

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:17:23 PM)
Same with Travis...starting to struggle some with the new stuff. Debbie..what is a scholorship warning?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:17:48 PM)
grades are below satisfactory level

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:18:06 PM)
She brought home 2 D's on her midterm

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:18:07 PM)
I had never heard of that before.

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:18:20 PM)
cj hasn't brought home a scholarship warning yet but he has a pretty good teacher this year and she seems to be cutting his requirements a little...cutting is a bad word, i think...it's more, she is giving him extra time to do things, gives him a lot of extra help.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:18:37 PM)
I"m sorry...here I am suppose to be here supporting you all..not being a downer..

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:19:08 PM)
how is her teacher this year? is she willing to work with sarah?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:19:18 PM)
Debbie..don't talk like that! We're all here to support EACH OTHER!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:19:20 PM)
She says she is......

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:19:26 PM)
I"ll be right back

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:20:42 PM)
I can relate to the new stuff being harder on CJ...it's getting that way a little with Travis tooV

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:21:09 PM)
how old is travis?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:21:22 PM)

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:22:14 PM)

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:22:14 PM)

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:23:22 PM)
I"m goign to grab the state guidelines real quick

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:25:00 PM)

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:25:27 PM)
Yeah, that is pretty interesting.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:25:53 PM)
it's amazing we are in the same school district

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:27:14 PM)
Debbie...raining there? Just started here. It doesn't sound as though you're in the same district, does it? Why don't they provide that form, or others for all? Oh, it would cause extra work...

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:27:52 PM)
We've not had any rain here today that I know of

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:28:25 PM)
You know...after 3 years of fighting, im just getting tired of it all....

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:28:34 PM)
This is the first we've had today. Any news from Dr. J and M on the newsletter for NCAPD?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:29:26 PM)
We are going to go ahead with the newsletter...I"ve not talked to both..but I dont see why they would object...I did mention to DR J in an one on one chat

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:29:38 PM)
I don't blame you Debbie. It shouldn't have to be like that. You're trying to do what is best for your child, hoe to help her to do well in school and learn. It shouldn't have to be a constant battle.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:30:09 PM)
shouldn't be..but it is

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:30:27 PM)
And it's the child who suffers....NOT RIGHT!!!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:30:53 PM)
SZ...where are you from?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:31:26 PM)
Deb....when would you and your mom like to get together to discuss a newsletter?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:32:00 PM)
You tell me what days/times are good for you, and we can work around that.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:32:17 PM)
next week im working days so i'll be around most nights

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:32:51 PM)
Ok...do you want to do it on line, or in person?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:33:24 PM)
if we go over it in person it would have to be on saturday of next week..i'm off all day that day

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:33:48 PM)

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:37:54 PM)

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:38:42 PM)
would be during the day

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:38:59 PM)

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:40:26 PM)

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:41:47 PM)
we'd have to decide about where to meet

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:42:17 PM)
Ok...they were in Disney all day today, I haven't talked to her since yesterday. I will for sure ask her tomorrow.

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:42:45 PM)
Where would be 1/2 way? I'm not familiar up that way at all yet.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:43:11 PM)
that's what i'm trying to figure out......how far are you off I-10?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:43:32 PM)
or how far from Starke?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:43:45 PM)
ummm...let me find out from Stan...hold on.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:43:49 PM)

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:48:58 PM)
It's a slow night tonight...and no Tracy...I haven't heard how things went last week.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:49:32 PM)
With everything going on with the caterer today I didnt get a chance to send a note out on the lists...

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:49:37 PM)
speaking of dr moncrieff, i finally got the test results back for cj...she says not only does he have a severe case of capd but she believes he also has a language based disorder. she wants cj to be seen by a speech and language pathologist for an evaluation.

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:49:57 PM)
are you having problems getting into see dr m?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:50:07 PM)

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:55:18 PM)
if you are follwing the hwy out of gainesville.....go to 301 and then north......starke is first town

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:55:39 PM)
He found a town called Waldo...know where that is? Boy, goofy names on the map!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:56:03 PM)
I know where Waldo is

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:56:12 PM)
It's a major speed trap

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:57:24 PM)
Lots of cops out there?

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 9:57:37 PM)
(This user has entered CAPD: From the Heart) (IP = 172.155.94.54 )

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:57:42 PM)
He found Starke..

