Carl's Instructional Technology Homepage |
Hi Everyone and Welcome to my Web Page! (Click on Any UNDERLINED item on my page for more information!) Yep, that's me, Carl Holtz and I am currently studying to obtain my Ph.D. in Instructional Technology from the University of Central Florida and it's hardly even aged me a bit--hahahahaha! Instructional Design and Technology is one of the most dynamic and creative fields of study. While pursuing my degree, I have developed a training program for Florida Food Service Managers, a complete distance-education based Associate of Arts degree, I co-authored a combat training manual (tongue-in-cheek) for third grade students to conduct the perfect food fight in the cafeteria and developed a web page regarding the UCF Teaching Academy for Dean Sandra Robinson of the UCF College of Education. Just recently, I completed a multimedia presentation demonstrating the emotional impact of photographic still shots interwoven with a musical soundtrack. The shots were all taken on a cold and rainy day (monsoon) in February 1999 at St. Augustine, Florida. Thus began my interest in . In addition to all this, I was also asked to professionally critique a CBT module that was to be used for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees. The critique improved the quality of this and future training modules for the UNHCR and increased their expectations for future learning tools, as well as, afforded me an administrative opportunity. I have accomplished quite a lot throughout my 29 years (and holding) on this planet. In the past, I have sold real estate, owned my own travel agency, was a retail manager, leasing coordinator and was the Senior Laboratory Technician for the Department of Hospitality Management at the University of Central Florida. More recently, I served as President of the University of Central Florida Association for Educational Communications and Technology (UCF-AECT), taught a web-based, distance learning, undergraduate-level course entitled Teaching Adult Learners and completed an interactive training/simulations contract with the U.S. Marine Corps. I am a certified Florida State Food Manager, a Servsafe Food Protection Manager and an active Florida Real Estate Salesperson. I have lived and traveled extensively throughout the USA and Europe and plan to return to London, Paris or possibly Asia some day...Talk about "Livin' La VIDA Loca!!!!" My personal interests range from the unique to the eclectic. I am an avid fan of cartoons such as Rocko's Modern Life, South Park, Bob and Margaret, The Simpsons and Family Guy. My musical taste includes Adult Contemporary, Acid Jazz, New Age, Euro-Techno, R & B and Soul. I pride myself on my open mind, cherish the time spent with friends and enjoy meeting new people from all walks of life. As I update my web page, I will be posting even more examples of Instructional Design and Technology work and let everyone see all the creative energy and true talent that our field emotes. In the meantime, if you like my web page, then drop me a line by clicking on the blue mailbox or give me a call. I look forward to hearing from you soon! Carl :) |
