NURSE BETTY IS IN TROUBLE -- AGAIN!

My wife is a Chief Nursing Officer whose ICU Director frequently complained about a certain staff nurse named Betty. Nurse Betty always told nursing management that every executive decision was wrong and that, in general, "this hospital is a stupid place."

Betty was constantly trying to tell the medical center's Administration how to run things.
My wife and her ICU Director decided to call Betty's bluff.

Instead of either firing her or letting her continue to be a part of the PROBLEM, they would give this nurse a chance to actually try out her own ideas, and become a part of the CURE.

She was placed on self-directed work teams, and on a clinical ladder development committee.
Her complaining stopped, she matured, and she actually began asking for additional responsibilities!
Now, instead of being a pain in the neck, Betty is a helpful and valued hospital nursing employee.

Do YOU have someone who is giving inappropriate signals (but signals nonetheless) of wanting more responsibility?
As in Nurse Betty's case, instead of firing, promotion may be the answer!