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:58:01 PM)
they change the speed limit every 25 feet (at least it seems like it)!!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:58:06 PM)
They are notorious for stopping speeders

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 9:58:10 PM)
Hi ya Tracy...were your ears burning? I was just talking about you!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 9:58:12 PM)

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 9:58:46 PM)
hello ladies, how is everyone tonight?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:58:49 PM)
Starke would probably be about 1/2 for us

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 9:59:39 PM)
No, my ears were not burning. I just was trying to catch up on the day to day junk. Totally, lost track of time.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 9:59:45 PM)
Why dont you talk to your mom and let me know if Sunday would work.........

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:00:13 PM)
OK Debbie...I'll e-mail you tomorrow.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:00:35 PM)
okie dokie....sounds great! We could at least make some preliminary plans

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:00:43 PM)
for the newsletter

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:00:45 PM)
Sounds good to me!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:00:45 PM)
yeah, that's happened to me alot lately...between homework, soccer, and tutoring i don't think there's a night i get home before 7:30 pm anymore.

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:02:47 PM)
what kind of things are going to be in the newsletter...do you have any ideas yet?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:02:53 PM)
If it's good for my Mom, we'll plan on somewhere to meet in Starke.

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:03:30 PM)
We've only tossed around a few ideas...but, it will be great!!!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:03:42 PM)
Tammy that is what we are going to meet to discuss. I want to include information or articles from parents as well as professionals

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:04:09 PM)
I'd like to include general information on the progress of the NCAPD as well

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:04:10 PM)
(This user has entered CAPD: From the Heart) (IP = 172.130.54.170 )

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:04:19 PM)

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:05:48 PM)

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:05:58 PM)
fantastic!

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:06:02 PM)

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:06:23 PM)
they are going to get him an FM trainer and I did not even ask

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:06:33 PM)

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:06:39 PM)

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:07:20 PM)
You go it!

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:07:34 PM)
Ooops...Tammy! But that goes for you too Tacy!

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:07:35 PM)
you got it!

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:07:37 PM)
They have been wonderful!! In ND I had to fight tooth and nail to get anything

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:08:06 PM)
I was not use to going to an IEP and not having to fight

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:08:12 PM)
Littlemac I"m delighted for you....It's nice to have a cooperative district

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:08:22 PM)
Sorry TRACY...my typing is off tonight!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:08:47 PM)
i know what you mean...when we had our first meeting last week i was all ready for a fight but they gave us everything we wanted without our saying a thing.

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:08:55 PM)
Mine is always off. As long as I understand, its fine with me.

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:08:59 PM)
I think they are that way because they are a college prep town, they believe in preping all students for college if possible

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:09:17 PM)
That's awesome littlemac!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:09:45 PM)
that's really great...i hope everything works out well...

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:10:03 PM)
I agree Tracy...if I know what I'm trying to type, others should be able to read it!!! LOL

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:10:09 PM)
they have even been working with my other son who is PDD--he has made so much progress in 2 months----more then he did in a years time in ND

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:10:23 PM)

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:10:35 PM)

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:10:58 PM)
PDD-Pervasive developmental disorder (mild Autism)

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:11:41 PM)
The house across the street is for sale, 5 bedrooms price 138,000

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:12:01 PM)
think i'll just save a few more pennies first *L*

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:12:02 PM)
Hey, maybe we could ALL move in!!

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:12:07 PM)
Yes, it is so nice to hear about a school that will take the time to look at the child as a person not a drain on the system.

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:12:37 PM)
i get tired of hearing "we want to help, but..."

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:12:39 PM)
dr j told me he has 4 houses in his neighborhood too *L*

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:12:44 PM)
You got it Tracy...and that's the way it should be everywhere! Unfortunately, it's not so.

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:12:50 PM)
they were very concerned because he has become so withdrawn, they feel if they help him he will come out of shell and excel

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:13:04 PM)
how old is he?

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:13:09 PM)
12

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:13:14 PM)
I am still waiting for somebody to call me back from the Board of Ed. since last week. I called twice, still waiting

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:13:19 PM)
Well, let's all just up and move, sound good?!?! *L*

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:13:22 PM)
littlemac it's nice they are looking at the effects of capd on him socially too

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:13:39 PM)
but many changes, new school, changes classes (7 teachers), ect

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:13:56 PM)
Get out Tracy....I was going to ask you how the call went. KEEP CALLING THEM!!!

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:14:01 PM)
YOu are all welcome any time!!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:14:27 PM)
tracy, i used to call a couple of times a day, until i was on a first name basis with everyone at the school...then i started on the school board...

