Remember Me This Way<bR><bR>
                                                      Chapter 12<bR><bR>


               Nick laid on the living room couch lost in thought. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't wipe the image of Jena out of his head. For the last week or so, he had been doing his best to try and forget her, but the memories of how happy they once where together was making it hard on him, both physically and mentally. He hated the fact that she was now in AJ's care, even though he trusted all of his band mates around Jena. But with Jena not knowing who she was, he now didn't trust her. The mier image of anyone else holding, kissing and touching her depressed him beyond belief. Even though he believed AJ when he said that he had done nothing with Jena, he also knew that those things had probably crossed Jena's mind. He was brought out of his thoughts by someone pounding on his front door. Moaning out in annoyance, he got up, walked to the door and opened it. His heart skipped several beats when he saw Jena standing in front of him.<bR><bR>

Nick- "Jena, what are you doing here?"<bR><bR>

Jena- "I have to talk to you! I just had the strangest dream and you were in it." She said and blew past him into the house. Nick closed the door and followed her into the living room.<bR><bR> 

Nick- "Ok, what happened in this dream?" He asked as he sat next to her.<bR><bR>

Jena- "Well, it started with AJ coming home from the studio and I was waiting for him in his bedroom." Nick felt the color drain from his face, and his limbs go numb.<bR><bR>

Nick- "Jena, is there a purpose to you telling me this?"<bR><bR> 

Jena- "Yes, why do you think I'm here?"<bR><bR>

Nick- "I don't know, it sounds to me like this dream was about AJ, so you should of talked to AJ about it."<bR><bR>

Jena- "Nick, you don't understand."<bR><bR>

Nick- "Yes, I do. And if you don't mind, I'm not in the mood to hear about the fantasies that your having about AJ." He said as he stood up, his anger rising.<bR><bR>

Jena- "What the hell is your problem? You said that we were still friends so I thought I could come to you if I needed to talk." She stood up and walked angrily to him.<bR><bR>

Jena- "I said the dream started out like that, but then out of no where you appeared in AJ's place. In the dream, I wasn't kissed on the lips by AJ, that came when you appeared. I woke up in a cold sweat cause I didn't understand what was happening. At the strange thing is, when I woke up I could still feel you touching me, but my mind can't think of anything but AJ." Nick felt his insides turn to mush. Maybe this was the break through that the doctor had described. It sounded as though her memories were trying to break through, but because of these new feelings she was having for AJ, the old Jena and the new Jena were fighting a war to see who would end up staying.<bR><bR> 

Nick- "Jena, I don't have an explanation for that. It could be because your memory is starting to return. But your seeing many things at the same time because your fighting it. I can't think of anything else to say about it except for just relax and let your mind do the work." Nick was trying his best not to say the wrong thing and get her upset. He was hoping that this was the turning point in getting her back.<bR><bR> 

Jena- "God Nick, I'm so confused and scared and-." Nick took her in his arms when he saw the tears starting to form in her eyes. Jena clung to him, and buried her face in his chest. Nick stood there and just allowed her to cry. When Jena finally registered the fact that Nick's hands were running up and down her back, he mind started recapping the dream. It was the same feeling that had come over her body when she had woken up. It felt so familiar and comforting, that for the first time since the day she had come home with Nick a few weeks ago, her mind and body both felt at peace. But never the less, just as she began to relax, the sight of AJ returned to her mind and she broke away from Nick's embrace.<bR><bR> 

Jena- "I'm sorry, I have to get going." She ran out of the living room, and to the front door.<bR><bR>

Nick- "Jena wait, what's wrong?" He said as he came running after her.<bR><bR>

Jena- "Nothing, I just want to get home and get some sleep." She said quietly, trying to hide the fact that a splitting head ache had suddenly hit her.<bR><bR>

Nick- "Take care of yourself, feel free to call anytime."<bR><bR> 

Jena- "Thanks, talk to ya later." She said and ran out the door, into the car and drove off. The whole way back to AJ's house, she felt Nick's presence with her so strongly. She reviewed the looks, the gestures, and the words he had just said to her. But most of all, he body longed to be touched by him again. The feeling of strength and protectiveness had some how entered her when Nick was rubbing her back. And she felt it so strongly, pulsing through her veins like a poison that wanted to invade her and stay with her for life.<bR><bR>

Jena- "God, what's wrong with me. I love AJ, remember that!!!!" She said to herself out loud.<bR><bR> 

              Meanwhile, back at Nick's house, in under 20 minutes Nick had jumped in and out of the shower, combed his hair and changed clothes. After that, he picked up the phone and called a familiar number.<bR><bR>

Nick- "Yo Frick, it's me.... Yeah, can I come over, there's something I want to talk to you about.... Ok, I'll be there in 10 minutes...Ok, bye." Nick hung up, grabbed his car keys, and went out the door.<bR><bR>


*At Brian's House*<bR><bR>

Brian- "Frack man, I never thought you'd leave that house again-."<bR><bR>

Nick- "Brian, Jena just came to see me. I think she's starting to get better."<bR><bR>

Brian- "What would make you think that?" For the next half an hour or so, Nick filled Brian in on what Jena had told him.<bR><bR> 

Brian- "Maybe your right, maybe this is a good thing for both of you."<bR><bR>

Nick- "I'm just thinking about her right now. There's no guarantee that things will go back to the way they were if she gets better. But at the very least, she'll remember who she is."<bR><bR>

Brian- "Nick, I'm really amazed at you. It's like you suddenly grew up over night. I never realized how much of an impact Jena makes on you. And from what you just told me, you have the same effect on her. Almost like your destinies are inexstricablely linked."<bR><bR>

Nick- "Jena and I were meant to be, I've known that since the first moment I ever laid eyes on her. So, I'm gonna do whatever it takes to help her get back to where she belongs."<bR><bR>

Brian- "And you know we're gonna be right there with you. So, what are you planning on doing?"<bR><bR>

Nick- "What I should of done from the very beginning. Be her friend and be there for her for whatever reason she needs me. I love her, and I want her to get well."<bR><bR>
