The Long Goodbye

WARNING: All poetry is copywrited and may NOT be used without my written permission. Thank you.

Eyes burn from the salty water that fills them
Cheeks feel gentle drops of rain falling down on them
Mouth trembles uncontrollably as she tries to speak
Hands shake as she goes to grab him from leaving
Knees buckle and fall to the beckoning ground below
Voice quivers with sorrowful sobs of pleading
Heart cries out for this pain to cease existing

Eyes see the blurred image of his tail lights in the distance
Cheeks feel the cool breeze dry the drops on them
Mouth steadies as a grim smile slowly appears
Hands wipe the mascara from under her eyes
Knees strengthen when she stands to brush them off
Voice is silenced while the mind ponders
Heart will heal and soon love again