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:14:44 PM)
that is always effective Tammy

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:15:08 PM)
Are you kidding, I live with turtles. I work for the school she attends. What fun that is!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:15:15 PM)
they get tired of trying to avoid you and finally realize that you ARE NOT going to go away!

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:15:34 PM)
kind of like bad meatloaf??? LOL

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:15:46 PM)
They all know me by my first name and other names too!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:16:06 PM)
yeah, i'm sure i've been called a lot of those!!! LOL

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:16:10 PM)
and I am sure they are not nice names, that is the way it was in ND

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:16:16 PM)
*LOL* Tracy...not funny, but you are!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:16:50 PM)
it's amazing to me that things have to be that way

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:16:59 PM)
the way i see it, if they are not willing to help cj then that only leaves ME...

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:17:17 PM)
ND's point of view was unless the kid fell on his face he did not get serves. So he had to be failing so bad he had no self esteem left

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:17:34 PM)
Oh well, where I live at they do not know the meaning of move it and do something. However, they do know the meaning of talking in circles.

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:17:49 PM)
where are you tracy?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:17:55 PM)
I would have moved too littlemac, that sounds just awful. Those pooe kids.

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:17:56 PM)
they must be in politics on the side?

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:17:57 PM)
GA

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:18:11 PM)
what part of ga?

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:18:27 PM)
Marietta

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:19:25 PM)
gosh..maybe we should have one big meeting =)

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:19:33 PM)
it's not too much better here. they keep you running in circles as long as they possibly can.

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:19:37 PM)
what category are your children served under? They moved my son from speech impaired to other health impaired--and he actually qualified for more services that way. They were able to do that because he has both ADD and CAPD

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:19:44 PM)
Wouldn't that be great?!?! I'd love it!

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:20:20 PM)
Don't listen to this Debbie!!! I can't believe it...2nd person tonight!

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:20:41 PM)
What is so funny, is that when I have to speak to them they do not understand one word that I say. I am originally from Philly. So I do have speak fast. They probably say shoot her mom needs speech therapy.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:20:42 PM)
other health impaired....i'll be on it tomorrow!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:20:54 PM)
cj was also recently diagnosed with ADD as well as the CAPD he was already struggling with. he is also listed under "other health impaired".

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:21:11 PM)
Oh my fingers are at it again. I do speak very fast at times.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:21:16 PM)
tracy i think they believe i need help too but not speech therapy

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:21:56 PM)
*lol* Debbie....

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:22:03 PM)
That was Illinois rules--I dont know about other states. He know gets speech, an FM trainer, LD reading and writing, and someone to monitor homework supplies coming home, and one central place to turn it all in at the beginning of the day!!!

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:23:01 PM)
Yeah, it is terrible how we have to explain our childrens problems with people who are suppose to be train in all areas of disabilities and they have no clue on earth what is going on. However, they have a clue on paycheck day.

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:23:33 PM)
Oh, that is terrible of me. I need to behave.

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:23:54 PM)
Oh yeah, you got it Tracy! No, you don;t have to behave...

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:24:11 PM)
it's hard to behave when they're talking about your child...

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:24:22 PM)
best of all someone to read his test to him--and he was the only 1 in his SS class to get the answer to the 3 hardest questions (unfortunately he missed the short answers)

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:24:46 PM)
Yes...that's when we step up to the plate, yet again.

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:24:57 PM)
with a large baseball bat?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:25:14 PM)
If it works, take it!!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:25:15 PM)
the teacher nominated sarah to be on the tech club..(helping with school computers) but if she remains on scholarship warning...she may not be able to continue..im not sure

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:25:43 PM)
I find if you bring a big folder of information and invite others involved in your childs day they get very intimidated and cooperatte more

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:25:53 PM)
(This user has entered CAPD: From the Heart) (IP = 172.171.25.183 )

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:26:02 PM)
hi Marie...How are you tonight?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:26:05 PM)
Hi Marie.....

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:26:08 PM)
Hi Marie

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:26:26 PM)
I'm ok Just found out about this site

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:26:36 PM)
scholarship warning??? is that the equivelent to a deficiency report ? ie. the child is failing 1 or more classes?

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:26:48 PM)
i've given them copies of every single test result and recommendations from every single doctor and specialist he's seen...it still took them two years to reach the same conclusions...

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:26:49 PM)
How did you dind out about it?

