Introduction

Charles Graves is a sixty year old retired math professor from Rollins College in east central Florida. At the age of eight, he and his father, a professional boat builder, built his first boat: an eight-foot V-bottom duck boat. Since childhood, Graves has built dozens of small craft in wood, plywood, fiberglass, carbon fiber, and kevlar. For the past eight years, Graves has been designing and building R/C model yachts. He is an expert in Vacuum forming and RTM. Eight years ago he founded the Space Coast Model Sailing Club (AMYA 183) and four years ago he co-founded the Florida Marbleheads (AMYA 166) Graves is very active in the hobby in both building and sailing.

Graves Little Boatyard hulls are built in a very complete home work shop. All hulls can be built of any type of material you desire; glass, carbon, kevlar, with or without a veil. Your hull can be conventionally laid up or vacuum formed for lightness. In conventional lay up (i.e. open molding, which we recommend), glass, carbon, and kevlar are squeegeed out as dry as possible thus insuring lightness.

Hulls come with the sheers in place and with glued spacer strips to hold the exact intended shape of the hull. Once you have installed your deck beams, simply cut the spacers in half with a set of dikes and break the glue joint free. If you request them, a set of generic building instructions and information will be sent. If you want some building performed on your hull before shipping, or if you want a complete yacht ready to sail, please refer to the order sheet for pricing, or feel free to call for a quote.

As of, July 1 2000, Graves Little Boatyard offers twenty custom hulls and we are a dealer for the entire Victor Line. Our twenty different hulls are broken down like this: we offer four 36/600 boats, six one meter yachts, six marblehead yachts, three ten rater hulls, and the beautiful EC12. In 1996 we added the Mongoose I series which consists of a 36, 1 meter, and a marblehead. The series I boats are very fast in light to medium air, but still quite competitive in heavier winds. During 1997 we have added the Mongoose II series. This series features the 36, 1 meter, marblehead, AND a hot new ten rater. In 1998 came the Mongoose III series. The boats in the II and III series have more displacement respectfully and carry more ballast. The Mongoose II and III are stiff all weather flying machines. The lines of these hulls are gorgeous. They are great to look at and a real pleasure to sail and win with. In early 2001 we intend to add the International One Meter to our company offerings.
GLB offers seven different Carbon fiber fins that are filled with high strength 9 pound foam. These fins are either conventional laid up or RTM close molded. Either choice adds another dimension in achieving excellence with our product line. We have also added carbon rudder's and balsa/glass rudders to our line-there are four shapes from which to choose. GLB will build a plug and/or a mold for you from your plans or we will design to your parameters.

Anytime you run into a problem or have a question in building your boat, call and I'll walk you through it. I have been tutoring by phone for years with my math students with good success.

Graves boat hulls are priced very fairly. I do not think you will find a better value for the money. Our hulls are guaranteed to meet your approval. If you don't like the hull when it arrives, send it back and we will build one, to your exact specifications or refund your money, whichever you desire. This guarantee policy holds for anything we sell: hulls, sails, masts etc. If UPS has damaged your order, call me and I'll file a claim. In the mean time I will be building you a replacement. After you begin work on your hull or leave it in the box for some time, it's yours. Hulls tend to distort if left in an unbraced condition. The deck beams, trunk, transom and other bracing stop distortion. Delivery time will vary from two weeks to several months depending on our workload. If you want an exact time frame, call and we will give you our best guess as to delivery time.

The buyer pays shipping and phone calls. At these prices there is simply no margin with which to work. Send a check or money order for at least 50% of your order total, or if you desire, send the full amount. If you send a partial payment I'll call you a few days before we ship, this will allow you to send the balance without delaying your shipment. Make checks payable to Charles Graves.
