~ Lee Grant Johnson Jr. ~
This particular family member is very
interesting. From family, I am told his nickname was "Bunk". Bunk Johnson
apparently died very young. I have heard he was in a construction accident that
left him an invalid and he died of complications years after the accident. I
have also heard that his injuries were due to his good looks and being a ladies
man. Other men didn't like his popularity. One of the most intriguing aspects of
Bunk's life, or I should say death, is when he died. Silver Mount Cemetary in
Staten Island, NY has a head stone and records saying Lee died in 1948. As part
of the family search I contacted the Staten Island Advance for a copy of his
obituary. When I received the obit, it said Lee died in 1938 and was buried in
Frederick Douglas Cemetary. I contacted that cemetary and they also have records
for this ancestor stating he is buried in a pauper's grave. This is something
that needs to be investigated further. What do you think? Share your opinion on

~ L to R: unidentified woman, unidentified woman, Parilee, Lee Jr. ~
Parilee is the youngest child of Lee Grant and Josephine Miller. Can you identify the two women behind Parilee and
Lee Jr.? If so email me at Tysgrl@aol.com
~ L to R: Carl Miller, unidentified best man, Lovie Johnson, Lucille Johnson, Rev. Mills G. Skinner--Shiloh A.M.E. Zion Church on Staten Island (I believe) ~
Lovie Johnson was born July 21, 1899 and
died April 23, 1955. Her sister, Lucille Johnson-Smith, was born March 17, 1909
and died in 1967. Lovie married Carl Miller in Newark, NJ. Shortly after Lovie's
death, the family lost contact with Carl. Lovie's younger sister, Mamie, had a
child named Roland Brown on August 25, 1925.He was the first grandchild of Lee
and Martha Johnson. After her untimely death, Lovie and Carl raised Roland in
Staten Island, NY. Roland hasn't been seen by the family in many many years.
Roland married a woman named Aretha. We are trying to find Roland, preferrably
before our family reunion in July 2000. If you know where he is, please email me
at Tysgrl@aol.com.