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:26:52 PM)
Hi Marie, good to see you tonight

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:27:04 PM)
yepper....unsatisfactory grade in at least one area

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:27:22 PM)
hi marie

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:27:22 PM)
I have a son who hasn't been officially diagnosed but I think I have found his problem

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:27:23 PM)
my son got 3 of those all in his mainstream classes

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:27:51 PM)
Sarah is only in reg ed....she did not "qualify" for an IE

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:28:09 PM)
she still has the 504 doesn't she?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:28:09 PM)
How old is your son Marie?

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:28:16 PM)
really not even for speech and language?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:28:19 PM)
yes to the 504

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:28:32 PM)
He is 4 years old and had tubes put in his ears last year but has a bad speech problem. He was excepted in a program at school but now they think he has other problems

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:28:42 PM)
she's on a 504 but does not recieve any language or speech..scored one point too high

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:28:53 PM)
is her reading and writing skills effected by the CAPD Deb? If so she would qualify here

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:29:11 PM)
His teacher today told me that he sometimes looks at her like "a deer in headlights" Nice teacher huh?!

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:29:35 PM)
yes littlemac it is affected..but not "bad enough"

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:29:44 PM)
does she mean it as he looks through her or that he seems not to know what is going on?

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:29:45 PM)
where are you from Marie?

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:30:06 PM)
cj receives speech but they tell me he doesn't qualify for "language therapy".

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:30:11 PM)
The more I read about this disorder I think that he "fits the typical"

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:30:21 PM)
Deb that is so bogous does she need to fall so far behind it is hard to catch up before they do anything?

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:30:32 PM)
Sorry I don't type fast---I am from tinley park IL

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:30:38 PM)
Travis gets speech therapy, but not language.

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:30:40 PM)
Oh get this, the sp ed teacher tells me come Feb. she is not going to have an iep because she meeting all of her goals. Okay, great then show me the test that you have done showing me that she met all her goals. Because, I do not understand how come she has no idea whats going on in class. Comes home with 1/4 to 1/2 of knowing what the teacher has taught in class

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:30:57 PM)
I was told once she failed she would qualify for help.....other wise she would be allowed to slip through the cracks

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:31:28 PM)
what other difficulties is your son having Marie?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:31:47 PM)
Stay on top of it Tracy, and fight for her to keep that IEP...

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:31:48 PM)
the only problem with that is YOU won't let her fail...you do everything you can to help her...and that makes her score to high on their tests!

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:32:14 PM)
You won't allow her to slip through the cracks Debbie

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:32:17 PM)
I thought they could not take away IEP unless testing indicated she no longer qualified?

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:32:21 PM)
you're caught in a catch 22!

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:32:24 PM)
Oh, I that makes my blood crawl. When I here them saying that. RRRR

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:32:30 PM)
Tammy they told me that...by me helping her pass and helping her study that means she wont qualify for help......if i let her fail then they'd help

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:32:31 PM)
He has a short attention span, he is having behavor problems, I can tell he doesn't understand simple directions, the list goes on and on.

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:33:23 PM)
How did you get your child tested for this disorder? How old was he/she?

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:33:30 PM)
what type of behavior issues?? is he hyper, not interact with peers, behind in social skills?

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:33:36 PM)
that's what they told me with cj...until he was so far behind he had no chance of catching up, they would do nothing to help him.

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:33:52 PM)
Marie I had my daughter tested at age 6 1/2 by a private audiologist

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:33:55 PM)
Same here

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:33:58 PM)
I hate how the school system does that

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:34:09 PM)
cj was 7 when we had private testing done.

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:34:16 PM)
My son was almost 5 when he was dx.

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:34:21 PM)
He is very stubbord and easily frustrated. He ignores when he wants to and says "no" alot

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:34:27 PM)

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:34:35 PM)
Tammy and I have had our kids see two of the same audiologists

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:34:37 PM)
my son was tested by a private person too--ND said he was not behind enough to have any DX--but ILL has been different

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:35:01 PM)
Hopefully, mine will see her too!!!

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:35:03 PM)

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:35:16 PM)

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:35:44 PM)

Hi Finch.........

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:37:23 PM)
cj's teacher says he still tries to get away with pointing at things and saying one word. however, she won't let him get away with that. he doesn't do that at home (probably because he knows i won't let him).

Finch (ID=40) (Oct 3, 2000 10:37:24 PM)
hello

debbie (ID=33) (Oct 3, 2000 10:37:28 PM)

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:37:51 PM)
Good night Debbie

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:37:59 PM)
how is his eye contact?

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:38:03 PM)
good

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:38:15 PM)
Great!! that is helpful

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:38:21 PM)
does he have poor word retrieval...keep starting his sentences over?

