Biography of Dr. Jay Lucker


Dr. Jay Lucker is a Certified and Licensed Audiologist and Speech-Language Pathologist who is currently is in private practice in the Washington D.C. area. He previously was with St. John's University in Jamaica, Queens, NY and Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY. Dr. Lucker was at St. John's for 7 years. Thus, he has been in academia for these past 8 years.
Prior to being in higher education, Dr. Lucker had a private practice in audiology specializing in evaluation and remediation of CAPD for 10 years. Prior to that, he worked for a school district as an Educational Audiologist.
Dr. Lucker holds an Ed.D. degree from Columbia University in New York and an M.A. from Hunter College of the City University of New York. His graduate degree is in Communication Sciences - Audiology and his doctoral work is in Audiology focusing on auditory perception with a background in neuropsychology and perception.
Dr. Lucker has been working clinically, in research, and in education in the area of auditory processing for 25 years, with a focus on auditory processes that underlie how we deal with the information we receive through the auditory channel. He has also focused his clinical, research and educational work on the rehabilitation of children and adults with auditory problems both hearing impariments and auditory processing deficits.
Dr. Lucker currently manages two listservs on CAPD. One listserv is geared toward professionals, while the other listserv is more parent oriented. Both listservs are valuable sources of information.
