Crimson Flow, a brand new band from South Florida, could be called the most diverse and original new band in Christian music. Band members are Josh Mercier on guitar and lead vocals, Jared Mercier on vocals and turntables, Dan Blue on lead guitar and background vocals, Sean McCutchin on bass, and Jesse Ruggles on drums and percussion. Crimson Flow was formed in February 1999 when Josh and Jesse decided to form a new band. Jared joined, and Dan and Sean have since followed. All five members have known each other since grade school.
With a style similar to that of 311, Sublime, NOFX, and Sugar Ray, Crimson Flow blends hardcore, punk, reggae, rap, and alternative into a fresh sound that's catchy and reflects their deep faith in Jesus Christ.
This band can only get better. They are very young, with Dan being the oldest at 21. Josh just graduated high school and is 18, Jesse is 15, and Sean and Jared are just 14. Look for their soon-to-be-released album, which will be released independently, this summer.
Josh comments, "It's amazing how God can bring something together like this. He's what we're about, 100%. We want our music to represent His kingdom."
The new CD will feature 8 brand new original songs that Josh and Jared have written.
Crimson Flow's name comes from Christ's blood that was spilled on the cross. The crimson red blood that flowed from His broken body washed away the sins of the world and made it possible for all people to come to God.

THE ELMS
Although no longer an indie band, The Elms have been an extremely popular artist in the Midwest for the last three or four years. Their recent signing to Sparrow Records fueled a huge celebration in their home state of Indiana. Band members Owen, Chris, James, and Malcolm. Look for their new record to be released next year.
The Elms' first two projects, under their old band name Just Visiting, "Garden Show" and "The Elms", were met with great success in the Midwest area, and the band has sold close to 10,000 units between the two CD's, mostly at their concerts. "Jug of Pennies", their biggest hit so far, got a lot of radio airplay in the area for months.
The band has performed with many popular Christian acts, such as Jars of Clay, Big Tent Revival, and The Supertones.
Their music packs alot of energy, as evidenced by one of their many live shows in Indiana. It could be described as "energetic yet reflectful modern rock" says one fan.
God is definitely working in The Elms' lives, as they look forward to their five-album record deal with Sparrow. Pray for them as they seek God's will for their new opportunity to share their music.