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:38:24 PM)
Nite Debbie...TTY tomorrow.

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:38:29 PM)
good eye contact is very important to communication

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:38:59 PM)
I feel that his frustration is being carried over to his personality--if that makes sense

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:39:06 PM)
was just asking about eye contact because of the teachers comment

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:39:31 PM)
she claims that he looks at her blankly as if not to under stand her

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:39:38 PM)
that makes perfect sense marie. As both my boys communicatte better a lot of the behavior issues have resolved

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:39:51 PM)
I don't think he does understand alot (language delay)

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:40:07 PM)
how delayed was he?

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:40:22 PM)
did he have a history of ear infections starting at an early age?

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:40:36 PM)
They didn't give me a time table but he didn't "hear" for the first 3 years of his life

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:41:32 PM)
Oh, I was told by an audiologist for each year a child did not hear well it is a 2 for 1 recovery. In other words if the child did not hear for 3 years, it will take 6 to take up what he has missed

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:41:35 PM)
He didn't have many ear infections--I took him in because he had sleep apnea and found that he had -300 ear pressure which is like being in an airpland

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:42:12 PM)
that long huh?

Finch (ID=40) (Oct 3, 2000 10:42:35 PM)
what was the cause of the ear pressure?

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:42:54 PM)
Ladies I am getting ready to call it a day. I will be back next week to give you all an update. Stay well

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:42:56 PM)
Fluid not draining from his ears

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:43:03 PM)
bye

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:43:08 PM)
the person who told me that was true to the money with my youngest son, He predicted based on a 2 year hearing loss he would be 6 before he had good speech skills--and he was almost exact to the day

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:43:15 PM)
night Tracy

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:43:22 PM)
Nite Tracy...let me know ASAP if you hear anything!

Tammy (ID=35) (Oct 3, 2000 10:43:31 PM)

tracy (ID=37) (Oct 3, 2000 10:44:19 PM)
You got it! I have to get ready to go to the circus tomorrow, I mean go to work at school.

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:44:27 PM)
he is in a mainstream 2nd grade class and is doing ok--but he also has mild autism that interferes with his learning

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:44:40 PM)
*LOL* Tracy...TTYS

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:44:50 PM)
night deb and tracy, take care

Deb (ID=34) (Oct 3, 2000 10:45:03 PM)
Nite...see you all next week.

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:45:07 PM)
they told me that John should be put in an Early Childhood class

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:45:21 PM)
my son was in preschool for 3 years

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:45:27 PM)
I'm beginning to think that that isn't a bad idea

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:45:34 PM)
he is 1 year behind his age mates

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:45:38 PM)
really. John will be in for 2

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:45:46 PM)
atleast

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:45:57 PM)
I can

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:46:01 PM)
oops

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:46:24 PM)
Matthew has a secondary dx of mild Autism--that is why I was asking some of those questions--just to try and help you figure out what was going on

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:46:51 PM)
what are the symptoms of autism?

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:47:39 PM)
difficulty with speech language/social skills delay--ect. You should look up PDD-NOS just to see how it fits your son.

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:47:52 PM)
I will definately

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:47:56 PM)
not saying that is what he has but the signs are very similar to this one

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:48:18 PM)
I just wish someone could help

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:48:38 PM)
I know what you mean--I have been there X2 with my sons

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:48:56 PM)
I guess the first step is to get audiotory test on him?

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:49:09 PM)
check out the PDD sites they do have useful info even if that is not his diagnosis

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:49:24 PM)
ok

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:49:31 PM)
yes--but ask specifically to address auditory processing

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:49:44 PM)
ok.

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:49:54 PM)
I'm taking notes as we speek

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:49:58 PM)
a regular hearing test will not pick it up

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:50:17 PM)
thank you so much for your help.

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:50:25 PM)
I would also ask for a complete speech language eval

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:50:42 PM)
great

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:50:59 PM)
what does the speech language eval do?

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:51:22 PM)
does the audiologist do both tests?

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:51:25 PM)
gives specific areas of strength and weakness

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:51:44 PM)
different from the school testing

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:51:48 PM)
no the speech language eval is done by a speech therapist

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:52:08 PM)
he has been seen by 3 already

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:52:18 PM)
the school does do testing for that but I have found there tests not to be realiable always

Marie (ID=39) (Oct 3, 2000 10:52:39 PM)
so contact one myself

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:52:52 PM)
If you can afford it or find a free progra

littlemac (ID=38) (Oct 3, 2000 10:52:56 PM)
